-

German rapper Dendemann was acclaimed for his idiosyncratic flow and wry, slice-of-life rhymes. Born Daniel Ebel in Menden -- aliases also included Daniel LaRusso, Olaf Mitender, and Volker Racho -- he first surfaced in collaboration with fellow rapper Majubiese and producer Carsten "Boogie" Schulz in the group Arme Ritter, which issued the Sony Music label hit "Disco '95 (Singt und Schwingt das Bein)." From there Dendemann teamed with DJ Rabauke as Eins Zwo, in addition to guesting on numerous hip-hop releases. When Eins Zwo split in 2003, he issued his first solo EP, Das Schweigen Dilemma. Dendemann did not release a proper full-length until 2006's Die Pfütze des Eisbergs. A new single, "Endlich Nichtschwimmer," followed in early 2007.

Drawing on the folk influences of Neil Young and the post-rock instrumental sounds of Godspeed You Black Emperor! and Low, Lanterns on the Lake combine the brooding vocals of songwriter Hazel Wilde with textured instrumentation. The band's first full-length release, Gracious Tide, Take Me Home, arrived in 2011. While maintaining a distinctively dreamy, delicate sound over the course of the decade, their lusher third album, Beings, saw release in 2015. Rising socio-political tensions were reflected on Spook the Herd, issued in 2020.

A dreamy folk-pop band from Pennsylvania who found niche success in the alt-rock community of the early '90s, the Innocence Mission's wistful sound is led by the husband-and-wife duo of Don and Karen Peris. Along with bassist Mike Bitts and drummer Steve Brown, they released a trio of well-regarded albums for A&M, the most visible of which was 1995's Glow, which yielded the folky sleeper hit "Bright as Yellow," a staple of modern rock radio and the Empire Records soundtrack. After slimming down to an acoustic trio with the departure of Brown, the band ushered in a successful second phase as a chamber folk act beginning with 1999's critically acclaimed Birds of My Neighborhood and continued into the 2010s with late-period highlights like 2007's We Walked in Song and 2018's Sun on the Square. The Innocence Mission continued working into the next decade with the glowing full-length See You Tomorrow.

As an early pillar of Atlanta's groundbreaking trap scene, Rich the Kid moved from collaborations with Migos, Young Thug, and others to starting his own label just a few years later. With a style very much in line with the dark, highly pressurized flows of other icons of Atlanta hip-hop, he established himself with a string of mixtapes and singles that has led to a deal with major-label Interscope Records, the multi-platinum hit "New Freezer" (2017), and the Top Five albums The World Is Yours (2018) and The World Is Yours 2 (2019).

Armed with an assortment of analog synthesizers and digital sequencers, electro trio Wrangler are named due to their stated goal of wrangling new music from vintage gear. The group is a collaboration between Ben Edwards (Benge), Phill Winter (Tunng), and Stephen Mallinder (Cabaret Voltaire), and their music is a loose, improvisational blend of synth pop, techno, machine funk, and EBM. On albums such as 2020's A Situation, the trio address the world's problems and the failures of technology while keeping things danceable.

Edwards and Winter first used the name Wrangler for a 2008 split single with Scanner; their track was composed using a 1968 Moog Modular 3C, and it sampled the voice of the late Robert Moog. Wrangler's Mind Your Own Sequence 7" was released by disco_r.dance in 2012. The A-side was a cover of Delta 5's "Mind Your Own Business" featuring Winter's group Lone Taxidermist, while Mallinder sang on the B-side, "Sequence On." With Mallinder a full-fledged member of the group, Wrangler released their debut full-length, LA Spark, on their MemeTune imprint in 2014. The group remixed songs by John Foxx, Gazelle Twin, Solvent, and several others. Their second album, White Glue, arrived in 2016, quickly followed by Sparked (Modular Remix Project). A further EP of remixes, Three Memes, appeared in 2018. The same year, the three members of Wrangler collaborated with John Grant as Creep Show, releasing the full-length debut Mr Dynamite. Bella Union, which released the Creep Show album, signed Wrangler and issued A Situation in 2020.

An intriguing mix of synth pop, indie, and hip-hop influences, Glass Animals are an Oxford, England-based band featuring singer/guitarist Dave Bayley, guitarist/keyboardist Drew MacFarlane, bassist/keyboardist Edmund Irwin-Singer and drummer Joe Seaward. Bayley and Seaward were childhood friends, but didn't start making music together until they finished school. Bayley had been writing and recording songs in his spare time, and ultimately drafted Seaward, MacFarlane and Irwin-Singer to play with him. While they were still at university they released their debut EP, Leaflings, in 2012. Though Bayley had planned to go to medical school after graduation, Glass Animals captured the attention of acclaimed producer Paul Epworth, who signed them to his label Wolf Tone in 2013 and released the Glass Animals EP, which included the single "Black Mambo." In 2014, the band released their debut album, Zaba, which blended electronics with indie guitar music and was co-produced by Bayley and Epworth.

