Though Waxahatchee went from brittle, self-recorded solo material to more raucous, full-band indie rock over the course of the 2010s, it remained intensely personal in nature. Making her debut with the breakup-inspired American Weekend in 2012, songwriter Katie Crutchfield continued to amplify her knack for hooks and engaging melodies through her John Agnello-co-produced fourth LP, 2017's Out in the Storm. A year later, she reversed course with the spare Great Thunder EP, which revisited material from her side duo with Keith Spencer from Swearin'.

In early 2015, Waxahatchee signed with Merge Records for the U.S. release of their third LP, Ivy Tripp. Continuing a trend toward a fuller, more aggressive sound, the album saw release in April of that year and marked her debut on the Billboard 200. Joined in the studio by producer John Agnello, Allison Crutchfield, bassist Katherine Simonetti, and drummer Ashley Arnwine, among others, she followed it in 2017 with the defiant Out in the Storm, about overcoming a toxic relationship. Her next release covered a selection of Great Thunder tracks, which she re-recorded with producer Brad Cook. Stripping down arrangements to mostly piano, the six-track Great Thunder EP arrived via Merge in 2018. The buoyant and ruminative 2020 single "Fire" was the first offering from her fifth Waxahatchee album, Saint Cloud.

Genre : R'n'B, Soul, Funk
Description : Floaters - Float On • TopPop

The Floaters was an American soul-singing group from Detroit. The group was founded in 1976. Their first single Float On, produced by Woody Wilson, was also the only hit of the group at ABC Records and placed in the top position of the British charts. and 2nd place in the American Billboard Hot 100.

First broadcast on 30 August 1977

-

"Float On" is a 1977 hit song by the R&B/soul group The Floaters. The spoken verses combine two popular trends from the time, star signs and video and phone dating, in lines such as Aquarius and my name is Ralph / Now I like a woman who loves her freedom. The song was co-written by James Mitchell of The Detroit Emeralds group.

Released from their self-titled debut album, it became one of the biggest singles of the year, spending six weeks at number one on the U.S. Hot Soul Singles chart. "Float On" was also a crossover hit, peaking at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 behind Andy Gibb's "I Just Want to Be Your Everything" and The Emotions' "Best of My Love", but with no other Hot 100 hits, The Floaters became a one-hit wonder on that chart. "Float On" also reached number one on the UK Singles Chart, and number five on the Irish Singles Chart. The song was covered by two hip-hop bands: Stetsasonic on its album In Full Gear (1988), and Dream Warriors on its album The Master Plan (1996), the latter of which was released as a single.

Also in 1977, Cheech and Chong released a parody of the song called "Bloat On". It was later included on their 1980 album Let's Make a New Dope Deal.

The song was adapted in the early 1990s to advertise Cadbury's Crème Eggs.

The Black Dahlia Murder - "Child Of Night" [Metal & X-Core]

"Child of Night" from the "Verminous" album.

When it came to title the record, Strnad looked around at the scene he has helped nourish for two decades and found his inspiration. "We, members of our beloved and hidden world of the heavy metal underground teeming just below the surface, are the verminous. The rats and roaches looming in the cracks and crevices of this fallen world. We are the pariahs that the world of normality finds loathsome and obscene. We are the carriers of a plague of knowledge so vile that it could bring the unsuspecting mankind to its knees. Always the underdogs. Our love for this music and what it means to our lives is foolishly underestimated." This ties into the lyrical themes that permeate the record, though not exclusively, Strnad not struggling to find subject matter that engaged him. "The outside world of religion-warped 'normalcy' is the opposing viewpoint. We are the ultimate antagonist to their archaic ways of thought, the dreamers of the nightmares that shake them to their very core. Although we are but lowly vermin to them, the unseen and underestimated, our numbers are millions strong. We cast aside their ways and prefer to take solace in the hidden realm of the underground where the dark fruits of free thought can be enjoyed. We are our own Gods. The responsibility of our actions is ours alone." In his position, he is also able to both provide listeners with opportunities to exorcise compulsions toward exploring dark themes and find some personal release. "Not unlike the appeal of a horror movie, there is a curiously dark side in all of us that can enjoy the occasional gaze through the eyes of the all-powerful masked killer. I enjoy taking the listener on such a ride. There is a certain catharsis in putting myself into the heart of each character I create. Where I lack power in my life, I channel it in my creations."

