Jack River - "Stranger Heart EP (Album Stream)" [Pop, Album Streams]

Stranger Heart EP (Album Stream)

"Stranger Heart EP (Album Stream)" music video by Jack River
Added: 13-02-2020
Genre : Pop, Album Streams
Description : Jack River is the nom de plume of New South Wales-based producer, multi-instrumentalist, and singer/songwriter Holly Rankin. Originally performing under her own name, Rankin's laid-back, psych-tinged electropop earned her a loyal local following. As she began to make waves in Sydney, she took on the Jack River moniker, eventually catching the attention of Aussie indie I Oh You Records. Her first single under the pseudonym, the Rankin-and-Xavier Dunn-produced "Talk Like That," was issued by the label in early 2016 in anticipation of the release of her debut EP, Highway Songs #2, later that year. Two more singles, "Fault Line" and "Ballroom," followed in 2017 and 2018, respectively.

Before topping the charts with her 2018 debut solo album Camila, vocalist Camila Cabello found fame as a member of the girl group Fifth Harmony. With her resonant voice, buoyant charisma, and Latin roots, Cabello was a standout member of the band, which formed while competing on the second season of Fox's The X Factor in 2012. After the show ended, the singer and her bandmates enjoyed several years of break-out success, scoring two Top Five Billboard 200 albums with 2015's Reflection and 2016's 7/27, and spawning the hits "BO$$," "Worth It," and "Work from Home." While still with the group, she began branching out, collaborating on "I Know What You Did Last Summer" with Shawn Mendes and "Bad Things" with Machine Gun Kelly (the latter of which hit number four on the Billboard Hot 100). However, it was after her heavily publicized departure from Fifth Harmony in 2017 that Cabello achieved her biggest success, debuting on top of the Billboard 200 with Camila, and nabbing her first solo number one single with "Havana."

Following a tour, Cabello returned to the studio and in June 2019 and issued the single "Señorita" with singer Shawn Mendes. The single hit number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and paved the way for the duo's headline-grabbing performance of the song that November at the American Music Awards, where they also took home the award for Favorite Collaboration. The song also earned them a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. In December 2019, Cabello released her sophomore full-length album, Romance, which featured songwriting and production contributions by Andrew Watt, Finneas O'Connell, Justin Tranter, and others. Along with "Señorita," Romance also featured the tracks "Liar," "Shameless," and "Living Proof."

Atlanta-based rap/trap producer Xavier L. Dotson (aka Zaytoven) played a central role in popularizing the wave of trap music -- particularly in his home city -- that began in the mid-2000s. In addition to winning a Grammy in 2011 for his work with Usher, Dotson is most known for his work with rappers Gucci Mane, Migos, and Future.

His work garnered much attention over the years -- with his piano lines becoming a signature of his productions -- resulting in his first Grammy in 2011 for his work on Usher's Raymond v. Raymond. Around the mid-2010s, public attention was growing toward producers, with names such as Mike WiLL Made-It, Metro Boomin, and Boi-1da becoming stars in their own right; Zaytoven was no different, gradually moving further into the spotlight. By 2017, Dotson had begun touring with the musicians he produced for -- playing various pianos and keytars on-stage -- as well as signing to Motown. His full-length debut album, Trapholizay, arrived in May 2018, entering the Top 100 of the Billboard 200. The effort featured a roster of familiar faces including Gucci Mane, Young Dolph, Rick Ross, Yo Gotti, Future, Lil Uzi Vert, 21 Savage, T.I., and Quavo and Offset of Migos. A month later, the producer issued his collaboration with Christian rapper Lecrae. Let the Trap Say Amen debuted in the Top 50 on the Billboard 200. 2019 saw Dotson team up with Chief Keef for the Glotoven mixtape.

RJ Thompson (born 25 June 1985) is a British singer-songwriter. Thompson came to prominence in 2014 after touring as support act for UK pianist Jools Holland, performing at venues including the Royal Albert Hall.

