Rush Midnight - +1 EP (album stream)

If Rush Midnight’s sex-tropical grooves sound familiar, that’s probably because the man behind the moniker, Russ Manning, used to play bass with Twin Shadow. George Lewis Jr. actually lends his production touch to a couple of tracks on Rush Midnight’s debut, +1, which arrives October 30 via Cascine. Inspired by his travels through Brazil, Australia, and Europe, Manning recorded demos for the EP while on tour with Twin Shadow. The formerly trained jazz musician knows his way around a rock-steady groove, incorporating exotic flavors of reggae, New Wave, and disco into a smoldering five song set.
