Voivod were one of the first thrash bands from Canada to gain popularity outside of their home country. From their beginnings in the early '80s, their main goal was to be different from anyone else. They created an iconoclastic sound that ranged from screaming thrash to Rush-style prog to straightforward hard rock, but every album contains their sonic DNA, evidenced by dissonant chords, odd and quickly shifting time signatures, homemade sound effects, and manic, thundering drums. After a pair of raw but rewarding offerings, they came into their own by embracing prog elements on 1987's Killing Technology and 1988's Dimension Hatröss. Their personnel has shifted over time, but their relentless quest for musical invention remained (and eventually focused on post-psychedelic metal) on later recordings such as 2018's Wake.

The 1975 and Ben Ditto have curated an online exhibition of 15 artists responding to tracks from NOACF.
01 Most Dismal Swamp responds to ‘Tonight (I Wish I Was Your Boy)’.

In response to ‘Tonight (I Wish I Was Your Boy)’, Most Dismal Swamp (MDS) has worked with a group of artists to build a virtual environment and film a narrative within it. MDS began by “situating the voice in the song that seemed to be stuck in a moment, thinking of another time and even another timeline. The old and despondent teddy bear is the character I decided would inhabit this space—lost in reverie and nightmare, somewhere between nostalgia and anxiety.”

So tonight lead singer Matty Healy becomes a bear; a bear in his little bedroom that sings of an unnamed pain; a bear that wishes he was your boy.

MDS is a collective art project by Dane Sutherland, who describes it as a “mixed-reality biome”, amongst many other things: “ a multi-scalar mystic fiction … a curatorial MMORPG … a planetary weirding studio.” He’s interested in world-building and likes to collaborate with other artists on composite mixed realities like this one.

Inspired by the album’s exploration of technology, hope and anxiety, MDS decided to build a gamer’s bedroom with the GVN908 collective. In this bedroom lives a despondent, lovestruck teddy bear, modelled by Hannah Rose Stewart. He has a view of the world outside, of an expansive meadow through a distorting baroque window, and also a view of the world inside, through his computer screen, on which an animation by Tissue Hunter and 3D model by Olia Svetlanova become bad thoughts that haunt him; cursed images that leak out into his room, and maybe also into yours.

The film, MDS hopes, has the same dreamlike quality as the song it accompanies: “A bittersweet dream where you’d get lost, then have that feeling amplified by the shock of your actual reality when the dream ends.”

Enslaved are masters of Norwegian black/Viking metal who have, since the early '90s, consistently employed a forward-thinking approach to their craft while retaining their extreme roots. Though they emerged at the dawn of black metal's second wave, they offered a vastly more complex compositional style and rejected the term "black metal" as too limiting. They were right. Enslaved's aesthetic has dictated change as the true constant in their music. 1997's Eld, with its warm production and clean vocals, offered the 16-minute epic "793 (Slaget om Lindisfarne)," devoted to the raid that arguably began the Viking age. Originally regarded by the metal press as "too weird," it has since been reclassified an ahead-of-its-time classic. 2003's Below the Lights marked a creative songwriting expansion; Enslaved were unafraid to explore and depict emotional and psychological states with different instruments. They were delighted by the reception of 2015's In Times; it peaked at number four on the Heatseekers chart. 2017's E was interestingly built from the metaphorical bones of 2008's Vertebrae (a first for Enslaved), but employed almost entirely new strategies in dynamics, instrumentation, and textural dimension as their sound evolved. It won Norway's version of the Grammy for Metal Album of the Year.

In January of 2020, Enslaved announced the release of Utgard, a new studio outing. Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, they postponed its release date until November.

The musicians in Northern Irish punk-pop trio Ash first played together in 1989, when childhood mates Tim Wheeler and Mark Hamilton received guitars for Christmas and established a metal act named Vietnam. Following a handful of shows, Vietnam adopted the Ash moniker in 1992 and added Rick "Rock" McMurray on drums. The musicians shared a love for the raw British punk of the Buzzcocks and crafted their musical talents to take the Brit-pop scene by storm at the start of the decade. NME was soon swooning over these "teen punkers from Belfast," and by 1994, Ash had signed with Infectious Records and issued the Trailer EP.

