Aliaune Damala Badara Akon Thiam (born April 16, 1973) is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, entrepreneur, philanthropist and actor. He rose to prominence in 2004 following the release of "Locked Up", the first single from his debut album, Trouble.

In May 2019, Akon released the Latin-infused single "Get Money", featuring Puerto Rican artist Anuel AA. which will serve as the lead single for his long awaited fourth album. The album is expected to be released on August 30, 2019 via his new label Akonik Label Group. This album will serve as his first latin album.
