"Jungleland" is the closing song on Bruce Springsteen's 1975 album Born to Run. It contains one of E Street Band saxophonist Clarence Clemons' most recognizable solos. It also features short-time E Streeter Suki Lahav, who performs the delicate 23-note violin introduction to the song, accompanied by Roy Bittan on piano in the opening.

The song in its lyrics mirrors the pattern of the entire Born to Run album, beginning with a sense of desperate hope that slides slowly into despair and defeat. The song opens with the "Rat" "driving his sleek machine/over the Jersey state line" and meeting up with the "Barefoot Girl," with whom he "takes a stab at romance and disappears down Flamingo Lane." The song then begins to portray some of the scenes of the city and gang life in which the "Rat" is involved, with occasional references to the gang's conflict with the police. The last two stanzas, coming after Clemons' extended solo, describe the final fall of the "Rat" and the death of both his dreams, which "gun him down" in the "tunnels uptown," and the love between him and the "Barefoot Girl." The song ends with a description of the apathy towards the semi-tragic fall of the "Rat" and the lack of impact his death had: "No one watches as the ambulance pulls away/Or as the girl shuts out the bedroom light," "Man, the poets down here don't write nothin' at all/They just stand back and let it all be."

Burna Boy - "Live @ NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert" [World & Reggae, Live In Concert]

Live @ NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert

"Live @ NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert" music video by Burna Boy
Added: 26-11-2019
Genre : World & Reggae, Live In Concert
Description : Burna Boy: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert

Nov. 18, 2019 | Bobby Carter -- While preparing for Burna Boy's Tiny Desk appearance, it was evident early on that his performance would be strictly business. After exchanging pleasantries on the phone with his mother and manager, Bose Ogulu, she made it clear there wouldn't be time for much of anything else. "Burna has been working really hard so please bear with us," she told me. "The band will arrive well before him. Let me know the latest time at which he can arrive."

The Nigerian singer and songwriter is one of the biggest African artists in the world. He's also a pioneer of Afro-fusion which incorporates sonics and influences from a myriad of genres, laid on an Afrobeat foundation. The sound has been inescapable this year. The man born Damini Ogulu has been touring the world for the majority of 2019 and has at least 10 songs in the current nightclub rotation. Beyoncé took notice and offered him a place on The Lion King soundtrack, The Lion King: The Gift.

Sandwiched between two sold-out concerts in Washington D.C., his Tiny Desk performance offers something relatively different from what we're used to seeing at his rowdy stage shows. He's more reflective here and restrained, allowing his songwriting to shine. In the spirit of one of his heroes, Fela Kuti, he weaves through highlights from his breakout album, African Giant, that are liable to move your body as much as your social consciousness.

"Wetin Man Go Do"

Burna Boy: vocals; Emmanuel "Manny" Abiola-Jacobs: drums; Michael "Maestro" Masade Jr.: keys; Jola Ade: keys; Gaetan Judd: guitar; Christina Matovu: vocals; Otis "Bdoc" Mensah: bass

With his fusion of dancehall, reggae, Afro-beat, and pop, Burna Boy emerged in the early part of the 2010s as one of Nigeria's fastest rising stars. The LeriQ-produced 2012 single "Like to Party" proved to be his breakout track and paved the way for his full-length debut, L.I.F.E, a year later. Over the next five years, Burna released two more albums and collaborated with a variety of artists, from J Hus and Skales to Fall Out Boy and Lilly Allen. His international exposure widened with 2018's Outside, which hit number three on the Billboard Reggae chart and won the Nigeria Entertainment Award for Album of the Year. In advance of his next LP, 2019's African Giant, Burna made his first appearance at California's Coachella festival.

