Memphis rapper NLE Choppa rose to fame almost overnight on the back of a viral hit and a charismatic social media presence. At just 16, the rapper was fielding record deal offers from major labels, sometimes with advances in the millions. Ever the entrepreneur, NLE Choppa turned down the contracts, opting instead for a distribution deal that allowed him to keep the rights to his music. With just a few punchy tracks to his name, the young rapper was already world famous by early 2019, with streaming numbers in the millions.

NLE Choppa was born Bryson Potts in 2002. Raised in a rough part of Memphis, Potts focused on basketball when growing up but began freestyling with friends at age 14. The next year he decided to take his music to the next level, entering the studio and putting down raps inspired by Southern rappers like NBA Youngboy, Meek Mill, and Lil Wayne. He first went under the name YNR Choppa and released several tracks under that moniker. He soon switched over to using the name NLE Choppa, the NLE standing for his brand "No Love Entertainment." Along with other teenage rapper friends he posted several videos, some gaining traction regionally. It was his January 2019 single, "Shotta Flow," that broke through worldwide, with an exciting and boisterous video accumulating tens of millions of views in a matter of months. From there, major-label interest began, but Choppa turned all offers down, keeping ownership of his songs. He spent most of 2019 releasing new singles, including installments like "I Don't Need No Help," "Shotta Flow 2," "Shotta Flow 3," and "Camelot." These culminated in his debut EP, Cottonwood, which arrived in November that year.

Ursprünglich kommt Alberto d'Ascola aus Italien. Mit Mitte 20 zog er allerdings nach Jamaica, um dem Reggae und seinen Ursprüngen näher zu sein. Er ist einer der wenigen weißen Reggae-Musiker, die es geschafft haben, auf Jamaika zum Star zu werden.
Der Italiener Alberto D'Ascola ist in Sizilien geboren und aufgewachsen, aber seine musikalische Heimat ist seit vielen Jahren Jamaika. Mittlerweile hat er beide Staatsbürgerschaften.
In Italien war er bereits ein gefeierter Reggae-Star, als er sich 2001 entschloss, in die Karibik zu ziehen. Dort hatte er es anfangs nicht leicht. Aber mit viel Talent und Arbeit schaffte der Multiinstrumentalist auch im Mutterland des Reggae eine große Karriere.
Alborosie schreibt und produziert fast alle seine Riddims selbst. Er ist unter anderem für seine Zusammenarbeit mit dem deutschen Reggaestar Gentleman bekannt.
Im Oktober 2011 wurde er als erster Weißer mit dem M.O.B.O. (Music of Black Origin Award) in der Kategorie Reggae prämiert. Er tourt gemeinsam mit seiner Band Shengen Clan um die Welt und feiert 2019 sein 25-jähriges Bühnenjubiläum.

Sicilian reggae artist Alborosie refers to himself as the Italian Reggae Ambassador, building on a lifelong love of roots reggae and slowly becoming one of the more unlikely dancehall and reggae stars in Jamaica. Growing up playing in reggae bands in Italy, he eventually relocated to Kingston when it was time to start a solo career in the early 2000s. After the release of his 2008 debut Soul Pirate, Alborosie took the fast track with his music, releasing albums prolifically over the next decade and even working with members of Bob Marley's legendary backing band the Wailers on his 2018 album Unbreakable: Alborosie Meets the Wailers United.

Boris Brejcha (born November 26, 1981 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein) is a German DJ and music producer. He describes his music style as "High-Tech Minimal." He uses the "joker mask" as his signature outlook, being inspired by the Carnival in Rio, at the times when he was performing for the first time, in Brazil. Since then, he has been performing at clubs around the world and at some of the biggest festivals such as Tomorrowland, Timewarp and Exit festival. Boris and his friends Ann Clue and Deniz Bul founded the label "Fckng Serious" in 2015. In August, 2019, he performed for the first time in Ibiza at Hï Ibiza club.

Jan. 13, 2020 | Suraya Mohamed -- Sometimes, things don't go smoothly at the Tiny Desk. After traveling all night, the soulful R&B artist Jordan Rakei and his band pulled up to NPR in their tour bus at the crack of dawn, only to find the Fender Rhodes we'd rented for him didn't have the right action. But after quickly ordering a replacement (that arrived moments before the Tiny Desk performance started), Rakei and his band locked-in and played a phenomenal set.

The band opened with "Say Something," from the group's 2019 album, Origin. It's a song that encourages people to take action and speak up for themselves. They followed with "Mind's Eye," a commentary on technology that questions whether advancements are always a good idea. After playing "Talk To Me," from the group's 2016 debut album, Cloak, they returned to their most recent release to close with "Speak," a reflective song with a beautiful solo piano accompaniment. Inspired by the TV show and book The Handmaid's Tale, it imagines a world where nuclear war has left half the women infertile, as technology runs amok.

