Pylon - Gyrate Plus (album stream)

Pylon is an American rock band from Athens, Georgia. The band's danceable jangle pop sound influenced the Athens, Georgia music scene and the 1980s American pop underground. Allmusic wrote that Pylon's "role as elder statesmen of the alternative rock explosion is unassailable".

Originally released Nov 1980, it was re-released by DFA Records in an expanded version in 2007 that you can stream below.

The Wood Brothers - Smoke Ring Halo (album stream)

It is telling, as an indicator of just how slow things are at the moment, that NPR only posted one "First Listen" this monday. It is "Skying" by The Horrors, which we've been streaming already for almost a month. So expect this blog to slow down until at least early September. There's simply not enough releases to make 6 posts per day.

FlashBack! - Gary Numan - The Pleasure Principle (1979) (album stream)

The Pleasure Principle is the third studio album, and debut album under his own name, by electronic music pioneer Gary Numan, released in 1979. Released the same year as Replicas (under the name Tubeway Army), The Pleasure Principle also went to number 1 in the United Kingdom and paved the way to chart success for a string of synthpop acts such as Ultravox, The Human League, Depeche Mode and Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark.