Following an open mic night at The Studio in Hartlepool in 2004, he was asked to open the show the following night for Live Aid organiser Midge Ure. During this time period RJ was working on his album Illogical Life which was released to the public in 2006, originally under his full name Richard John Thompson. RJ recently explained in a radio interview with Radio Teesdale that he shortened his name to RJ to avoid confusion with the Fairport Convention singer Richard Thompson.

Following the release of Illogical Life and the subsequent Acoustic Sessions EP, RJ spent the following 3 years touring Germany with Midge Ure and the UK with The Proclaimers, Sandi Thom and Gabriella Cilmi among others.

RJ released a cover version of the Bob Dylan classic The Times They Are A-Changin' on 3 February 2017.

Milwaukee-born, Atlanta-raised rapper K Camp started performing in high school as part of a group called HBC. The group split, in part due to lack of ambition, but K Camp took his talent a little more seriously -- albeit without any plan of making a career out of it. He continued to perform and record on his own and, in 2009, released the party anthem "All Night," which gained some popularity in Atlanta. After enduring some business mishaps, including an alleged lack of recognition for his role in the making of Myko Montana's "Do It," K Camp continued to build his reputation through underground releases such as Fan4life, Show Money, and In Due Time. The last of the three featured "Money Baby," one of the best showcases for his laconic, laid-back flow to that point. It was also his first single to chart -- a number 19 hit on Billboard's Hot Rap Tracks. 2 Chainz collaboration "Cut Her Off," the lead single from the Interscope-released EP In Due Time, reached number six and went platinum. Only Way Is Up, K Camp's debut album, followed in 2015 with appearances from T.I., Bun B, and Jeremih, among others. In 2016, K Camp dropped a single with 2 Chainz, "5 Minutes," as well as a mixtape, RARE. Two more mixtapes followed in 2017, K.I.S.S. 4 and SlumLords 2, as well as a single, "Good Problem."

Based in Denver, Colorado, Nathaniel Rateliff is a striking, emotive tenor vocalist and songwriter whose work runs the gamut from simple folk and Americana to roots rock & roll and vintage rhythm & blues. Although he earned critical acclaim for his quieter, more introspective folk-based albums, he broke out commercially in 2015 with the release of Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, the eponymous debut from his high-energy and soulful live band. Signed to the legendary Stax label, the band spent the next four years enjoying a high public profile, releasing a live album and studio follow-up before Rateliff returned to solo work with the reflective 2020 album, And It's Still Alright.

Exploring themes of love and loss, 2020's warmly introspective And It's Still Alright was inspired by both the singer's then-recent divorce and the death of his friend and producer, Richard Swift.

"Strange Fruit" is a song performed by Billie Holiday, who first sang and recorded it in 1939. Written by teacher Abel Meeropol as a poem and published in 1937, it protested American racism, particularly the lynching of African Americans. Such lynchings had reached a peak in the South at the turn of the century, but continued there and in other regions of the United States. The great majority of victims were black. The song's lyrics are an extended metaphor linking a tree’s fruit with lynching victims. Meeropol set it to music and, with his wife and the singer Laura Duncan, performed it as a protest song in New York City venues in the late 1930s, including Madison Square Garden.

The song has been covered by numerous artists, including Nina Simone, UB40, Jeff Buckley, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Robert Wyatt and Dee Dee Bridgewater, and has inspired novels, other poems, and other creative works. In 1978, Holiday's version of the song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. It was also included in the list of Songs of the Century, by the Recording Industry of America and the National Endowment for the Arts. It was also dubbed "a declaration of war ... the beginning of the civil rights movement".

