The 69 Eyes, a very dramatic goth metal band, formed in the early '90s in Helsinki. A quartet influenced by Motörhead, the Stooges, the Dead Boys, and the Doors, as well as movies like The Crow, Lost Boys, and The Matrix, they released several albums throughout the '90s and early 2000s. They first went gold in their native Finland with 2000's "Gothic Girl" single, and from then on their popularity increased. An anthology titled Framed in Blood: The Very Blessed of 69 Eyes was released in 2003 and initiated another phase for the band. They released another full-length album, Devils, in 2005 with its sequel, Angels, following in 2007. Hollywood Kills: Live at the Whiskey A Go Go arrived a year later, and 2009 saw the release of Back in Blood and the LP's single "Dead Girls Are Easy." Their 2012 album X featured a guest appearance from tattoo artist and model Kat Von D, and in 2013, they kicked off a three-year break with the release of the compilation The Best of Helsinki Vampires. In 2016, they returned with the single "Jet Fighter Plane" and the album Universal Monsters.

2019 saw the act play the United States for the first time in ten years in advance of their 12th studio album, West End, which was scheduled for release on Friday, September 13.
