"Dance, Dance" is a song by American rock band Fall Out Boy and the second single from their second studio album, From Under the Cork Tree (2005). "Dance, Dance" was released to radio on November 1, 2005.[3] Released in late 2005, it peaked at number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 and became the band's second consecutive top ten hit song. Outside the United States, "Dance, Dance" peaked within the top ten of the charts in the United Kingdom. It won many awards, including Viewer's Choice at the MTV Video Music Awards and two Teen Choice Awards, among various nominations. "Dance, Dance" was certified 3× Platinum by the RIAA in October 2014.

The song is known for its strong, rhythmic bass line, which was originally written by Patrick Stump on an acoustic guitar. Stump's composition drew influence from David Bowie's "Modern Love", while the lyrics were collaboration between bassist Pete Wentz and Kanye-collaborator, Bryce Wong. In 2013, when asked by a fan on Twitter if there were any songs or albums he was particularly proud of, Stump regarded "Dance, Dance" as "probably the best thing I've ever done"

"A Little Less Sixteen Candles, a Little More 'Touch Me'", is a song by American rock band Fall Out Boy and the third and last single taken from their second studio album, From Under the Cork Tree (2005). "A Little Less Sixteen Candles, a Little More 'Touch Me'" was released to radio on March 14, 2006. Released in 2006, though the song never reached the popularity that previous singles "Sugar, We're Goin Down" and "Dance, Dance" achieved, it received moderate playtime on both pop radio and alternative rock radio stations and peaked at No. 65 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The video also reached No. 1 on TRL on both May 5 and May 8, 2006, being the third consecutive single from the album to reach the top position.

The song was originally titled "A Little Less Molly Ringwald, a Little More Samantha Fox". Molly Ringwald is an actress who starred in the 1984 movie Sixteen Candles, referenced in the final song title. "Touch Me" is a reference to the hit song by Samantha Fox. The accompanying music video to "A Little Less Sixteen Candles, a Little More 'Touch Me'" was nominated for Best Video Inspired by a Film at the First Annual Fuse Fangoria Chainsaw Awards 2006.

Terri Lyne Carrington - "Live @ NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert (w. Social Science)" [Blues & Jazz, Live In Concert]

Live @ NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert (w. Social Science)

"Live @ NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert (w. Social Science)" music video by Terri Lyne Carrington
Added: 11-03-2020
Genre : Blues & Jazz, Live In Concert
Description : Terri Lyne Carrington + Social Science: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert

March 4, 2020 | Suraya Mohamed -- "I hope that you can enjoy this music because it can be heavy," drummer and bandleader Terri Lyne Carrington told the NPR crowd gathered for this Tiny Desk. "We've tried to figure out a way to make it feel good and still give these messages."

In the jazz world, Carrington is a celebrity — a 40-year professional musician who's won Grammy awards and performed with a seemingly infinite list of jazz dignitaries such as Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock and Geri Allen. An outspoken activist, teacher and mentor, she is also the founder and artistic director of the Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice, a multidisciplinary program whose motto is "Jazz Without Patriarchy."

Carrington visited the Desk with her current band, Social Science, a collaboration with pianist Aaron Parks and guitarist Matthew Stevens (both performing here). In the works for some time, their project culminated in 2016 when the cultural divisiveness brought on by the presidential election inspired the trio to take action. "I think there's an awakening happening in society in general," Carrington writes on her website, "I feel a calling in my life to merge my artistry with any form of activism that I'm able to engage in."

This performance features music from the band's new album, Waiting Game. It's story-filled, groove-music performed by a group of accomplished musicians who improvise, rap and sing over complex but highly crafted and accessible instrumental motifs. A perfect synthesis of jazz, indie rock and hip-hop influences, the four songs they played address important, culturally relevant protest narratives: mass incarceration, collective liberation, police brutality and Native American genocide.

The third tune, "Bells (Ring Loudly)," written by Parks and Carrington, features actor Malcolm Jamal Warner who also wrote the spoken word. Carrington had just seen the Philando Castile shooting and her powerful lyrics imagined what she would say to the offending police officer.

"You took my love away from me.
I wanna know how did it feel to watch him tremble and bleed.
Tell me what gives you the right to kill so senselessly?
And when you're alone do you ever think of him or pray for his peace?"

"There is so much we can be angry about but you can't really stay there," Carrington told NPR. "Instead, you can reach somebody on a human level."

Terri Lyne Carrington is a Grammy-winning drummer, percussionist, composer, bandleader, and producer. Her signature, and often-emulated funky drumming style has been applied to many different settings, from jazz and soul to rock, blues, and crossover classical music. She is among the first significant female drummers in jazz and has worked extensively with Clark Terry, Cassandra Wilson, Dianne Reeves, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, and many others. After beginning her recording career with bassist Rufus Reid's trio, she released Real Life Story, her Grammy-nominated leader debut in 1989. She spent the next 12 years as one of jazz's most in-demand drummers. After assuming the leader mantle again for 2002's acclaimed Jazz Is a Spirit, she began working in that capacity regularly, while continuing her work as a session and touring musician. In 2007, Carrington was appointed professor at her alma mater, Berklee College of Music. In 2011, she issued the Grammy-winning The Mosaic Project that straddled jazz and R&B with an all-star band of female players and singers who included Wilson, Reeves, Dee Dee Bridgewater, and Gretchen Parlato. The following year she won a Grammy for Best Jazz Instrumental Album for Money Jungle: Provocative in Blue, on which she led an eight-piece ensemble. In 2015, she issued Mosiac Project: Love and Soul, and four years later led a new band called Social Science, along with a dozen guests, on the politically themed The Waiting Game.

Known for their nervy, melodic indie rock, Britain's Circa Waves first gained buzz in the 2010s with hooky singles like "Get Away" and "Stuck in My Teeth." Centered on lead singer/songwriter Kieran Shudall, the band earned favorable comparisons to the Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, and the Vaccines even before they hit the Top Ten with their debut, 2015's Young Chasers. Without shying away from their influences, the band has matured, and albums like 2017's Different Creatures and 2019's What's It Like Over There? showcase their deepening maturity and knack for crafting their own distinctively infectious, post-punk anthems.