Despite the sometimes dystopian themes in his music, Rakei's sound is easygoing and colorful. While steady grooves connect his singular blend of jazz and R&B, his tight chord voicings, compelling rhythms and mesmerizing vocals make for a wonderful performance.

Jordan Rakei (born 23 May 1992) is a New Zealand-Australian musician, singer, songwriter and record producer currently based in London, United Kingdom. Rakei has also released and performed under the moniker Dan Kye.

On 23 April 2019, Rakei posted a video on Instagram, announced his new album Origin and released a new single off the album called "Say Something". The album was released on 14 June 2019 on all digital platforms.

Japanese death metal band Defiled was formed in Tokyo in 1992 and initially featured guitarist Yusuke Sumita, bassist Norihisa Fukuda, vocalist Masafumi Kitamura, and drummer Kouji Uchida, but the last two didn't make it past the group's self-financed debut EP from 1994, Defeat of Sanity. Their replacements were Hideki Fujimoto and Yuichi Ishiguro, respectively, but Defiled existed as little more than a domestic touring unit until 1999, when they finally earned an international deal with American Nightfall Records for the release of their first full album, Erupted Wrath. 2001's Ugliness Revealed (featuring temporary drummer Naoki Akamatsu) and 2003's Divination followed in due course and garnered mostly enthusiastic press to go with the group's numerous U.S. festival performances and equally positive comparisons to technical death titans like Gorguts and Suffocation. However, the buzz was short-lived, as instead of capitalizing on the success of Divination, the band decided to take a "creative break." That period of inactivity would last nearly eight years, ending with the release of 2011's Bill Metoyer-produced In Crisis, which was released via Season of Mist. After another extended break, this time only four years, the band returned with Towards Inevitable Ruin in 2016.

The Symphony No. 5 in E minor, Op. 64 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky was composed between May and August 1888 and was first performed in St Petersburg at the Mariinsky Theatre on November 17 of that year with Tchaikovsky conducting. It is dedicated to Theodor Avé-Lallemant.

The fifth symphony was composed in 1888, between the Manfred Symphony of 1885 and the sketches for a Symphony in Eb, which were abandoned in 1892 (apart from recuperating material from its first movement for an Allegro Brillante for piano and orchestra a year later). As for the numbered symphonies, Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5 was composed between Symphony No. 4, which had been completed ten years earlier, and Symphony No. 6, composed 5 years later, in the year of the composer's death.

Silent Woods is the translated title of the composition by Antonín Dvorak initially published under the German title Waldesruhe. It is the fifth part of the cycle for piano four-hands, Ze Sumavy (From the Bohemian Forest) Op. 68, B. 133, composed in 1883. The work is also transcribed by the composer for cello and piano (B. 173) and for cello and orchestra (B. 182).

The original piano cycle Op. 68 was composed in 1883 on demand of Fritz Simrock. As it was popular in the late nineteenth century to make arrangements of popular works for other instruments, on 28 December 1891 Dvorak made an arrangement for cello and piano of the fifth piece, for a farewell concert tour he gave with violinist Ferdinand Lachner and cellist Hanuš Wihan in the first months of 1892 before embarking for the New World. The arrangement became so popular that Dvorak made a new arrangement for cello and orchestra on 28 October 1893. The arrangements were first published in the fall of 1894 by Fritz Simrock, who changed the German title given by Dvorak – Die Ruhe (The Silence), a literal translation from the Czech Klid – to Waldesruhe (Silent Woods).

Like the other pieces in Op.68, Silent Woods is a lyrical character piece, bearing the tempo marking Lento e molto cantabile for the main, dreamy theme in Db major, which is reprised (Lento. Tempo I) after a light intermezzo (Un pochettino più mosso) in C# minor.

Stunna 4 Vegas is a North Carolina rapper with a brusk, antagonistic approach influenced by fellow Southerners such as T.I. and Gucci Mane. Within a few years, he went from an aspiring teenaged MC to a respected underground figure to a major-label signee. After he built up a sizeable discography of mixtapes and stray tracks, and linked up with DaBaby on the single "Animal," Stunna made his commercial full-length debut with Big 4x (2019).

Born Khalick Caldwell, Stunna started rapping during his last year of high school in his native Salisbury, a city between Winston-Salem and Charlotte. As simply Stunna, he made small strides independently with releases including 4 Way or No Way and Stunna Season 2. Later in 2018, he sought DaBaby for a guest verse on the single "Animal" and subsequently signed with the emergent Charlotte artist's Billion Dollar Baby label. Stunna and DaBaby continued to record together, and they both eventually landed major-label deals with Interscope. In May 2019, Stunna made his Interscope debut with the full-length Big 4x, featuring DaBaby on "Ashley" and "Sticks," Offset on "4th of July," Lil Durk on "Durkio," and additional collaborations with NLE Choppa and Young Nudy.
