Shot and Cut by Oliver Duncan. I decided to shoot this clip in the spirit of the song by having no plan or direction, that's my excuse anyways. Costing a total of $8 and features shows from Woodland and Shark Bar. :D

Dune Rats formed in Brisbane, Australia during 2011 when two stoner buds, guitarist/vocalist Danny Beausa and drummer BC Michaels, decided to make a bunch of lunkheaded punk noise together. They played shows with various friends roped in to play bass and released a couple of EPs, Sexy Beach and Social Atoms, during their first year together. They continued a steady stream of live shows and singles over the next two years, releasing "Fuck It" in 2012 and "Red Light Green Light" in 2013, while the Smile EP also came out that year. By this point, Brett Jansch, a member of fellow Brisbane group Bleeding Knees Club, had become a fixture on bass. Dune Rats recorded their self-titled debut album in 2014, releasing it on their own Ratbag Records imprint. The stripped-down, party-time punk sound connected with fans in Australia, leading to the band getting slots at prime festivals, including Laneway in 2015. Their second album, The Kids Will Know It's Bullshit, was produced by FIDLAR's Zac Carper and opted for the same no-nonsense, all-fun approach. It was released on Ratbag in early 2017.

Youngr is a solo outlet for Dario Darnell, a songwriter, producer, instrumentalist, and vocalist who makes eclectic, slightly left-of-center pop. The son of August Darnell, aka Kid Creole, Darnell made his (presumably) first recorded appearance back in the early '90s, on his father's To Travel Sideways. One of its songs featured wind chimes from him and sibling Lorne Ashley Brigham-Bowes, youngsters whose musical association extended into adulthood. During the late 2000s, the brothers recorded and performed as the Liverpool-based Picture Book, and in 2013, they were credited as co-writers of Cher's "My Love." Darnell later landed a solo deal with Island, coincidentally the same major label with which his father was once affiliated. As Youngr, Darnell released a handful of tracks across the latter half of 2016 and early 2017, including the free-spirited party track "Out of My System," the ballad "Too Keen," and acoustic versions thereof. Additionally, he synthesized vintage disco-funk and early house with his remix of Tove Lo's "True Disaster." A compilation of his various releases was issued in January 2018 under the title, This Is Not an Album.

Sydney, Australia-born house DJ Anthony Maniscalco (aka Hook N Sling) began his career with a residency at a friend's bar before developing a big-room sound that became popular in both his home country and America. In his early career, Maniscalco built up a name for himself in Sydney by regularly playing the local club circuit; around the same time, he signed to Australian house label Hussle Recordings, with whom he released a number of EPs and singles. Eventually, he started to get global bookings, with a spate of bookings in America due to its rising EDM scene. In 2012, he moved to Los Angeles on a permanent basis. During his time with Hussle, his contract with the label forbid him to work with any other imprints. That changed along with his relocation, leading to a string of releases with Spinnin' Records, including his breakthrough track "Reason," produced in collaboration with fellow Australian duo Nervo. From there he went on to release further singles on labels including Axtone and Big Beat Records, the latter of which released his widely successful collaboration with Galantis, 2016's "Love on Me."

Atlanta group Omni channel the best herky-jerk pop through the ages, drawing inspiration from Devo, Television, Josef K, and Magazine, then filtering it through a no-frills lo-fi sound. Formed by longtime friends ex-Deerhunter guitarist Frankie Broyles and ex-Carnivores bassist/vocalist Philip Frobos soon after Broyles jumped the Deerhunter ship in late 2015, the duo cooked up a new idea for a band over the course of a long drunken night's work. With songs in hand, they recruited another ex-Carnivore, Billy Mitchell, to handle the drumming chores. The next step was playing live shows and recording an album with another ex-Carnivore, Nathaniel Higgins, in the producer's chair. Chicago label Trouble in Mind liked what they heard from the band and decided to release the album, Deluxe, in July of 2016. After the record's release, the trio embarked on a quick tour of the U.S. Early the next year, they released a single made up of two tracks ("Fever Bass"/"Thesis") recorded for Deluxe but not used. Broyles released a solo EP, Slow Return, soon after that on the Skeleton Realm label. Meanwhile, the band began working on its second album, teaming with producer Higgins again at his own studio while also doing some recording in a remote cabin in the Georgia woods. The very similar-sounding Multi-Task was issued in September of 2017 by Trouble in Mind.

The founder and guiding force behind Awful Records, Father is also one of the autonomous label's recording artists, a producer and rapper whose tracks are offhandedly debauched and self-effacing. Born Centel Mangum, Father grew up in Mississippi and at the age of ten moved with his family to Atlanta, Georgia. After high school, he entered college to study pharmacology but switched to art school, where he met some fellow creative personalities and launched Awful Media Group. Awful developed into a recording label, an outlet for Father established with short-form releases such as 2013's Pretty Boy Satan and the 2014 sets Teen Gohan, L1L D1DDY, and Young Hot Ebony. The latter includes "Look at Wrist," a collaboration with ILoveMakonnen that became a breakout track for Father and re-appeared later that year on Makonnen's debut for OVO Sound. Despite major-label interest, Father kept himself and the rest of the Awful crew independent, and continued issuing solo material that featured emergent labelmates such as Abra, Archibald Slim, Ethereal, KeithCharles Spacebar, and Slug Christ. Who's Gonna Get Fucked First? arrived in 2015 and was followed by I'm a Piece of Shit in 2016. Father continued to cultivate the Awful roster and work with developing artists, including Meltycannon, who produced his 2017 single "Hands."

Deriving their name from the ill-fated characters featured in the work of writer/illustrator Henry Darger, the Vivian Girls (not to be confused with the "craft pop" duo of the same name) are a Brooklyn-based trio whose gritty, lo-fi tunes nod to seminal indie pop acts like Black Tambourine, Talulah Gosh, and Tiger Trap. Comprised of guitarist/vocalist Cassie Ramone, bassist Kickball Katy (Goodman), and drummer Ali Koehler, the Vivian Girls sprang into the indie circuit in 2008 with a handful of 7" singles released on a passel of small labels, including "Wild Eyes" (Plays with Dolls Records), "Orphanage" (Woodsist Records), and "I Can't Stay" (In the Red Records). Their self-titled debut full-length was released on Mauled by Tigers and In the Red in September that same year. The record became something of a sensation and the trio spent the year touring and gaining fans the world over. Their quickly recorded follow-up album, Everything Goes Wrong, was released in late summer of 2009. After switching out drummers in the summer of 2010 (Ali joined Best Coast and was replaced by Coasting's drummer Fiona Campbell) and taking a break for other projects (Ramone formed Babies with Woods' bass player Kevin Morby, Goodman formed La Sera with Brady Hall), the group hit the studio in late 2010 to record their third album. Share the Joy was released in April of 2011 on their new label Polyvinyl.