Wrangler - "Anthropocene" [Rock & Alternative]

"Anthropocene" music video by Wrangler
Added: 26-11-2019
Genre : Rock & Alternative
Description : Wrangler - Anthropocene (Official Video)

3D Models by Ben Chan

Direction and creation by Akiko Haruna

Following their critically acclaimed collaboration with John Grant on last year’s Creep Show project, Wrangler today announce news of their new album, A Situation, released 28th February via Bella Union and available to preorder. The band have also announced 2 x headline shows, in London and Manchester, in late February. Dates/info HERE.

To celebrate the release the band have shared an extraordinary digital video for “Anthropocene”, a track about the collapse and fall of human civilisation. Of the track Wrangler say: “We have left our mark on the world on which we walk. This is a soundtrack for the urban age. Sounds to lift us above the detritus which envelops and strangles us.” Of the video director Akiko Haruna adds: “The effect humans have on the planet is something that I am conscious of daily. Anthropocene shows our world, compressed onto the Wrangler logo. Over it looms three ugly heads, representing the human ego and how we might view ourselves as deities or Gods; the overseers of our world. Within the Wrangler world, we show a range of things happening in our current world such as sweat shops, deforestation, farming, fracking, sustainable energy, transport, etc. It was an immense privilege to work with 3D animator Ben Chan, who helped this world come to life. The situation is a serious one and I am very afraid, so to keep things bearable I like to force a slice of humour in everything. The space ship at the end is a little light relief from the situation; Escape. Realistically, I am much more for saving what we have and would rather not ditch our beautiful planet, but there’s nothing like a little space expedition to keep the options open.”

When Wrangler first formed they had a very simple modus operandi. The clue was in their name. Ben ‘Benge’ Edwards (The Maths), Stephen ‘Mal’ Mallinder (Cabaret Voltaire) and Phil Winter (Tuung) would get together with a very select kit list of careworn analogue synthesisers and vintage digital sequencers. Their task? To wrangle new music from the ancient equipment. These self-imposed restrictions helped produced two classic long players: LA Spark (2014) and White Glue (2016).

Sibelius - "Symphony No. 1 (Radio Philh. Orch., cond. David Robertson)" [Classical]

Description : Sibelius: Symphony No. 1 - Radio Philharmonic Orchestra led by David Robertson - Live Concert HD

The Radio Philharmonic Orchestra led by David Robertson plays the imaginative and colourful 'Symphony No. 1' by Jean Sibelius during The Sunday Morning Concert of Sunday the 17th of November 2019.

On the musical program:
Jean Sibelius - The Symphony No. 1 in E minor, Op. 39

The musicians:
Radio Philharmonic Orchestra
David Robertson [conductor]

Recording: Sunday the 17th of November 2019, live in Het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

The Symphony No. 1 in E minor, Op. 39, by Jean Sibelius is a symphony started in 1898, and finished in early 1899, when Sibelius was 33. The work was first performed on 26 April 1899 by the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by the composer, in an original version which has not survived. After the premiere, Sibelius made some revisions, resulting in the version performed today. The revised version was completed in the spring and summer of 1900, and was first performed in Berlin by the Helsinki Philharmonic, conducted by Robert Kajanus on 1 July 1900.

The symphony is characterized by its use of string and woodwind solos; the first movement opens with a long and discursive clarinet solo over a timpani roll; (this idea returns at the start of the fourth movement, fortissimo in the strings, with wind and brass chordal accompaniment), and subsequent movements include violin, viola, and cello solos.

Most performances of the work last between 35 and 40 minutes. Many conductors choose to slacken the speeds suggested by Sibelius's metronome markings, particularly in the fast part (allegro energico) of the first movement. Because of this, many versions of the symphony are about 38–40 minutes long (the publishers suggest the duration is 40 minutes).

Description : Mendelssohn: Piano Concerto No. 1 - Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and Stephen Hough - Live Concert HD

The Radio Philharmonic Orchestra led by David Robertson and British virtuoso pianist Stephen Hough play Mendelssohn's 'Piano Concerto No. 1' during The Sunday Morning Concert of Sunday the 17th of November 2019.

