Spot-On: The Icarus Account

Twin brothers Ty and Trey Turner are in perfect harmony with their band The Icarus Account.
Usually, the more instruments there are in a band, the more members. That isn’t the case, however, with twin brothers Trey and Ty Turner of The Icarus Account. Fresh out of Florida, these twenty-two year-old brothers have enough God-given talent to play the piano, guitar and sing their own lyrics.
With their acoustic pop/rock sound, The Icarus Account shares similarities to other artists such as He Is We, A Rocket To The Moon, Holiday Parade, and Foreverinmotion. They have been making an impact on everyone who has opened their ears and hearts to their music since they started their MySpace page in 2006.
Although The Icarus Account may not be a band one would typically hear on Top 40 radio, their future is unwritten and they are still young musicians. If you know someone who is into the “indie” music scene (assuming they know how to use the internet) there is a great chance they have already heard of this up-and-coming band. Boasting over 31,000 “likes” on Facebook and over a million plays on Purevolume.com, these twins are blowing up and should definitely be the next band added to your iTunes playlist.
The brothers of The Icarus Account put out their debut EP Hold On For Dear Life in 2007, which held six songs of pure lyrical and musical elegance. The standout track “Life Is Beautiful” is one of the most relaxing and euphonious songs imaginable. In 2008, they followed up with the full-length Mayday with eleven songs that possess a bit more pop, yet have the same inspiring lyrics. These songs make you want to do a little jig and tap your feet while they’re playing through your speakers. My biggest recommendation is to sing along while doing your homework or going for a good drive. The song “Proud” was written about their family and even features Trey playing a mandolin, a popular element in bluegrass.
In 2009, the twins put out a thirteen-track album, landing them the number four spot on
“Purevolume’s Top 20 Unsigned Bands of 2009.” Most recently, they released an EP Sunshine and Rain in 2010 with four acoustic songs featuring that pure uplifting touch that they are known for.
Trey and Ty have also been known to do a few cover songs here and there. Their most well known being “Burn” by Usher, which when performed live, is always accompanied by some wicked dance moves. Others, which can be heard on their YouTube account, include “Please Don’t Go” by Mike Posner, “DJ Got Us Falling In Love” by Usher, “You Have My Attention” by Copeland and others by artists such as Justin Bieber and Beyonce.
The truly inspiring thing about this duo is that they haven’t given up. The brothers are doing it all on their own for the joy and love of the music. They stay in touch with their fans, talking and responding to them on Facebook and Twitter. They will even set up to play privately for birthdays, weddings or small private parties. Trey and Ty Turner are genuinely nice people, which I feel is sometimes hard to find in the music business. I assure you their talent is worth a listen.