English quintet Blossoms burst onto the British scene in the 2010s, quickly rising from local clubs to festival stages within a few short years. Their breakthrough debut landed in 2016 after years of anticipation, topping charts and winning fans with a catchy, synth-forward blend of Brit-pop and indie rock heard on songs like hit single "Charlemagne." Incorporating more new wave influences on their follow-up, 2018's Cool Like You, the band maintained their presence on U.K. charts and on the touring circuit. By the end of the decade, they were selling out shows, including one at a hometown stadium. The group entered a new decade in 2020 with their third LP, the lovelorn Foolish Loving Spaces.

Description :

Florida Georgia Line are an American country music duo consisting of vocalists Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley. Their 2012 debut single "Cruise" broke two major sales records: it was downloaded over seven million times, making it the first country song ever to receive the Diamond certification, and it became the best-selling digital country song of all time, with 24 weeks at number one, until it was surpassed in July 2017 by Sam Hunt's "Body Like a Back Road". "Cruise" remains their most popular song to date. "Cruise" helped to pioneer a style of country music known as "bro-country", which incorporates production elements from rock and hip-hop music, and tends to cover subject matter such as partying, drinking, driving trucks and romantic attraction.[6] Much of their subsequent music has been tagged with the "bro-country" label as well.

Florida Georgia Line was formed in 2010 in Nashville, Tennessee, and began as a cover band. In December 2011, they signed to the Big Loud Mountain label. Their second EP, It'z Just What We Do, was released in 2012 and charted on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. Several months later they signed with Republic Nashville, part of the Big Machine Label Group. They released their second album, Anything Goes on October 14, 2014. Their third album, Dig Your Roots, was released on August 26, 2016, and the fourth Can't Say I Ain't Country on February 15, 2019.

Genre : Rock & Alternative

"Stupid Girl" is a song by the English rock band the Rolling Stones, featured on their 1966 album Aftermath. It was also issued as the B-side of the U.S. "Paint It, Black" single.

Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, "Stupid Girl" is noted for its apparently degrading lyrics towards women, a claim also made about other Stones songs like "Under My Thumb". On the song, Bill Janovitz says in his review,

"Unlike another of the album's put-downs, "Under My Thumb," "Stupid Girl" rails and spits venom with a high school garage rock band-like intensity and with about the same level of polish and focus. But while it is not as well-written as "Under My Thumb," "Stupid Girl" possesses an endearing and energetic snottiness that might have won the Stones a good amount of sexually frustrated young men fans who might have otherwise started to defect to the Who and the Kinks when they heard ballads like "Lady Jane."

On the song's lyrics, Richards said in a 1971 interview with Rolling Stone,

"It was all a spin-off from our environment... hotels, and too many dumb chicks. Not all dumb, not by any means, but that's how one got. When you're canned up - half the time it's impossible to go out - it was to go through a whole sort of football match."

When asked about the song and its influences, Jagger said in a 1995 interview with the same magazine,

"Yeah, it's much nastier than 'Under My Thumb'... Obviously, I was having a bit of trouble. I wasn't in a good relationship. Or I was in too many bad relationships. I had so many girlfriends at that point. None of them seemed to care they weren't pleasing me very much. I was obviously in with the wrong group."

I'm not talking about the kind of clothes she wears - look at that stupid girl. I'm not talking about the way she combs her hair - look at that stupid girl.

The way she talks about someone else; That she don't even know herself; She's the sickest thing in this world; Well look at that stupid girl

"Stupid Girl" was recorded at Los Angeles' RCA Studios on 6–9 March 1966. With Jagger on lead vocals and tambourine, Richards on electric guitars and backing vocals Brian Jones on acoustic. Charlie Watts on drums, while Bill Wyman plays bass. Ian Stewart plays organ on the song while Jack Nitzsche performs electric piano.

