It's a shame that it takes someone passing away for you to discover their music, but I guess great music can be discovered at anytime, anywhere by anybody. So I woke up to Google telling me Dr.John had died. I didn't know his music straight off, but as soon as I dug deeper I discovered I used to play his tunes 'Iko Iko' and 'Right place Wrong Time' in my covers band in Liverpool about 12 years ago! I had no idea it was Dr.John back then. But wow, what a career this guy had. And the groove. And the soul. And his ability to mash up and cross genres. So ahead of its time. And I love how spiritual he was. Right on. So, I chopped up a few of his tunes and had a jam with this new piece of kit from Akai the #Force. I'm still getting to terms with it, so excuse my flow! If you haven't heard Dr.Johns music, wack it on, and let it be your Sunday soundtrack.
