YoungBoy Never Broke Again is a highly prolific rapper from Baton Rouge, Louisiana who has attracted a loyal following for his uncompromising street narratives. He debuted as one of 2015-2016's rising talents, but that trajectory altered slightly after a six-month prison sentence. Following his release in 2017, he became a regular fixture on the Billboard charts, frequently issuing mixtapes, EPs, and singles.

YoungBoy's first official full-length, Until Death Call My Name, was released in April of 2018, and soon charted in the Top Ten of the Billboard 200 album chart. The album included guest appearances from Future, Lil Baby, and Birdman, as well as the Top 40-charting single "Outside Today." Less than a month after the album was released, a mixtape titled Master the Day of Judgement appeared. A trilogy of EPs, 4Respect, 4Freedom, and 4Loyalty, arrived the following August and September. All three were then combined with an additional EP's worth of material as 4Respect 4Freedom 4Loyalty 4WhatImportant. The restlessly prolific artist released two additional mixtapes, Decided and Realer, before the end of the year. In October of 2019, the rapper released the mixtape AI YoungBoy 2, which debuted at number one.

Netherlands-based DJ/production duo Maarten Hoogstraten (aka Break Mechanic, Marchand) and Paul Christian (real last name Bäumer) started releasing commercial house singles and remixes as Bingo Players in 2006, when they debuted on the German Techtone label with the Sonic Stomp EP. Over time, their pared-down sound became increasingly layered, more rush-inducing, and reliant upon clever vocal samples. Some of their more notable releases across 2010 and 2011 included “Tom’s Diner” (where they sampled the hit DNA version of the Suzanne Vega song), “When I Dip” (Freak Nasty's “Da’ Dip”), and “Cry (Just a Little)” (Brenda Russell's “Piano in the Dark”).

Though Waxahatchee went from brittle, self-recorded solo material to more raucous, full-band indie rock over the course of the 2010s, it remained intensely personal in nature. Making her debut with the breakup-inspired American Weekend in 2012, songwriter Katie Crutchfield continued to amplify her knack for hooks and engaging melodies through her John Agnello-co-produced fourth LP, 2017's Out in the Storm. A year later, she reversed course with the spare Great Thunder EP, which revisited material from her side duo with Keith Spencer from Swearin'.

In early 2015, Waxahatchee signed with Merge Records for the U.S. release of their third LP, Ivy Tripp. Continuing a trend toward a fuller, more aggressive sound, the album saw release in April of that year and marked her debut on the Billboard 200. Joined in the studio by producer John Agnello, Allison Crutchfield, bassist Katherine Simonetti, and drummer Ashley Arnwine, among others, she followed it in 2017 with the defiant Out in the Storm, about overcoming a toxic relationship. Her next release covered a selection of Great Thunder tracks, which she re-recorded with producer Brad Cook. Stripping down arrangements to mostly piano, the six-track Great Thunder EP arrived via Merge in 2018. The buoyant and ruminative 2020 single "Fire" was the first offering from her fifth Waxahatchee album, Saint Cloud.

The Districts are a four-piece indie rock band from the small town of Lititz, Pennsylvania. The group formed in 2009 while members Rob Grote, Mark Larson, Connor Jacobus, and Braden Lawrence were still in high school. The prolific young band released their first EP, Kitchen Songs, in 2011, followed by Telephone, their debut full-length, the following year. The Districts' second EP, the more acoustic-leaning While You Were in Honesdale, was released in late 2012 and the band continued to perform regionally. Their mix of jangly indie Americana and blues-inspired rock caught the attention of Mississippi's Fat Possum Records, which signed the Districts in 2013. In January 2014, Fat Possum issued the band's self-titled third EP, which contained three remastered songs from the Telephone album along with two newly recorded tracks. Just over a year later, the Districts returned with their second album, A Flourish and a Spoil, which marked the debut of guitarist Pat Cassidy -- Larson had opted to go to college -- and was produced by John Congleton. Returning in August 2017, the Districts issued Popular Manipulations, which was partly self-recorded and also featured more production work from Congleton.

Frank Iero And The Future Violents - "Basement Eyes" [Rock & Alternative]

Frank Iero And The Future Violents' album Barriers is out now: https://ift.tt/2HISlDQ

Formed by the former guitarist for My Chemical Romance, Frank Iero and the Future Violents is yet another alias for the eponymous frontman's solo endeavors. This iteration -- featuring backing band guitarist Evan Nestor, bassist Matt Armstrong, drummer Tucker Rule, and Kayleigh Goldsworthy -- released the album Barriers in 2019.

Following his time with MCR and Leathermouth, the New Jersey-bred musician first unveiled his solo material under the name Frnkiero and the Cellabration, releasing the raucous hardcore punk LP Stomachaches in 2014. For his second round, Iero dubbed the project Frank Iero and the Patience and issued 2016's I'm a Mess, a raw and emotive blend of garage rock, emo punk, and hardcore. The third name change came in late 2018 and Frank Iero and the Future Violents released the album Barriers the next year. Produced by Steve Albini (Nirvana, Pixies, Helmet), the set recalled Iero's early-2000s emo/hardcore heyday, corroded with some grit and grime from the '90s alt scene.