On the musical program:
Felix Mendelssohn - Piano Concerto No. 1 in G minor, Op. 25

The musicians:
Radio Philharmonic Orchestra
David Robertson [conductor]
Stephen Hough [piano]

Recording: Sunday the 17th of November 2019, live in Het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto No. 1 in G minor, Op. 25, was written in 1830–31, around the same time as his fourth symphony ("Italian"), and premiered in Munich in October 1831. This concerto was composed in Rome during a travel in Italy after the composer met a pianist in Munich. Mendelssohn attended one party after another in Munich in October 1831, the month of the premiere, but he also played chamber music and taught double counterpoint. He performed the piece himself at the premiere, which also included performances of his Symphony No. 1 and the Overture from Midsummer Night's Dream. He had already written a piano concerto in A minor with string accompaniment (1822) and two concertos with two pianos (1823–24).

With sound blasts as epic as the collaboration itself, ‘Tricky Tricky’ goes all out from the off to blow every sound system to pieces. Conjured up by W&W, Timmy Trumpet and Will Sparks in tandem with featured artist Sequenza, this track leaves room for only one thing: jumping up and down like there’s no tomorrow.

Originating from the Netherlands' North Brabant province, W&W are an electronic dance music DJ and production duo who have specialized in commercial, big-room house and trance. The Ws stand for Willem van Hanegem and Wardt van der Harst. They met in 2007 and quickly gained support from the likes of Tiësto and David Guetta, as well as Armin van Buuren, whose radio show, A State of Trance, began to regularly feature the duo's prolific supply of productions and remixes the same year. Van Hanegem and van der Harst released a double-length album, Impact, in 2011, but they reached a much broader audience in 2014 with "Bigfoot," a single that cracked the Top 30 of the Dutch Single Top 100 chart and dented Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs survey in the U.S. Also in 2014, W&W began a long-running program, Mainstage -- named after their label, Mainstage Music -- broadcast on the Netherlands' SLAM! station. The duo steadily recorded and performed during the next few years. In 2017, they debuted their trance-oriented WNYR ("new year") side project with a remix of Ed Sheeran's "Castle on the Hill."

A native of Loganville, Georgia, singer/songwriter Jon Langston began playing guitar in his early teens, gravitating toward football in his college years. After some injuries left him sidelined, he rekindled his interest in country music and began writing songs that he played for friends, and posted on YouTube. Encouraged by his music's reception, he contacted producer Josh Manuel and headed to Atlanta to record his first EP, Young & Reckless, which he self-released in 2013. Citing both country and rock influences from George Strait to Staind, Langston's first few songs fared well on the iTunes country charts and he soon found himself opening shows for bro-country artist Chase Rice. He followed up with a second EP in late 2013, which featured the feel-good single "Runnin' on Sunshine," co-written by fellow Georgian and former Voice contestant Jordan Rager. Following his ambitions, Langston moved to Nashville, releasing the single "Party Boots" in 2014, followed by his third EP, Showtime. Released in May 2015, Showtime would prove to be Langston's first breakout reaching number 26 on Billboard's Top Country Album's chart. Wasting no time, he followed up that December with a self-titled EP faring equally well on the charts. Displaying his range, Langston next appeared on a 2016 track by Atlanta-based metalcore band Issues. A pair of chart-topping singles, "Prob'ly at a Bar" and "When It Comes to Loving You" followed in 2017 and 2018, respectively.

Robbie (Polle) Eduard (Delft, 2 December 1948) is a Dutch singer, musician, copywriter and composer.

Eduard grew up in the Wippolder in The Hague, the Netherlands and started playing with Peter Tetteroo's Tee Set in 1965 as a sixteen-year-old. Due to a fight within the Tee Set, Eduard founded the After Tea group in 1967 with Hans van Eijck. In 1968, under the pseudonym De Martino's, the group had a big hit with 'Moest dat nou', a parody of De Heikrekels' music. When Van Eijck returned to the Tee Set in 1969, Eduard assumed the leadership of After Tea.