Glass Animals spent much of the next two years touring the world and gathering stories from the people they encountered (which Bayley secretly recorded on his phone). The band used these tales as lyrical inspiration for their second album, which the band recorded in late 2015. How to Be a Human Being, a concept album with each song telling the story of a different character, arrived in August 2016.

Florida-based rapper YNW Melly makes raw, emotive rap songs about his turbulent life experiences. After he began releasing tracks during the mid-2010s, he broke through with his debut mixtape, I Am You, in 2018.

Coming from the often-dangerous streets of Gifford, Florida, the rapper began his career at a young age. Born Jamell Demons in 1999, he began uploading original songs to SoundCloud when he was just 15, cultivating a style that laced together melodically sung vocals with raw raps about violence, crime, sex, money, and the challenging environment the teen was growing up in. Demons was living the life he portrayed in his music, eventually being incarcerated for a stretch in 2017 on weapons charges for a shooting he was involved with at age 16. Once released from jail, he became more active than ever, dropping multiple singles, videos, and other projects, including tracks like "Murder on My Mind," "Catching Feelings," and the Collect Call EP. Collect Call boasted features from many better-known artists, including Lil B and John Wicks. In 2018, Melly was constantly active, dropping singles "Melly the Menace," "Virtual," and "Slang That Iron" one after another before releasing the full-length I Am You. He also made a guest appearance on the late 2018 hit "Just Woke Up" by Supreme Patty. In early 2019, Melly released We All Shine, with Kanye West making a guest appearance on the song "Mixed Personalities." In August of that year, he charted with the non-album single, "223's," which featured 9lokkNine. During this time, the rapper was also facing significant legal issues. In addition to other lesser charges, Melly was charged in February of 2019 with two counts of first degree murder in connection to the October deaths of his friends and collaborators YNW Juvy and YNW Sakchaser. Melly was incarcerated and awaiting trial when his debut studio album Melly Vs. Melvin was released in November of 2019.

Georgia-born singer/songwriter Thomas Rhett, the son of award-winning country crooner Rhett Akins, didn't seriously consider following in his father's footsteps until his senior year in high school. Raised on a steady diet of Merle Haggard, Hank Williams, Led Zeppelin, and the Rolling Stones, Rhett inked a publishing deal with EMI just two years into his college career, and landed a song ("I Ain't Ready to Quit") on fellow country-rocker Jason Aldean's 2010 release My Kind of Party. Like Aldean, Brantley Gilbert, and Justin Moore, Rhett splits the difference between slick contemporary country and rowdy good-time rock & roll, an equation he put to the test on his 2011 debut single, "Something to Do with My Hands." A self-titled EP appeared early in 2013, and later that year his debut full-length, It Goes Like This, arrived. The album reached number six on the Billboard 200 and the Top 30 in Canada on the strength of the Top Ten Country hit singles "It Goes Like This," "Get Me Some of That," and "Make Me Wanna," all of which topped Billboard's Country Airplay chart.

Led by the single "Crash and Burn," which reached number one on Billboard's Country Airplay chart and number two on the Hot Country chart, Rhett's sophomore album, Tangled Up, appeared in September 2015. A second number one smash, "Die a Happy Man," and third single, "T-Shirt," helped turn Tangled Up into a big hit that stayed on the charts into 2016. That year, a deluxe edition of the album appeared, featuring the single "Star of the Show," which went to the Top Ten as well.

In 2017, Rhett returned with his third studio album, Life Changes, which included the single "Craving You," featuring Maren Morris. "Look What God Gave Her" followed in 2019 as the lead-off single to the full-length Center Point Road, which arrived that June. Both of these albums topped the Billboard 200 and Top Country Albums charts, with the latter LP earning a nomination for Best Country Album at the 62nd Grammy Awards.

The Rolling Stones, Now! is the third American studio album by the English rock band the Rolling Stones, released in February 1965 by their initial American distributor, London Records. Although it contains two previously unissued songs and an alternative version, the album mostly consists of songs released earlier in the United Kingdom, plus the group's recent single in the United States, "Heart of Stone" backed with "What a Shame". Mick Jagger and Keith Richards wrote four of the songs on the album (including the US single), with the balance composed by American rhythm and blues and rock and roll artists.

Rex Orange County - "Live @ NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert" [Pop, Live In Concert]

Live @ NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert

"Live @ NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert" music video by Rex Orange County
Added: 25-03-2020

Description : Rex Orange County: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert

March 18, 2020 | Bobby Carter -- Rex Orange County, the low-key British pop star born Alex O'Connor, frames his emotions and struggles in a way that appears simple and linear at first. It's only after a few listens that you realize that most of us are incapable of the courage he demonstrates behind the microphone. The crowd of millennial and Gen Z staffers that gathered early for Rex's soundcheck at the Tiny Desk certainly appreciated that fact. There was a palpable connection between the 21-year-old singer and his fans that I don't see often at this stage in a musician's career. My guess is that they see themselves in him: introverted and shy, with the audacity to write and sing about his innermost thoughts.