Detroit's the Black Dahlia Murder, named for the infamous 1947 slaying of 22-year-old Elizabeth Short, aka the Black Dahlia, actually sounds like they should live in Scandinavia, where much of the frenetic brand of death and black metal that inspires them originated.

UnhallowedFormed in January 2001, the Black Dahlia Murder followed their six-song What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse demo with the four-track A Cold-Blooded Epitaph EP, which was released on their own Lovelost Records. Having already made a number of acclaimed concert appearances (e.g., the Milwaukee Metal Fest), the group -- comprising vocalist Trevor Strnad, guitarists Brian Eschbach and Jon Kemppainen, bassist David Lock, and drummer Cory Grady -- signed with Metal Blade in 2003 and were soon recording their debut album, Unhallowed.

"Breathe" (sometimes called "Breathe (In the Air)") is a song by progressive rock band Pink Floyd on their 1973 album The Dark Side of the Moon.

The authorship and composition of this song is credited to David Gilmour, Richard Wright and Roger Waters for the music, and Waters for the lyrics. Dark Side, admitted the latter, "is a little adolescent and naïve in its preoccupations, but I'm not belittling it. It's like a rather wonderful, naïve painting. 'Breathe in the air / Don't be afraid to care' – that's the opening couplet. Well, yeah, I can cop that, but it's kind of simplistic stuff."

The song is slow-paced and rich in texture, and features Gilmour playing the electric guitar with a Uni-Vibe and lap steel guitar with a volume pedal and several overdubs. On the original album, it is a separate track from "Speak to Me", the sound collage that opens the first side. Since this track segues into "Breathe" via a sustained backwards piano chord, the two are conjoined on most CD versions of the album. A one-minute reprise features at the end of the song "Time", without the slide guitar and using Farfisa organ and Wurlitzer electric piano in place of Hammond organ and Rhodes piano.

Along with the other Pink Floyd tracks, "Time" and "The Great Gig in the Sky", "Breathe" is seen as Gilmour "carving out a more distinctive style" with the introduction of blues-based chords and solos. "Breathe" has also been seen to "embrace ecology".

This song was one of several to be considered for the band's "best of" album, Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd.

Charismatic, confident Atlanta-bred rapper Lil Baby quickly rose to fame after he launched his career in 2017. Following a series of mixtapes, his popularity exploded with the release of the 2018 full-length Harder Than Ever, which included the Drake-featuring hit "Yes Indeed." That same year, Drip Harder, a collaborative mixtape with Gunna, pushed Lil Baby's fame even further.

As his mixtape attracted more listeners, Lil Baby worked constantly on new music, releasing singles like "My Dawg" and the Young Thug collaboration "Pink Slip" in the summer of 2017. Other 2017 releases included Harder Than Hard, 2 the Hard Way (with Marlo), and Too Hard. Lil Baby's debut studio album, Harder Than Ever, appeared in May of 2018. Featuring guest appearances from Drake, Offset, Lil Uzi Vert, and others, the release entered the Billboard 200 album chart at number three. The rapper's success continued with Drip Harder, a collaborative mixtape with Gunna that was released that October and reached number four on the Billboard 200. Yet another mixtape, Street Gossip, appeared in November of 2018. 2019 saw Lil Baby starring in the film How High 2 and releasing a handful of singles including the Future collaboration "Out the Mud." His second studio album, My Turn, was slated for a February 2020 release, and was preceded by the release of singles "Woah" in late 2019 and "Sum 2 Prove" in January of 2020.

