Jona Lewie - "Stop The Cavalry (TopPop)" [Pop]

Stop The Cavalry (TopPop)

"Stop The Cavalry (TopPop)" music video by Jona Lewie
Added: 26-12-2019
Genre : Pop
Description : Jona Lewie - Stop The Cavalry • TopPop

'Stop The Cavalry' is a song written and performed by Jona Lewie. In December 1980 the single reached third place in the UK Singles Chart. In the Netherlands, the top spot was number 9 in the Dutch Top 40 and number 6 in the Nationale Hit Parade. The number appears regularly in various end-of-year and Christmas hit lists.

Nowadays the song is mainly seen as Christmas hit, but was not composed for that purpose. It is actually a protest song against wars. It contains only one line with a reference to Christmas: 'Wish I was at home for Christmas'.

This video was recorded by TopPop and broadcast during the Christmas edition of 26 December 1980.

Apple Music:

A swaggering, coolly confidant vocalist, Toni Romiti's hypnotic, downtempo-influenced R&B belies her bold stage persona and outspoken attitude. Emerging initially as a star on social media during her early college days, Romiti walked away from a promising basketball career after her single "Nothing on Me" blew up online. The daughter of an Italian-American musician father and African-American mother, Romiti was born Antoinette Nicole Romiti-Coleman in 1995 and grew up in Chicago. From a young age she knew she wanted to sing, listening to a broad array of music from Michael Jackson and the Beatles to Britney Spears and Chris Brown. She also imbibed the pop and EDM albums favored by her older siblings. By her teens she was posting cover songs online, and eventually began writing and uploading her own material.

At the same, however, she was a talented athlete and left high school with a basketball scholarship to the University of South Carolina Upstate. While there, she continued to pursue her music, and kept up a robust social media presence on Vine. In 2014, her song "Nothing on Me" went viral. The success prompted Romiti to make the choice to leave school, forgoing her basketball career, and return to Chicago to focus on her music. Two independent EPs followed, the latter of which launched the viral hit "Imma Dog Too." The song even caught the attention of celebrities like Kylie Jenner, who promoted the track online and helped solidify Romiti as a hot property. Buoyed by her growing fan base, she signed with RCA, and in 2018 she delivered her debut major-label EP, Tomboy, featuring the singles "Never Thought" and "Options."

Originally known as Lil' Boosie, Boosie Badazz's hard Southern style comes from growing up in one of Baton Rouge, Louisiana's more notorious neighborhoods, one that was known for drugs and gunplay. Not having his father in his life was another challenge, but things began moving in a positive direction when Boosie immersed himself in basketball. It looked like it could be his ticket into college, but getting involved in drugs got him kicked out of high school. He turned to rapping and eventually hooked up with C-Loc. An appearance on C-Loc's 2000 effort, It's a Gamble, became Boosie's debut. He soon released the full-length CD Youngest of da Camp on his own. His big breakthrough began when he joined Pimp C's Trill Entertainment camp. He was paired with fellow Trill artist Webbie for the 2003 release Ghetto Stories and again for 2004's Gangsta Musik, which featured the first appearance of Webbie's future hit "Give Me That." Trill then worked a deal with the Warner Bros.-associated Asylum, and both Webbie and Boosie were now on a major label.

Webbie released his album in 2005; Boosie's landed in 2006. Titled Bad Azz, the release featured Yung Joc, Pimp C, and Webbie as guests. The Bad Azz DVD soon followed, featuring interview footage in which Boosie explained the drug-related death of his father and revealed his own battle with diabetes. Late in the year, the Streetz Is Mine mixtape appeared in cooperation with DJ Drama. His slick album Superbad: The Return of Boosie Bad Azz landed in 2009 along with the single "Better Believe It." The next year, Boosie followed up with Incarcerated, which was issued while he served time for drug possession. After his 2014 release from prison, he changed his name to Boosie Badazz and was featured on several tracks, including ones by Jeezy ("Beez Like") and T.I. ("Jet Fuel"). He also issued Life After Deathrow, a mixtape, as a free digital download. The proper album Touchdown 2 Cause Hell followed in 2015 on Atlantic. It featured the single "Like a Man" along with guest appearances from Chris Brown, Rich Homie Quan, T.I., and Rick Ross. In 2016 he dropped the crime-themed street release Thug Talk along with Penitentiary Chances, a collaborative album with the then-incarcerated C-Murder, who recorded his verses from behind bars. A slew of mixtapes arrived that same year, including In My Feelings (Goin' Thru It), Out My Feelings (In My Past), and Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas. Studio full-length BooPac arrived in 2017, alongside the Hurricane Chris collaboration My Favorite Mixtape and its quick follow-up, 2018's My Favorite Mixtape 2. Boosie also tried his hand at being a romancing soul man on the silky Boosie Blues Cafe, which was followed by another seasonal tape, Savage Holidays, which featured appearances by YFN Lucci, Rich Homie Quan, and more.
The prolific emcee continued in 2019 with the single "Bonnie and Clyde."

