The Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 36, is a symphony in four movements written by Ludwig van Beethoven between 1801 and 1802. The work is dedicated to Karl Alois, Prince Lichnowsky.

Beethoven's Second Symphony was mostly written during Beethoven's stay at Heiligenstadt in 1802, at a time when his deafness was becoming more pronounced and he began to realize that it might be incurable. The work was premiered in the Theater an der Wien in Vienna on 5 April 1803, and was conducted by the composer. During that same concert, the Third Piano Concerto and the oratorio Christ on the Mount of Olives were also debuted. It is one of the last works of Beethoven's early period.

Beethoven wrote the Second Symphony without a standard minuet; instead, a scherzo took its place, giving the composition even greater scope and energy. The scherzo and the finale are filled with Beethovenian musical jokes, which shocked the sensibilities of many contemporary critics. One Viennese critic for the Zeitung fuer die elegante Welt (Newspaper for the Elegant World) famously wrote of the Symphony that it was "a hideously writhing, wounded dragon that refuses to die, but writhing in its last agonies and, in the fourth movement, bleeding to death."

An affable entertainer since his childhood, OMI (the son of musician Jah Ken) was discovered by Clifton "Specialist" Dillon, who has been a major factor in the careers of Shabba Ranks and Patra. He is best known for the international multi-platinum chart-topper "Cheerleader," which appeared on his debut, 2015's Me 4 U.
Born Omar Samuel Pasley in Clarendon, Jamaica, OMI debuted in 2011 with "Standing on All Threes." The following year he returned with "Cheerleader," an easygoing reggae-pop single that he co-wrote and co-produced. It fared rather well, particularly in New Zealand, where it went platinum. "Take It Easy" and "Color of My Lips" (featuring Busy Signal) were issued as follow-up singles, but neither fared as well.

In 2014, a light Felix Jaehn dance remix of "Cheerleader" topped pop charts in several territories, including Australia, Belgium, Ireland, Sweden, and Switzerland. In the U.S., it reached the Top Five the following year. Follow-up "Hula Hoop" peaked in the Australian and Swedish Top Tens and led to the October 2015 release of OMI's first album, Me 4 U. In the years that followed, OMI hopped onto singles with the Vamps ("I Found a Girl"), Shaggy ("Seasons"), and Marcus & Martinus ("Never"). In 2018, he reunited with "Cheerleader"-reviver Felix Jaehn for the single "Masterpiece."

Sauce Twinz bring their "Sauce" lifestyle to the fore on their energetic brand of rap. The Houston-based duo come from a long line of H-Town staples like Paul Wall and Slim Thug, pushing their "Sauce" philosophy through DJ-Screw- and Atlanta-trap-influenced party-starters, like if OG Maco and Desiigner joined Migos. Sippers of the "Sauce," theirs is a lifestyle that they believe in as much as a religion. The pair -- Sancho Saucy and Sauce Walka -- leads the Sauce Familia/Sauce Factory crew, which also counts Sosamann, Rodji Diego, Rizzoo Rizzoo, Sauce Miyagi, and others amongst its members. They made their debut in 2014 with the In Sauce We Trust mixtape, which featured the likes of Slim Thug and Kirko Bangz, issuing Sauceamania and Sauce Theft Auto later in 2015.

One of the most successful groove metal bands of the 2010s, Five Finger Death Punch have been a staple of the Billboard charts since their formation in 2005. Taking their name from the cult martial arts film The Five Fingers of Death, the band's titanic riffs and darkly skewed lyrics deliver a brand of vintage thrash and blazing metal as powerful as their name. In the years following their 2007 debut, they have amassed a slew of awards via gold and platinum-selling outings like 2011's American Capitalist, 2013's ambitious two-volume set The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell, and 2018's And Justice for None.

Two years later the band returned with F8, their eighth full-length effort and the first outing with new drummer Charlie Engen.

Hadestown - "Live @ NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert" [R'n'B, Soul, Funk, Live In Concert]

"Live @ NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert" music video by Hadestown

Description : Hadestown: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert

This performance was recorded on March 2, 2020. We will continue releasing Tiny Desk videos of shows that had already been taped. In light of current events, NPR is postponing new live tapings of Tiny Desk Concerts. In the meantime, check out Tiny Desk (home) concerts! They’re recorded by the artists in their home. It’s the same spirit — stripped-down sets, an intimate setting — just a different space.

June 1, 2020 | Stephen Thompson -- You can probably guess that we recorded the original Broadway cast of Hadestown before the coronavirus pandemic made live theater (live anything) an untenable risk. The reminders are everywhere — in the way 16 performers bunch up behind the desk, singing formidably in close proximity as a large crowd gathers just off camera — that this took place in the Before-Times. To be specific, on March 2.

We'd actually been trying to put this show together since the spring of 2019, when Hadestown was a freshly Tony-nominated hit musical. We hit several delays along the way due to scheduling issues, only to end up rushing in an attempt to record while playwright Anaïs Mitchell — who wrote both the musical and the 2010 folk opera on which it's based — was eight months pregnant.

Thankfully, we captured something truly glorious — a five-song distillation of a robust and impeccably staged Broadway production. A raucous full-cast tone-setter, "Way Down Hadestown" lets Hermes (André De Shields, in a role that won him a Tony) and Persephone (Kimberly Marable, filling in for Amber Gray) set the scene before a medley of "Come Home With Me" and "Wedding Song" finds Orpheus (Reeve Carney) and Eurydice (Eva Noblezada) meeting and falling in love. "When the Chips Are Down" showcases the three Fates — spirits who often drive the characters' motivations — as played by Jewelle Blackman, Yvette Gonzalez-Nacer and Kay Trinidad. And in "Flowers," Eurydice looks back with regret and resignation on her decision to leave Orpheus for the promise of Hadestown.

Finally, the set concludes with "Why We Build the Wall," which quickly became Hadestown's most talked-about number. (Mitchell wrote it a full decade before the 2016 election, but you'd never know it.) Though the song includes the full cast, it's also a show-stopping showcase for the sonorous thunder of Patrick Page, who performs with a gravity befitting the king of the underworld.