The first time I saw Rex Orange County perform live was at the very small U Street Music Hall in Washington, D.C., in 2018 while he was supporting his second album, 2017s Apricot Princess. Luckily, I was familiar with the music; otherwise, I wouldn't have made out a word of what he was saying over the onslaught of screams by 500 fans. Astonishingly, less than two years later, he was playing the 6,000-seat Anthem, where the screams were no match for that soundsystem. We're in an age where young people are uninhibited and unafraid to address emotions, simple or complex. In that sense, his latest LP, Pony, is timely. He spoke with NPR and shared that he was incredibly unhealthy mentally throughout the making of the album. But there's an arch to Pony and by the time we get to the final song, "It's Not The Same Anymore," he seems at peace with his new reality.

The entire band was eager, yet nervous during that soundcheck ... that is, until they felt the reaction of the onlookers. They quickly broke to the green room to steam their fresh white button-down shirts, which they purchased at the train station before they arrived. Rex pinned on a Tiny Desk button and was ready to perform a four-song set that included two highlights from Pony and two personal favorites of mine.

Alex O'Connor, also known as Rex Orange County, is a gifted singer/songwriter known for his literate, quirky brand of bedroom pop that combines jazz, hip-hop, and soul influences. O'Connor was still a teenager when he first gained attention online in 2015 for his self-produced album bcos u will never be free. He built upon his viral buzz with 2017's Apricot Princess, which found him further expanding his sound. The album cracked the Top Ten of Billboard's Independent Albums chart, and paved the way for his even more ambitious, jazz-inflected 2019 effort PONY.

He also takes inspiration from the many Brazilian greats – Caetano Veloso, Arthur Verocai, Ivan Lins, Joyce, Hermeto Pascoal, Marcos Valle and Azymuth (to name a few) – who he has worked with as an engineer, assistant and producer, in Rio’s former RCA studio, Cia dos Tecnicos.

As well as being heavily influenced by Brazil’s fabled Tropicalia movement, Richaid is the grandson of Brazilian actor, singer and Disney star Aurora Miranda (Carmen Miranda’s younger sister), so tropicalism is in his blood. Describing his sound as ‘Industrial Tropicalism’, Richaid’s music is undoubtedly a product of his environment. Just like Rio, it’s warm, hazy and beautiful. But reflecting the current mood of his homeland, there’s an ominous smog looming amongst its charm. Lamenting the political, economic and ecological crisis he sees engulfing Brazil, Richaid’s obscure, poetic lyrics touch on drugs, drones and darkness, emphasizing the importance of art to bring light in troubled times.

The unconventional time signatures and sunny jazz-folk meets post-punk aesthetic are adorned by Richaid’s studio smarts. Working day to day in Rio’s top studios, he developed a comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of the recording process. But seeking autonomy and total creative independence, Richaid went on an equipment finding mission in the USA. Upon returning, he set to work building his own studio in Rio’s Gavea district and began writing the tracks that would become Travesserio Feliz. Singlehandedly composing, producing and mixing everything himself, Richaid recalls the endless nights he spent working on the album, often sleeping on the studio floor.

Travisseiro Feliz features a host of notable names from across Rio’s music spectrum, including percussion sensation Marcos Suzano (Gilberto Gil), experimental pop artist Ana Frango Eletrico, and vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Jose Ibarra, who has been lauded for his recent performances as part of Milton Nascimento’s touring group. On interlude track ‘Formigas’ we also hear a few verses of Ricardo singing together with his 7-year-old daughter, Nina Richaid.

Living with his grandmother Aurora Miranda until the age of seventeen (who featured in Walt Disney’s Three Caballeros film, and happens to be the first human being to kiss Donald Duck… really!), young Ricardo would listen with intrigue to his father playing chromatic scales and bossa nova melodies on the saxophone; his mother’s Brazilian classical piano; or his punk rock brother slamming the drums. This eclectic musical upbringing led a teenage Ricardo to learning his trade as the bassist in a short-lived hard rock band, which disbanded when Ricardo began to dig deeper discovering the likes of Os Mutantes, King Crimson, Frank Zappa and especially the ‘Clube De Esquina’ sound pioneered by Milton Nascimento and Lo Borges. Since then, alongside engineering some of his musical heroes in Brazil, Richaid has played in bands like Mara Rúbia and nitú, from Rio’s underground experimental psych and jazz scenes.

The Symphony No. 87 in A major, Hoboken I/87, is the last of the six Paris Symphonies (numbers 82–87) written by Franz Joseph Haydn. It was written in 1786, but performed in 1787 by the Concert de la Loge Olympique, after having been commissioned for performance there by Count Count d'Ogney in 1785.

The Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 77, was composed by Johannes Brahms in 1878 and dedicated to his friend, the violinist Joseph Joachim. It is Brahms's only violin concerto, and, according to Joachim, one of the four great German violin concerti:

The Germans have four violin concertos. The greatest, most uncompromising is Beethoven's. The one by Brahms vies with it in seriousness. The richest, the most seductive, was written by Max Bruch. But the most inward, the heart's jewel, is Mendelssohn's.