Coming on with a staccato delivery like 2 Chainz, but with material that is much more hardcore, Detroit MC IceWear Vezzo was a member of the Green Guyz crew who went solo in 2012. Born Chivez Smith in Detroit, some of Vezzo's close relatives and siblings lived in Minnesota where they formed the hip-hop group the Green Guyz. Vezzo ran his own Detroit-based version of the Green Guyz with the blessing of the original crew, but after a few regional hits, the MC decided to go it alone. In 2012 he dropped his debut mixtape The Clarity, while 2013 saw him release Clarity 2: Can't Stop the Count, featuring the breakout single "Money Phone." The track also appeared on his 2013 album The City Is Mine, and The Clarity 3 landed in 2014 and featured Vezzo's fellow Green Guyz cohort Webbo among its guests. He also issued the Solitaires album that year on his birthday, which happened to be Halloween, while the release of The Clarity 4 kicked off 2015, a year that saw him hit with the single "Moon Walken." The album Moon Walken followed in 2016. 2017 saw the release of the Price Goin' Up mixtape, which featured collaborations with Philthy Rich, Mozzy, BandGang Lonie Bands, Rocaine, and more.

-

MC and DJ Paul Wall (born Paul Slayton) grew up as a hardcore disciple of fellow Houstonian DJ Screw and became so familiar with the pioneering DJ's woozy, slowed-down style of remixing that he had to adjust to hearing hip-hop at any other tempo. Prior to making a nationwide breakout in 2005 with a guest spot on Mike Jones' "Still Tippin'" and his Swishahouse/Atlantic Records debut, The Peoples Champ, Wall was involved with promotional street teams, DJ'ed parties, put together underground mixtapes, and was half of the Color Changin' Click with Chamillionaire. He recorded 2002's Get Ya Mind Correct with his partner, and then followed that with 2004's solo Chick Magnet. Controversy Sells, another disc billed to Wall and Chamillionaire, hit the streets in early 2005, just months before Wall kicked off support for the chart-topping Peoples Champ LP with "Sittin' Sideways." Two years later, Get Money, Stay True was introduced by the single "Break Em' Off" with Lil' Keke.

Changing labels with the rest of the Swishahouse family, his first album for Asylum, Fast Life, followed in 2009. A year later, The Heart of a Champion arrived with blink-182 drummer Travis Barker handling production on half the tracks. In early 2012, he dropped the mixtape No Sleep Til Houston, which was picked up for an official release by the Fontana label late that same year. Affiliated throughout the years with Paid in Full and Swishahouse, Wall has also held down a lucrative business as a maker of diamond-laced grillz. His clientele includes Lil Jon and T.I. His 2014 LP The Po-Up Poet was a collaboration with producer June "The Jenius" James, while 2015 saw the release of Slab God, an album that featured Snoop Dogg, Devin the Dude, and Curren$y as guests. A year later, Wall returned with his ninth LP, The Houston Oiler, which included appearances from fellow H-Town icons like Z-Ro, Chamillionaire, and Slim Thug. His tenth full-length outing, Bounce Backs Over Setbacks, arrived in 2018, and featured appearances by Z-Ro, Lil Keke, Stunna Bam, and Cal Wayne, among others.

Australian DJ and instrumentalist Timmy Trumpet makes dynamic, progressive house music that he often accents with his trumpet playing. Born Timothy Jude Smith in Sydney in 1982, Smith began playing trumpet at age four and initially attended the Sydney Conservatorium of Music where he received classical instruction. After being thrown out for a prank, however, he transferred to a public high school where he became increasingly involved with jazz. Although Smith's trumpet ability predicted a performance career, it was dance music and not jazz that ultimately grabbed his interest. Around 2001, billing himself as Timmy Trumpet, he began combining his skills as a DJ and trumpeter, a sound that caught audiences' attention in such EDM hot spots as Ibiza and London. Trumpet has produced tracks for such labels as PACHA, Ministry of Sound, and One Love, and has performed with such similarly inclined electronic acts as the Stafford Brothers, Swedish House Mafia, Armin Van Buuren, and others. He has had several Top Ten singles on the Aria Club Chart, including his 2011 collaboration with DJ Tenzin, "Horny," which reached number five. In 2014, his single "Freaks," featuring rapper Savage, hit number one in New Zealand, and eventually reached quadruple-platinum status the following year. Also in 2015, Trumpet released the single "Toca" featuring Carnage and KHSMR.