Coming up somewhere between Wiz Khalifa's loose flow and hedonistic lyrics and Lil B's free spirit and love of alternative-flavored beats, Atlanta's Trinidad James went from viral to Def Jam signee, and all in his rookie season. Born Nicholas Williams in Trinidad & Tobago but raised in Atlanta, he was a 24-year-old manager of a downtown streetwear boutique when he decided to try his hand at rapping and become Trinidad James. That was late 2011, and in October of 2012, Trinidad dropped his debut mixtape, Don't Be S.A.F.E., which featured the viral hit "All Gold Everything." In December of that year, as the "All Gold Everything" video passed the three-million-views mark, Def Jam announced their signing of the rapper and released the "All Gold Everything" remix with verses from T.I., Young Jeezy, and 2 Chainz added to the track. The label gave the Don't Be S.A.F.E. mixtape an official release in early 2013. A second mixtape was released later that year. 10 PC Mild featured spots by Travi$ Scott, D4L, Danny Brown, Rich Homie Quan, Gucci Mane, and Childish Gambino.

James continued to drop mixtapes with the Gold Gang label, occupying 2015 with a trio of releases: The Wake Up, No One Is Safe, and Trips to Trinidad. He also appeared on a remix of Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars' "Uptown Funk" and Cash Cash's "The Gun" with Dev and Chrish. In 2016, James returned focus to his own output, dropping the single "Just a Lil' Thick (She Juicy)" with Mystikal and Lil Dicky.

Michael David Rosenberg (born 17 May 1984), better known by his stage name Passenger, is an English singer-songwriter and musician. Previously the main vocalist and songwriter of Passenger, Rosenberg opted to keep the band's name for his solo work after the band dissolved in 2009. His most successful single, "Let Her Go", has topped the charts in many countries. In 2014, the song was nominated for the Brit Award for British Single of the Year, and he received the British Academy's Ivor Novello Award for Most Performed Work.

On 2 May 2019, Passenger both announced and released a new album, entitled Sometimes It's Something, Sometimes It's Nothing at All. Unlike more recent Passenger albums, the record is arranged entirely for vocals, acoustic guitar and a string quartet. All the profits from sales will be donated to Shelter, a UK-based homeless charity.

A reggae revivalist with more of a roots influence than most, Jamaican singer Protoje rose to success in 2011 with the release of his debut full-length, The Seven Year Itch, and its hit single "Rasta Love," which featured Ky-Mani Marley. Subsequent hits like 2013's "Kingston Be Wise" and the 2015 Chronixx collaboration "Who Knows" helped elevate his status as an international reggae star.

Born Oje Ken Ollivierre, music was a constant in his early life, with his mother, Lorna Bennett, having scored a hit in 1972 with a reggae version of "Breakfast in Bed" and his father, Mike Ollivierre, a calypso singer from Saint Vincent. Protoje's first release, the 2005 mixtape, Lyrical Overdose, Vol. 1, was more overtly hip-hop-influenced, though he began to work toward a reggae/roots sound over the next few years with his cousin, producer Don Corleon. Beginning with the 2009 track "Arguments," he issued a steady diet of singles in advance of his 2011 full-length debut, The Seven Year Itch. One of the album's singles, "Rasta Love" featuring Ky-Mani Marley, became an international hit, elevating his status as a budding star. Following the 2012 mixtape This Is Protoje, he delivered his follow-up album, 2013's The 8 Year Affair, which yielded another hit, "Kingston Be Wise," and charted throughout Europe and the U.S. Protoje's third album, 2015's Ancient Future, proved to be his breakout and, two weeks after its release, sat atop the Billboard reggae chart thanks in part to the Chronixx collaboration "Who Knows." A five-song EP, Royalty Free (Side B) was released as a free download on the singer's birthday in June 2016. Working again with producer Winta James and featuring a second collaboration with Chronixx in "No Guarantee," Protoje returned in 2018 with his fourth album, A Matter of Time.

"Randy Mo$$" Out Now:

Directed by James Mackel

MC and producer Kid Ink -- born Brian Todd Collins in Los Angeles, California, and formerly known as Rockstar -- rose steadily by releasing a series of four mixtapes during 2010 and 2011. XXL magazine was impressed enough to list him beside the likes of Danny Brown and Macklemore in its Freshman Class feature for 2012. That June, Kid Ink released Up & Away, his first proper studio album, via Tha Alumni. Although it featured beats from several producers -- including Ned Cameron, Cardiak, Jahlil Beats, and the Amazinz -- there were no guest verses, and therefore no disruptions in Kid Ink's nonchalant flow. It peaked at number 20 on the Billboard 200 chart and reached number three on the publication's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

After another mixtape, he signed to major-label RCA and released his second effort, My Own Lane, in 2014. Tyga, Chris Brown, and Pusha-T all made guest appearances. By September of 2014, the single "Body Language" (featuring Usher and Tinashe) announced the release of Kid Ink's third album, Full Speed. It appeared in February 2015 and was followed later in the year by the mixtape Summer in the Winter. In 2016, Kid Ink issued RSS2, the sequel to his 2012 mixtape Rocketshipshawty. The spring of 2017 saw the release of his second EP, 7 Series, which features guest spots from Ty Dolla $ign, 2 Chainz, and Starrah. The tropical-tinged single "Tell Somebody" arrived in January 2018, soon followed by "One Time," "Woop Woop," and "Big Deal." Another single, "Champion," appeared in August 2019.

From their inauspicious origins within a very crowded extreme music scene, Sweden's Crown slowly rose to the very top of the Scandinavian death metal class. Interestingly, throughout this gradual but inexorable climb, the members of the Crown didn't distinguish themselves for bringing innovations to the genre so much as for their unapologetic commitment to pure, unadulterated, lightning-fast, ear-shredding, Satan-worshiping death metal. "Crown of Thorns," as they were originally named, formed in the city of Trollhattan, Sweden, circa 1990.
