Orlando, Florida's Trivium are among the most provocative, restless and influential bands to emerge from the South in the early 21st century's heavy metal explosion. Beginning as a metalcore outfit, they have crisscrossed and combined styles relentlessly for two decades including thrash, prog, technical and melodic death metal as well as alternative and groove metal. Trivium came by its global success the old-fasioned way: Touring. Since issuing their first demo in 2000, they have been road warriors. They establioshed themselves first in the South, and then across the North American continent before conquering festival stages in Europe and Asia supporting their sophomore longplayer (and Roadrunner debut) Ascendancy in 2005. 2008's Shogun showcased epic storytelling abilites as well as a love for innovative riffs. It provided a roadmap for future outings and peaked at number 23 on the Top 200. Those compostional tenets and a love for narrative storytelling influenced each subsequent release, though 2011's In Waves took it further with a no. 11 peak, and 2017's The Sin And The Sentence used them inside a more extreme metal setting and became one of their most acclaimed albums, selling better in Europe than it did in the States.

"In the Air Tonight" is the debut solo single by the English drummer and singer-songwriter Phil Collins. It was released as the lead single from Collins' debut solo album, Face Value, in January 1981.

Collins co-produced the single with Hugh Padgham, who became a frequent collaborator in the following years. The song was an instant hit, quickly climbing to No. 2 on the UK Singles chart but was held off the top spot by the posthumous release of John Lennon's "Woman". It was also an international hit, achieving top 10 status in Australia, New Zealand and several European territories, reaching No. 1 in Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Sweden. It peaked at No. 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, and was later certified Gold by the RIAA, representing 500,000 copies sold. The song's music video, directed by Stuart Orme, received heavy play on MTV when the new cable music video channel launched in August 1981.

"In the Air Tonight" remains one of Collins' best-known hits, often cited as his signature song, and is especially famous for his drum break towards the end, which has been described as "the sleekest, most melodramatic drum break in history" and one of the "101 Greatest Drumming Moments". The song was ranked at number 35 on VH1's "100 Greatest Songs of the 80s" in 2006. In 2007, Mike Gruss, former columnist for The Virginian-Pilot, referred to the song as a "soft rock classic."

Charismatic, confident Atlanta-bred rapper Lil Baby quickly rose to fame after he launched his career in 2017. Following a series of mixtapes, his popularity exploded in 2018, the year he released Harder Than Ever (which included the Drake-featuring hit "Yes Indeed"), Drip Harder (a collaborative mixtape with Gunna), and Harder Than Ever (his first proper album), all of which entered the Top Ten of the Billboard 200. He topped the chart in 2020 with My Turn.

Something for Kate's confessional post-grunge grandeur has made the group a strong favorite with Australian alternate rock fans. The group's music revolves around the words and emotions of singer/guitarist Paul Dempsey. On stage he stands at the microphone, guitar in hand, carefully dreaming out loud his evocative image-ridden lyrics. Even when the band's atmospheric backings build to their powerful climaxes, you can hear every word. Audiences listen or sing along to the hook-laden melodies, playing their own mind-movies as they do so.

Melbourne-based '70s rock-inspired punk four-piece Amyl & the Sniffers emerged in the late 2010s as part of a new wave of punk from Australia's East Coast. Sporting a diverse range of mullets and a lawless attitude, the band channeled the unruly energy of their live shows on EPs such as 2017's Big Attraction, a wild blend that recalled early Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Motörhead, and Courtney Barnett. Their self-titled full-length debut landed in 2019.

The band's origins lie in the bedroom-recording sessions of housemates Amy Taylor (vocals), Bryce Wilson (drums), Dec Martens (guitar), and Gus Romer (bass). Taking their cue from an unlikely set of influences -- AC/DC, Cosmic Psychos, Dolly Parton, and Die Antwoord -- they huddled together in Taylor's room to write, record, mix, and release their debut EP, Giddy Up, in 12 hours. That 2016 EP was followed in 2017 with the self-released Big Attraction EP which featured "I'm Not a Loser." The track was illustrative of the band's instinct for a killer hook and demonstrated their low-rent charm and snotty sense of humor.

While steadily gathering an infamous live reputation, Amyl & the Sniffers began to secure slots at festivals like Bigsound in Brisbane, Meredith, and CherryRock17. Following such successes in their native Australia, word began to spread, leading to interest from British and American labels. In the States, Burger Records put out Big Attraction on cassette, and in the U.K., Damaged Goods combined their first two EPs for release on 12" vinyl in 2018. That same year the band embarked on their first headlining U.K. tour and hit the road in support of King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard across America before signing to Rough Trade. Their debut LP, Amyl and the Sniffers, arrived in the summer of 2019 and included singles "Monsoon Rock" and "Got You."

The men behind the European downtempo outfit Zero 7 -- producers Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker -- launched their careers in the music industry as tea boys at a London recording studio. Shortly thereafter, however, both were in the thick of action, working alongside a string of well-known British musicians such as the Pet Shop Boys and Robert Plant. They spent the best part of the '90s honing their production skills behind the scenes. Then, after taking on the name of a nightclub in Honduras, the duo gradually began unleashing their own ideas onto an unsuspecting public.