Eduard recorded his debut album 'Net Op Tijd' with record company Polydor in 1976. The single 'De Bokser' was on this album. The record was not a hit, and due to the lack of success, Eduard again started working with Peter Koelewijn in 1978. Together they were responsible for Nico Haak's big hit 'Is Je Moeder Niet Thuis'.

In 1979, Koelewijn also produced Polle Eduard's single 'Ik wil jou'. The song became a modest hit: it reached #33 in the Dutch Top 40 on 5 May 1969.

This tv appearance was recorded and broadcast by the TROS TV Program 'Op Volle Toeren' on 20 april 1979

English pop singer Dua Lipa showcases a throwback vibe and a knack for catchy pop with soulful grit, much like Sia, Jessie J, or P!nk, and a slyly rebellious air like Charli XCX or Marina & the Diamonds. After a steady rise in the U.K., she broke onto the U.S. charts with a series of collaborations with Sean Paul, Martin Garrix, and Calvin Harris, as well as multi-platinum singles "New Rules" and "IDGAF" from her 2017 debut, Dua Lipa. In 2019, she won Grammy awards for Best New Artist and Best Dance Recording for her collaboration with Silk City, "Electricity."

British rock quintet Blossoms formed in Stockport, a town just outside of Manchester, England, in 2013. Started by school chums Tom Ogden (vocals, guitar) and Joe Donovan (drums), the band later incorporated Charlie Salt (bass, vocals), Josh Dewhurst (guitar), and Myles Kellock (keyboards, vocals). Their sound was pigeonholed as psych-pop, which the band didn't like; rather, they hit a sweet spot between the Doors and Arctic Monkeys, combining a knack for classic pop songwriting and moody organ atmospherics with a youthful energy. Ogden's delivery occupied the space between Richard Ashcroft (the Verve) and Alex Turner, of the aforementioned Monkeys, as the band slithered from spooky, groovy warmth to peppy Brit-pop. Debut single "You Pulled a Gun on Me" was a fine example of this combination, and the band continued to develop on subsequent singles "Blow" and "Cut Me and I'll Bleed." 2015 saw the release of two EPs -- Blown Rose and Charlemagne. As the band gained exposure, they released another EP, At Most a Kiss, in February 2016. The four-song set featured some new elements to the band's sound, including prominent synths and a more driving urgency. A month later, Blossoms revealed plans for their debut full-length. The self-titled Blossoms was released in summer 2016, topping U.K. and Scottish charts. Months later, they bolstered the effort with an extended edition that included ten additional songs. In early 2018, Blossoms issued the singles "I Can't Stand It" and "There's a Reason Why (I Never Returned Your Calls)," which both appeared on their sophomore effort, Cool Like You, an even further pop-leaning record that arrived in April.

Description : Slowly Slowly - Safety Switch [Official Music Video]

Slowly Slowly's track Safety Switch is out now:

Video by Michael Roberts

St. Leonards – Slowly Slowly’s second album – is a vivid snapshot of the life of Slowly Slowly Ben Stewart and those closest to him.

Lyrically dense yet restrained instrumentally to allow room for striking imagery and vibrant metaphors, Stewart veers between stream-of-consciousness accounts of futile existence in the city to rich narratives about love, life and the family cornerstone at St. Leonards beach.

Balancing raw honesty with engaging hooks, there’s the child-like opener “Dinosaurs” and “Aliens” whose thought-purging social commentary sneers at the world through the glummest lens. Elsewhere he examines complicated family dynamics on “The Cold War”, the Tinder-riddled search for happiness on “Ten Leaf Clover” and finally it all falling into place on “Alchemy”. Throughout St. Leonards, Stewart captures the world around him in full colour.