-

Kandace Springs' refined mix of R&B, jazz, and pop has been showcased with Soul Eyes (2016) and Indigo (2018), albums the singer, songwriter, and keyboardist has released on Blue Note. The Nashville native's path to the revered label begins with her father, session vocalist Scat Springs, who introduced her to the piano and classic recordings by artists including Nina Simone and Luther Vandross. At the age of 15, the younger Springs recorded a demo with her father, who delivered the result to veteran producers Evan Rogers and Carl Sturken (Stephanie Mills, Christina Aguilera, Rihanna). Through the duo's support, Springs secured an audition for Blue Note president Don Was and landed a deal. The artist debuted in September 2014 -- two months after Prince flew her to Minneapolis to perform at Paisley Park -- with a self-titled EP created with the likes of Rogers, Sturken, and Pop & Oak. After she made featured appearances on tracks by Ghostface Killah, Aqualung, and Black Violin, Springs completed her first full-length, Soul Eyes. Released in June 2016 with production from Larry Klein, the album mixed originals and covers and favored lean instrumentation. For her comparatively layered follow-up, Springs worked extensively with Karriem Riggins and maintained her connection with Rogers and Sturken as two of her primary co-writers. Issued in September 2018, Indigo likewise featured interpretations of classic and contemporary songs, from Thom Bell and Linda Creed's "People Make the World Go Round" (popularized by the Stylistics) to Gabriel Garzón-Montano's "6 8."

Donna Missal is a songwriter who writes emotionally strong tunes about love and desire. She's also a singer whose voice, coolly seductive or openly emotional, proved to be an effective vehicle for her material. Setting her confessional lyrics against electronic backdrops that meld pop melodies with dynamics that bring a sense of drama to the songs, Missal established her style on early singles like "Keep Lying" and "The Keeper," while she consolidated her efforts on her first full-length album, 2018's This Time.

Missal was born and raised on the East Coast; her father was a musician and songwriter who ran a recording studio in New York City in the '80s, while her grandmother was also a songwriter in the '40s. When Donna's parents began raising a family, they moved to suburban New Jersey, and her dad built a home studio from his leftover equipment. Missal developed an interest in singing when she was young, and began joining in on family recording projects, including an annual Christmas album they passed along to friends and relatives. In her youth, Donna also got involved in community theater for kids, and it fueled her love of performing.

In her teens, Missal made the jump from acting to singing in bands, and she next took up songwriting. She struck a deal with BMI and started collaborating with other tunesmiths. In 2015, eager to kick-start her career, Missal recorded a slinky, seductive number called "Keep Lying," and while the track was created to persuade other performers to cut the tune, her powerful vocal caught the ears of music fans and the recording went viral. After "Keep Lying" racked up over 1.5 million plays on streaming services, Missal's career as a singer and a writer picked up; she brought out several more digital singles that were embraced by listeners, including "Sick" and "The Keeper," both released in 2016, and she landed bookings at several major music festivals, including Riot Fest and Bumbershoot. Missal's star continued to rise in 2017 with the release of two more singles, "Holiday" and "Transformer," as she worked on her first full-length album. This Time was released by Harvest Records in September 2018.

Chicago rapper Calboy looked to his own struggles with mental health and substance use when writing some of his hardest-hitting rhymes. Going so far as to name one of his mixtapes Anxiety, his songs loom heavy with moody melodies and huge trap beats. Several singles such as "Can't Tell" paved the way for new fans, but it was the 2018 single "Envy Me" that broke through to millions with a viral video.

Calboy was born Calvin Wood in 1999. He was raised in the gritty South Chicago neighborhood of Calumet City, growing up amid crime and violence. This hostile environment would influence his music early on, with lyrics reflecting both the tough conditions of street life and the anxiety and depression he felt because of it. He formed a crew of artists and friends called the Paper Gang and set about working on music both solo and with this collective. His first mixtape, The Chosen One, was released in 2017 and was followed months later that same year with second mixtape Anxiety. 2018 brought the brief ten-song mixtape Calboy the Wild Boy, released again with Paper Gang. While working on his next project, Calboy dropped the single "Envy Me" in September of 2018. The song caught on in a massive way, being streamed millions of times within its first few months of release. The buzz surrounding Calboy, the song and its place in a burgeoning scene of melodic rap coming out of Chicago was enough to land the rapper a major-label deal with RCA. In 2019, the Wildboy mixtape was assembled around the song, and included features from Lil Durk, Young Thug, Polo G, and others.

"Try Honesty" is a song by Canadian group Billy Talent. It was released in September 2003 as the lead single from their debut album Billy Talent.