"Stupid Girl" was performed by the Stones during their tour of 1966. It has been included on the 1989 compilation Singles Collection: The London Years.

Amid work as an actor, dancer, and choreographer along with other creative pursuits, Teyana Taylor has had a labyrinthine career as an R&B recording artist, highlighted by the forthright, soul-rooted Top 20 albums VII (2014) and K.T.S.E. (2018). The Harlem native signed with the Neptunes' Star Trak label, helped popularize the Chicken Noodle Soup dance, and aided in the choreography for Beyoncé's "Ring the Alarm" video by the time she appeared on a 2007 episode of MTV's My Super Sweet 16, when she became visible to the public. The year after Taylor made her television debut, she released her brash first single, the Jazze Pha-produced "Google Me." The track reached number 90 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and was followed in 2009 by the mixtape From a Planet Called Harlem, but that was the extent of her output for Star Trak. By the end of the year, she'd picked up a co-writing credit on "So Cold," a cut included on Chris Brown's Grammy-nominated Graffiti.

The start of the following decade was pivotal for Taylor. In 2010, she was cast in Stomp the Yard 2: Homecoming -- her first of several acting roles -- and contributed vocals to Kanye West's Grammy-winning My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Released from Star Trak parent label Interscope, she signed to West's Def Jam-affiliated G.O.O.D. label, where she debuted on the 2012 compilation Cruel Summer, a number two hit featuring her input on "Sin City" and "Bliss." Taylor released another mixtape in 2012, but her proper debut, VII, didn't arrive until November 2014. Promoted with the singles "Maybe" and "Do Not Disturb," two of several steamy ballads, the album debuted at number 19 on the Billboard 200. A self-issued EP appeared in 2015, but another three years passed prior to the true follow-up to VII, during which Taylor spent time with her daughter. She appeared on 2017 tracks by Meek Mill and the duo of Fabolous and Jadakiss, and in June 2018 issued K.T.S.E. The short album, featuring co-production from West on every track, debuted at number 17.

With his slicked-back hair and leather jacket, G-Eazy was known as "the James Dean of rap" when he debuted in the late 2000s. Armed with bars that detailed hedonistic excess and conflicted inner turmoil, he steadily climbed the charts in the 2010s on the strength of his hit duet with Bebe Rexha, "Me, Myself & I," from his major-label debut, 2014's These Things Happen. He repeated that success in 2017 with third album The Beautiful & Damned, which paired him with Halsey on the platinum "Him & I," and A$AP Rocky and Cardi B on the Top Four hit "No Limit."

Eazy's 2019 output included the EP B-Sides, the single "West Coast" featuring Blueface, and a bevy of features on tracks by Chris Brown, Carnage, and T-Pain. He closed the year with a second EP, Scary Nights, which recruited Moneybagg Yo, French Montana, Miguel, and others.

Queens unite to celebrate the re-imagining of an iconic song with an extra fabulous, alternative video, featuring some of the most iconic drag queens in the world. The feel-good summer anthem is given a new lease of life, with more than 20 fierce divas lip syncing for their life in a video to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and the start of Pride season. Both George Michael and Mary J. Blige are activists for and supporters of queer rights and George’s campaigning for LGBTQ rights offered a life raft to many.

With many celebrations being cancelled due to COVID-19, the video was filmed safely whilst in quarantine and included cameos from Ru-Paul’s Drag Race season 10 winner Aquaria, Season 11 winner Yvie Oddly, All-stars Shea Coulee, Trinity The Tuck, Valentina and British/Irish queens Divina De Campo, Cheryl Hole, Blu Hyrdrangea alongside the legendary Lady Bunny.

'Always' by Waze & Odyssey and Tommy Theo has been given the seal of approval from all artists for the first time in musical history, with both the late George Michael and Mary J. Blige now listed as credited artists. The sound of the summer has arrived in the shape of this incredible anthem, which is set to meteorically rise with the addition of these world class queens.