Down to Earth is the debut album by Monie Love, which was released on November 6, 1990, on Warner Bros. Records. It peaked at 109 on the Billboard 200 and at 26 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, and spawned three charting singles. "It's a Shame (My Sister)" became Monie's only top-40 hit in the U.S., and peaked at 26 on the Billboard Hot 100, while "Monie in the Middle" and "Down 2 Earth" were both successful on the R&B and hip hop charts.

In a contemporary review for The Village Voice, music critic Robert Christgau gave Down to Earth an "A–" and was impressed by Love's proud sensibilities, as she "radiates sisterhood even though she concentrates on the guys, and positivity and tradition" without much culturally or politically conscious lyrics. Alex Henderson was less enthusiastic in a retrospective review for AllMusic, in which he gave the album three-and-a-half out of five stars and wrote that Love raps well, but lacks worthwhile stories on an otherwise good album.

At the 33rd Grammy Awards, "Monie in the Middle" was nominated for Best Rap Solo Performance, but lost to MC Hammer's "U Can't Touch This." The following year at the 34th Grammy Awards, she was nominated for Best Rap Solo Performance again for "It's a Shame (My Sister)" but lost to LL Cool J's "Mama Said Knock You Out."

Description : Damage Case | Motörhead live | Rockpalast 2014

Besetzung:
Lemmy Kilmister - bass, vocals
Philip Campbell - guitar
Mikkey Dee - drums

Dezember 2015 in Los Angeles.

German electro-house producer Tujamo (aka Matthias Richter) is a globally celebrated, charting musician whose unique take on dance music, "the Eastern Sound," is often considered by critics to be a genre of its own. His singles have charted globally, and his downtempo anthems have driven dancefloors from China to Russia and New York to L.A.

Richter developed a passion for music in his teens and began DJing at age 17. Just a year later, in 2006, he won a talent competition at one of Germany's most famous nightclubs, Club Index in Schüttorf, where he went on to become a resident DJ. That same year, he began producing tracks under the Tujamo alias, releasing his debut single, "Mombasa," in 2011. His first dance chart hit came the following year with "Who," produced in conjunction with fellow Germans Plastik Funk. The tune was played out by big names like Avicii and became a huge hit at Miami house music mecca the Winter Music Conference. In 2013, Tujamo had his first mainstream hit with "Boneless," a collaboration with Steve Aoki and Chris Lake, which went to number 49 on the German singles chart. In 2014, his biggest hit yet came when the reworked "Who," retitled "Dr. Who" and featuring British rapper Sneakbo, hit number 21 on the U.K. singles chart.

Also making a name for himself as a remixer for the likes of Bob Sinclar, Peter Gelderblom, and Wynter Gordon, Tujamo played all over Germany and internationally, including a tour of South America. In 2018, his single "With U" (featuring Karen Harding) was chosen as the official Untold Festival anthem for the year's event. He followed with "Get Up," "Getting Money," and "Hell Yeah" in 2019.

Description : Sondre Lerche: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concerts From The Archives

Stephen Thompson | November 2, 2009

When the makers of the 2007 romantic comedy Dan in Real Life wanted to convey an air of goodhearted whimsy, they turned soundtrack-writing duties over to Norwegian-born singer-songwriter Sondre Lerche. And why wouldn't they? For all his jazz-informed skills on the guitar, Lerche's greatest weapon is his flair for lightness and likeability.

Known as a varsity-level banterer on stage, Lerche puts all those skills to good use in this charming Tiny Desk Concert in the NPR Music offices. Performing three songs from his new album Heartbeat Radio — and introducing the title track with the disclaimer, "It's taking some issue with radio, but it's not about you guys" — he conveys all the lilting sweetness his fans have come to expect.

By the time Sondre Lerche had released his major-label debut (2002's critically acclaimed Faces Down), the 19-year-old Norwegian was already a veteran of the music industry. Signed to Virgin Norway in 2000, Lerche released the chart-topping EP You Know So Well in February 2001. A commercially successful follow-up EP, No One's Gonna Come, was released in June of the same year, accompanied by numerous local performances and increasing industry buzz. Lerche's distinctive voice and natural talent for writing appealing pop tunes that were alternately sunny and melancholic quickly established him as a definite contender for significance throughout Europe and beyond.

