With a sound composed of ferocious blastbeats, crushing guitar riffs, and menacing vocals, Winterfylleth (translated as "Winter Old Moon" in Old English) are a black metal outfit hailing from Manchester, England. Made up of vocalist/guitarist Chris Naughton, lead guitarist Richard Brass, and drummer Simon Lucas, the band was formed in 2007 with the line-up completed after the addition of bassist Chris Westby the following year. Having put out an independent demo titled Rising of the Winter Full Moon in 2007 and gaining attention on the live circuit, they went on to secure a record deal with Canadian label Profound Lore and put out their debut full-length The Ghost of Heritage in 2008. After the release and a nationwide tour, Brass left the group in 2009 and was replaced with Mark Wood; Nick Wallwork replaced Westby on bass. The band then moved to English label Candlelight Records and released their sophomore effort, The Mercian Sphere, in 2010. They promoted the album with an international tour that included appearances at festivals such as Wacken Open Air and Graspop in Europe, and the Bloodstock Festival in Derbyshire, England. 2012 saw the release of their third record, The Threnody of Triumph, before they went on the road to open for Norwegian metal act Enslaved. In 2014, they collaborated with Ukrainian black metal act Drudkh on a split-EP which featured a cover of "The Gates," by Hate Forest. Later that year they appeared on a compilation titled One and All, Together, For Home, which featured various metal acts covering traditional folk songs -- Winterfylleth delivered cover versions of "John Barleycorn" and "Abbots Bromley Horn Dance," two songs that date back to the Middle Ages. Both 2014 releases were put out by French label Seasons of Mist. The band's fourth effort, The Divination of Antiquity, was released in 2014 via Candlelight. In 2015, Dan Capp was brought into take up lead guitar duties, replacing Mark Wood. Later that year, the group won "Best Underground Band" at the 13th Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards. After the release of 2016's The Dark Hereafter -- released on Spinefarm Records -- Winterfylleth brought in Mark Deeks to handle keyboard duties and string arrangements. Deeks went on to record with the group for their sixth album, The Hallowing of Heirdom, also on Spinefarm, in April 2018.

One of the most active affiliates of the Quality Control label, Marlo, aka Lil Marlo, emerged from Atlanta in 2017 with output beside close friend and labelmate Lil Baby. He has since issued three solo mixtapes, including The Real1 (2019), and has appeared on both of QC's Control the Streets compilations.

A lifelong Atlantean, Marlo, born Rudolph Johnson, didn't consider getting involved with music until multiple acquaintances remarked that he should become a rapper. Fueled by his experiences on the streets, he was a quick study. He took part in a slew of Quality Control releases issued during the latter half of 2017. These included Lil Baby's Harder Than Hard track "Ride or Die," the full-length Lil Baby collaboration 2 the Hard Way, and a solo mixtape entitled The Wire. Additionally, he had two slots on the number five Billboard 200 entry Control the Streets, Vol. 1, featured with Lil Baby and Gucci Mane on "The Load" and showcased alone on "Live Like Dis," the finale. Within six months of 2018, Marlo was behind two more solo tapes, 9th Ward God and The Real1. The next year, he branched out with a verse on Yella Beezy's "Big Shit" and connected with City Girls and Offset for "Soakin Wet," a preview of Control the Streets, Vol. 2.

Bringing Chicago gangsta rap back to a raw and minimal style, MC 600Breezy exploded on the scene with a gruff voice and gang-praising lyrics. A member of the 600 set of the Black Disciples Nation, the Chicago native first hit in 2014 when he uploaded his solo track "Don't Get Smoked". A year later he joined fellow gang member Young Famous for the anthem "600 on Top," then that same year he hit solo with "Do Sum". In 2016, the track had topped over three-million views and found a home on the MC's release George Gervin. The mixtape included a guest appearance from veteran rapper OJ da Juiceman.

Made up of vocalist Jillian Hervey and producer Lucas Goodman, New York-based duo Lion Babe craft a unique version of spacy, evocative R&B. Coining the term "futuristic nostalgia" to describe their sound, they incorporated chopped-up samples, organic instruments, and atmospheric electronics on early singles as well as their 2016 debut full-length Begin.