A gifted songwriter and a versatile pianist with no formal training, Sara Bareilles burst onto the pop scene in the early 2000s with a dynamic vocal range that earned her comparisons to Fiona Apple, Regina Spektor, and Ingrid Michaelson. Her breakthrough sophomore effort, 2007's Little Voice, went platinum, while follow-up Kaleidoscope Heart topped the charts in 2010. In addition to her pop pursuits, Bareilles also delved into the world of theater, writing the music for the 2015 Tony-nominated stage production Waitress (she later starred in 2017/2018 engagements); starring in the 2018 Emmy- and Grammy-nominated Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert!; and contributing to pop reimaginings of tracks from Hamilton and The Greatest Showman. In 2020, she won a Grammy for her performance of "Saint Honesty," a song from her sixth studio album, Amidst the Chaos.

Weird and wild enough to be associated with Soulja Boy, Andy Milonakis, O.G. Ron C., and Diplo's Mad Decent crew, Houston rapper Riff Raff first came on the scene in 2009 as a contestant on MTV's From G's to Gents, a competitive reality series where hardcore ballers tried to become sophisticates. According to OutKast associate and the show's host Fonzworth Bentley, Riff Raff was "beyond" his help, but "crazy like a fox" was another way to think of it, as the rapper had the MTV logo tattooed on his neck, thus allowing him to use the network's name legally on his MTV Riff Raff mixtapes, his posts to video-sharing sites, and all his free tracks uploaded to social media. Thanks to Riff Raff mentioning his phone number in his songs, he was contacted by like-minded rapper Dirt Nasty, along with Andy Milonakis, for some collaborative tracks that landed beginning in 2010, and by 2011 he was signed to Soulja Boy's label and production house, S.O.D. Money Gang Inc. The relationship didn't last long, as Riff Raff signed with Diplo's Mad Decent label in 2012 and issued his Birth of an Icon mixtape. The tape featured early hits like "Jose Canseco" and "Jody Highroller," along with the Action Bronson team-up "Bird on a Wire." He also teamed up with Milonakis and Nasty in 2012 for the project and album Three Loco, while 2013 saw him partner with DollaBillGates for the album Jumpin Out the Gym. In 2014, he went back to his solo career with the Mad Decent release Neon Icon. The album featured the singles "How to Be the Man" and "Tip Toe Wing in My Jawwdinz," and in 2015 it was remixed by DJ O.G. Ron C. for the release Purple Icon: Chopped Not Slopped. Released by the MC's own label, Neon Nation, Peach Panther followed in 2016. The album featured the single "Carlos Slim," the Gucci Mane and Danny Brown collaboration "I Drive By," and plenty of beats from the Atlanta production crew 808 Mafia. Later that year, he and DJ Afterthought released the highly collaborative Balloween, which featured guest spots from Skepta, Quavo, DJ Paul, and many others. Maintaining his prolific run, Riff Raff followed up in early 2017 with the Aquaberry Aquarius mixtape and the full-length LP, The White West. A collaborative album with DJ Afterthought, Cool Blue Jewels, kicked off 2018, with Alcoholic Alligator following just a few months later.

A multi-platinum singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist, Hunter Hayes is a forerunner in today’s country music scene. With the breakout success of his self-titled, debut album Hunter Hayes, Hunter quickly carved out his place on the country music charts and awards landscape with hits like “Wanted”, “I Want Crazy”, “Everybody’s Got Somebody but Me (featuring Jason Mraz)”, and “Storm Warning”. His next album Storyline, featuring hit songs “Invisible” and “Tattoo”, and The 21 Project, a multi-genre window into Hunter's creative mind, further cemented his growing legacy. Following the release of the critically acclaimed tracks “Dear God” and “One Shot” in 2018, Hunter is back with his new single “Heartbreak”, ready to forge new musical roads and add to that legacy.