Lerche's career had always been a series of surprising artistic shifts, but the biggest one came with the release of the first single for his next album, Pleasure. Forgoing the sophisticated guitar pop of the previous couple records, "I'm Always Watching You" was a very '80s-influenced, synth-heavy club track that had plenty of New Edition's classic "Cool It Down" in its DNA. The album proved to be just as guitar-free and synthesized as the single, and also just as shiny and fun. It was released in March of 2017 by the PLZ label.

The band were named Best British Newcomer at the 1988 Brit Awards.
They are best known for their 1994 cover of The Troggs' 1960s hit "Love Is All Around",

This Toppop recording was first broadcast on 23 March 1988.

"Wishing I Was Lucky" was the debut single by Wet Wet Wet. It was taken from their 1987 album Popped in Souled Out. Recorded for £600 in Edinburgh, it was released on 6 April 1987 and was their first hit, peaking at No. 6 on the UK Singles Chart.

Tommy Cunningham later said: "I was in a queue in a chip shop in Glasgow when it came on Radio Clyde. I felt like shouting to everybody, 'That's me and my mates!' It was an incredible feeling I've not forgotten."

Marti Pellow recorded an acoustic, solo version of the song for inclusion on his 2002 album Marti Pellow Sings the Hits of Wet Wet Wet & Smile.

Motörhead - "Killed By Death (Live @ Rockpalast 2014)" [Metal & X-Core]

Besetzung:
Lemmy Kilmister - bass, vocals
Philip Campbell - guitar
Mikkey Dee - drums

Dezember 2015 in Los Angeles.

"Killed by Death" is a song by the English heavy metal band Motörhead. Released in 1984, in 7" and 12" vinyl pressings. It peaked at number 51 in the UK Singles Chart.

To assist its promotion in the United States, Bronze/Island pressed a 12" promo version for radio play (identical versions on both sides). It is one of the most difficult to find of all Motörhead items. There is also a video made for the track, directed by the manager of the Plasmatics, Rod Swenson, which was banned by MTV for "excessive and senseless violence".

Despite relatively high-profile exposure on TV programmes such as Channel 4's The Tube, the single failed to make any significant impression on the UK Singles Chart. This proved particularly disappointing to Lemmy, who at live shows regularly made joking references about its lack of sales.

Don Diablo (real name Don Pepijn Schipper) is a future house DJ/producer who has scored numerous chart and club hits starting in the early 2000s. He issued his debut, the house- and hip-hop-flavored Life Is a Festival, in 2008, while its follow-up, Forever, would not arrive until 2018. In the decade between releases, he busied himself with high-profile collaborations and sold-out live sets.

Born in Coevorden, Netherlands, the producer got his start in music at the early age of 15, when he signed his first record deal. However, it wasn't until his later years that his productions began to turn heads both within the industry and among electronic dance music lovers the world over. Tracks such as "On My Mind," "Cutting Shapes," and "AnyTime" became instant hits, and the producer soon found that he was in high demand to remix tracks from a vast array of high-profile songwriters and artists spanning a variety of genres. Diablo received frequent requests to bring his eclectic dance and house flavors to numerous chart hits, from the likes of Madonna and Rihanna to Bastille and Ed Sheeran.

The confrontational Sauce Walka is a Houston-based rapper with an exuberant, sporadic delivery similar to Young Thug. Among his releases are the Sorry 4 the Sauce mixtape series (2015-2017) and highly animated tracks such as "Sauce Overload" (2018).

Born Albert Walker Mondane, the rapper makes up one half of Sauce Twinz, along with Sancho Saucy. He began releasing tracks and mixtapes in 2014, as well as appearing on releases by Slim Thug and DJ Holiday. Sauce Walka gained notoriety in 2015 when he accused Drake of using Houston's hip-hop culture, stealing its dance moves, and not supporting the local hip-hop scene; during the year also released the first two volumes of the mixtape series Sorry 4 the Sauce. The cover of his 2016 mixtape Holy Sauce targeted Drake, as well as other rappers such as Famous Dex and Future. Across the next couple years, Sauce Walka's rate of output remained consistent with Sorry 4 the Sauce 3, additional tapes including Drip God and Sauce Ghetto Gospel, and loose tracks highlighted by "Sauce Overload."