Glaswegian metal band Bleed from Within's combination of crushing guitars with sweeping melodies has made them a favorite on the U.K.'s live metal scene. The band formed in 2005 at their local youth club in Hamilton -- just outside of Glasgow, Scotland -- where they met up to play Lamb of God covers. Initially the band consisted of Scott Kennedy (vocals), Ali Richardson (drums), Craig Gowans (bass), Dave Lennon (guitar), and Scott McCreadie (guitar). In the next two years, the group graduated from covers and managed to self-record two EPs, 2006's Eyes of the Forgotten and 2007's Welcome to the Plague Year. The EPs caught the attention of Rising Records, who signed them in 2008 and released their debut album, Humanity, the year after. Soon after their debut, the line-up underwent some changes, with McCreadie bowing out and Gowans switching from bass to guitar; they hired Dave Provan as their new bassist. In 2010, the group found widespread recognition after taking part in Metal Hammer's Razor Tour alongside Sylosis and While She Sleeps. Capitalizing on their new-found popularity, they released their sophomore album, Empire, later the same year.

The next two years saw several more changes, most notably Martyn Evans replacing Lennon on guitar and a switch to Century Media Records; their third album, Uprising, arrived in 2013 on the new label. The rest of the year was dedicated to touring, including support slots for Testament and Megadeth, and a slot on Metal Hammer's Defenders of the Faith IV Tour with Amon Amarth, Hell, and Carcass. In 2014, the band crowd-funded their Death Walk EP, posited as a bridge between their fourth and fifth album.

However, their fifth album was delayed by four years as the band worked through personal issues, including Evans' departure. They attempted to continue as a four-piece for a time, although they concluded that they would not be able to operate without two guitars, leading to the arrival of Steven Jones. Their fifth album, Era, was eventually released in 2018, again on Century Media.

May 1st sees the release of “Man Alive”, the second single from Deep Purple’s highly anticipated studio album “Whoosh!”.

With “Man Alive”, Deep Purple delivers a perfect example for the versatility of their new album. The band explores their progressive-rock side while, once again, Ian Gillan shows his passion for storytelling.

After exploring the boundaries of time and space with the video for “Throw My Bones”, the first single of “Whoosh!”, Deep Purple step into the next chapter on their way to the release of the new album and again keep their fingers on the pulse time. The new video is both, a declaration of love to Mother Earth as well as a concerned look into the future.

“Man Alive” is available for Streaming and Download here: https://ift.tt/2VReHtn

Deep Purple’s brand-new studio album “Whoosh!” follows their worldwide chart-topping albums “inFinite” (2017) and “NOW What?!” (2013). For the third time, Deep Purple joins forces with producer Bob Ezrin, and together they created the most versatile album in their collaboration, “stretching out in all directions” without any limitation, letting their creativity go.

“Deep Purple is putting the Deep back into Purple” was the half-joking motto in the studio after the first songs made it clear that Ezrin and Purple were on a path to creating an album pushing the boundaries of time, while voicing their resentment about the current situation of the world and addressing all generations.

“Whoosh is an onomatopoeic word that, when viewed through one end of a radio-telescope, describes the transient nature of humanity on Earth; and, through the other end from a closer perspective, illustrates the career of Deep Purple.” - ig

“Whoosh!” will be available as Limited CD+DVD Mediabook (incl. the 1h feature “Roger Glover and Bob Ezrin in conversation” and, for the first time, the full live performance at Hellfest 2017 as video), 2LP+DVD Edition, Limited Box Set and Digital on August 7th, 2020 on earMUSIC.

An intriguing mix of synth pop, indie, and hip-hop influences, Glass Animals are an Oxford, England-based band featuring singer/guitarist Dave Bayley, guitarist/keyboardist Drew MacFarlane, bassist/keyboardist Edmund Irwin-Singer and drummer Joe Seaward. Bayley and Seaward were childhood friends, but didn't start making music together until they finished school. Bayley had been writing and recording songs in his spare time, and ultimately drafted Seaward, MacFarlane and Irwin-Singer to play with him. While they were still at university they released their debut EP, Leaflings, in 2012. Though Bayley had planned to go to medical school after graduation, Glass Animals captured the attention of acclaimed producer Paul Epworth, who signed them to his label Wolf Tone in 2013 and released the Glass Animals EP, which included the single "Black Mambo." In 2014, the band released their debut album, Zaba, which blended electronics with indie guitar music and was co-produced by Bayley and Epworth.

Glass Animals spent much of the next two years touring the world and gathering stories from the people they encountered (which Bayley secretly recorded on his phone). The band used these tales as lyrical inspiration for their second album, which the band recorded in late 2015. How to Be a Human Being, a concept album with each song telling the story of a different character, arrived in August 2016.

"The Waiting" is the lead single from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' album Hard Promises released in 1981. The song peaked at #19 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and #1 on the magazine's new Rock Tracks chart, where it remained for six consecutive weeks during the summer of 1981.

Imploding the Mirage is the upcoming sixth studio album by American rock band the Killers. It is scheduled to be released through Island Records in 2020. It was preceded by the lead single "Caution", released on March 13, 2020. The band will embark on a world tour in support of the album, although they have since delayed ticket sales due to the ongoing 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic.