For the next few years, the band kept fans sated with a steady stream of new singles and festival appearances. 2017 saw them issuing new songs "Rocket" and "Hit the Ceiling" as well as remix collections for both tracks. The next year they released several new songs including "Honey Dew" and "The Wave" (featuring Leikeli47), and the next year they preceded the release of their second album with single "Western World." The album featured guest spots by Raekwon, Bilal, and the previously released single with Leikeli47, and was released in March of 2019.

"The Promised Land" is a song by Bruce Springsteen from his 1978 album Darkness on the Edge of Town. It was released as a single in Europe, backed by another song from Darkness on the Edge of Town, "Streets of Fire", the third single from the album after "Badlands" and "Prove It All Night". "The Promised Land" was also included on the compilation album The Essential Bruce Springsteen.

A June 28, 2009 live performance in London from the Working on a Dream Tour was included on the London Calling: Live in Hyde Park DVD.

The event that sparked "The Promised Land" into existence was a trip to Utah and Nevada on August 16–20, 1977, with photographer Eric Meola (Born To Run cover) and guitarist Steven Van Zandt. After flying to Salt Lake City and renting an old red 1965 Ford Galaxy, the group set out towards Reno, Nevada, Meola looking for photo ops, Bruce to see some of the places he envisioned in his dreams. He was also upset, because one of his heroes, Elvis Presley, had just died. Springsteen “wanted to take every single side road that we could in Nevada,” according to Meola. On the trip, they slept in the Galaxy, saw the wilderness and got caught in a thunder storm. Eric came back with the photographs that were used in 2010 for The Promise: The Darkness On The Edge Of Town Story. Thirty days later, Bruce came to the Record Plant with the words and music he had been working on since he left Nevada, for a song called "The Promised Land". The band did 3 takes on September 30, then came back on October 27, 1977 with a bunch of new lyrics, worked on it all day (20 takes), and finished the song. After mixing, Bruce would change his mind at the last minute, ordering that Steve Van Zandt's guitar solo (comes right before the sax solo), which had been removed from the final mix, be put back in, after the record has already been sent to be mastered. As a result, side 2 had to be remastered. but the record was still released on June 2, 1978.

Baby Rose - "Live @ NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert" [R'n'B, Soul, Funk, Live In Concert]

Live @ NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert

"Live @ NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert" music video by Baby Rose
Added: 17-02-2020

Description : Baby Rose: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert

Feb. 10, 2020 | Rodney Carmichael -- "This is what real love sounds like."

From any other new artist, a Tiny Desk declaration like that might sound a tad bit presumptuous if not altogether premature. But when the voice behind those words is as seasoned and vintage as Baby Rose's, everything it utters reverberates like the gospel truth. The D.C. native — who came of age in Fayetteville, N.C. before coming into her own as an artist in Atlanta — returned to her birthplace, backed by a big band including strings, to perform songs from her 2019 LP To Myself.

Studio debuts as stunning as To Myself don't come out every day, year or decade, for that matter. But to truly appreciate what Rose achieves on last year's release, you have to see her perform those songs live. In an era when the over-reliance on Autotune has nearly everybody in radio R&B land sounding like automatons, her unadulterated voice is almost otherworldly. It's confounding how a vocal tone so weathered and wise emerges from her so effortlessly. At 25, she mixes the bluesy melisma of Nina Simone and the deep register of Sarah Vaughan — two of her influences — with songwriting as devastating as her delivery.

"I would not be able to write with such emotion about these things without my fair share of regrets," she says, introducing her song "Ragrets." That kind of life experience seeps through in a performance plush with warmth and empathy. Dedicating the last song to herself — and "to anyone here that's ever wanted to call or text somebody that you know you should not call or text" — Rose introduced "All To Myself" by congratulating those of us who've refrained from squandering our emotions on the undeserved.

Funny enough, the last voice heard in Baby Rose's Tiny Desk belongs not to her but to her father, who arrived midway through her set before squeezing his way up to the front. "That's my daughter!" he shouts over the applause as Rose laughs and claps for him. The love was well-deserved.