The music video for "Try Honesty," which was directed by Sean Michael Turrell, features the band playing in the Whitby Psychiatric Hospital in Whitby, Ontario. The video hints that the hospital is haunted in several ways, such as shadows without bodies, inanimate objects moving (i.e.: a toy doll opens its eyes without being touched, moving furniture, moving swing), reflections while no-one is there and people in a family picture moving.

Taking inspiration from filmmakers, electronic artists, and folksingers alike, Hilary Woods crafts intimate, nocturnal keyboard-based songs as a solo artist. After scoring two Top 20 albums as the bassist for Irish indie rock band JJ72 in the early 2000s, she quit the music business, re-emerging in 2014 with her gentler soundscapes. Woods made her full-length solo debut with Colt in 2018.

A native of Dublin, Woods was raised in a musical environment, with parents who played classical, folk, and rock LPs in the home, and who encouraged her and her brother to play instruments. Hilary's main instrument was the piano.

In the late '90s, the then-18-year-old joined singer/guitarist Mark Greaney and drummer Fergal Matthews in their band JJ72 as bass player. The indie rock group soon signed with Sony imprint Lakota Records and had two Top 20 albums in the U.K. and Ireland with their 2000 eponymous debut and 2002's I to Sky. After four years of persistent touring, Woods left the band -- and the music industry – in 2002. A year later, she started a family.

Woods took some college courses while raising her daughter, and felt her creativity sparked by filmmakers, including Wong Kar-wai and Chris Marker, who she was exposed to in school. She eventually felt compelled to write music again, and began listening to more music, including the electronic works of Jon Hopkins and Vincent Gallo. Woods re-emerged in 2014 with a set of hushed acoustic songs on the EP Night. She started touring again and followed it in 2016 with the lusher but still gentle Heartbox, which also incorporated spacy keys. Woods expanded on that EP's eerie electronic-acoustic atmosphere on her full-length solo debut, Colt. It was released by Sacred Bones Records in 2018.

Fronted by former Escape the Fate frontman Ronnie Radke, Falling in Reverse is a post-hardcore band based out of Nevada. The band was formed by Radke while he was serving time in Nevada's High Desert State Prison for a 2008 parole violation. While imprisoned, Radke recruited guitarists Derek Jones and Jacky Vincent, drummer Ryan Seaman, and bassist Mika Horiuchi to help him realize the musical vision he was creating in his head while behind bars, meeting with his bandmates during visiting hours and spending the rest of his time writing. After serving two-and-a-half years of a four-year sentence, Radke was released in late 2010, and the band set to work on their debut, bringing their driving, melodic sound to life in 2011 with the release of The Drug in Me Is You. Horiuchi left the band and was replaced by Ron Ficarro in early 2012. That year, Radke and the new lineup returned to the studio to record their sophomore release, Fashionably Late. Released in mid-2013, the album saw the band adding hip-hop and electronic elements to their original post-hardcore sound. The album fared well on the charts, but received little support from critics. The band kicked off a tour in support of the effort, which was cut short by the birth of Radke's son.

In early 2014, Falling in Reverse hit the road again, this time with Radke's former band, Escape the Fate, on the Bury the Hatchet tour. Ficarro parted ways with the band once the tour concluded, his slot filled by Escape the Fate's Max Green (who ended up leaving the band after just five months, replaced by Zakk Sandler).

The band's third studio long-player, Just Like You (Epitaph), arrived in early 2015 and fared better with critics. Keeping Fashionably Late's experiments with hip-hop on the sidelines, Just Like You saw the band returning to a heavier and more scream-centric focus. They toured for much of the year, parting with longtime guitarist Jacky Vincent that October, and continuing promotion with his replacement Christian Thompson. Their fourth long-player, Coming Home, was released in the spring of 2017

Hailing from Virginia Beach, Turnover emerged in the early part of the 2010s, quickly outgrowing their emo and punk roots to create a more introspective sound that bordered on dream pop and melodic, guitar-based indie rock. Nurturing longtime relationships with both Run for Cover Records and Philadelphia producer Will Yip, the band continued to evolve their lush, hazy sound over records like 2015's Peripheral Vision and 2019's Altogether.
