Description : Elton John - Sacrifice (Live At The Great Amphitheatre, Ephesus, Turkey / 2001)

Elton’s first solo #1 in the UK gets the stripped-down treatment this evening, further revealing the classic beauty of the song’s lyric and melody. Both Elton and Bernie Taupin have singled out this track as a favorite from their five-decade long catalogue, with the lyricist noting that it is somewhat of a companion piece to ‘Your Song’.

Fluidly switching between tough rapping and yearning, sentimental crooning, GASHI delivers personal, introspective lyrics over hazy, atmospheric synths and trap beats.

Born Labinot Gashi in Libya to Albanian parents, he spent his childhood in several African and European countries before moving to Brooklyn in the late '90s. Rap music helped him learn English, and eventually he decided to pursue a career in music. After dropping out of college, he started working on a mixtape as the Kid Gashi. Later, he shortened it to just Gashi, and then modified the formatting to GASHI. Following the 2011 mixtape Last of a Rare Breed, he formed the group Moxy in 2012, in addition to releasing the single "Rocket." Mixtapes I'll Be Right with You (2013) and 4Play (2014) followed. GASHI's Stairs EP appeared on the Order Label in 2016. He also made two appearances on DJ Snake's Encore album, including "Oh Me Oh My," also featuring Migos and Travis Scott. GASHI's 2017 "Disrespectful" single ended up being his biggest hit so far, racking up millions of streams.

The following year, his singles included "Creep on Me," featuring French Montana and DJ Snake. He released several singles throughout 2019, including "My Year" with G-Eazy, "Roses," and "Safety," again featuring DJ Snake. GASHI's self-titled debut album arrived that September via RCA Records. After featuring on Felix Jaehn's "Sicko" in early 2020, he released his own single, "Cabin Fever."

The stylistic range of left-field pop artist Kali Uchis is reflected in the variety of her collaborators -- an extensive genre-crossing list that includes Tyler, the Creator, Gorillaz, Daniel Caesar, Juanes, and BadBadNotGood. A singer, songwriter, and producer, as well as a video director, Uchis truly arrived on her own with the self-released Por Vida (2015), an EP that led to a deal with Virgin EMI. By the time Uchis released her lively debut full-length, the Top Five Billboard R&B/hip-hop hit Isolation (2018), she had already been nominated for Grammy awards through her featured appearances on Caesar's "Get You" and Juanes' "El Ratico."

January 2018 saw the release of the BadBadNotGood-produced single "After the Storm" (featuring Tyler and Bootsy). Uchis released her debut album, Isolation, three months later. It debuted at number 32 on the Billboard 200 and entered the R&B/hip-hop chart at number four. An EP, To Feel Alive, arrived in April 2020 and included the song "i want war (BUT I NEED PEACE)."

Jorja Smith is an English singer and songwriter whose heartfelt and streetwise R&B has invoked comparisons to the likes of AlunaGeorge, Rihanna, and Amy Winehouse, the latter of whom the Walsall-based artist cites as her biggest influence. Within a three-year span, Smith appeared on the U.K. indie chart with her moody, MOBO-nominated debut single, "Blue Lights" (2016); she nearly cracked the Top Ten of the U.K. dance chart with "On My Mind" (2017); and after three additional MOBO nominations, she crossed into the Top 40 with the Stormzy-assisted ballad "Let Me Down" (2018). During this time, Smith also contributed to Drake's More Life play list and the Kendrick Lamar-guided soundtrack for Black Panther, audience-expanding releases that intensified anticipation for her own Lost & Found (June 2018). Smith's album debut, a Top Five U.K. hit, was acknowledged with three Brit Awards nominations and a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist.

She returned in August 2019 with the track "Be Honest," featuring Burna Boy. Another song, "Kiss Me in the Morning," appeared in May 2020 as part of the soundtrack to the Damian Chazelle-helmed Netflix series The Eddy.

Hyperfine (On The Sound)

"Hyperfine (On The Sound)" music video by G Flip
Added: 10-08-2020
Genre : Pop
Description : G Flip - Hyperfine (on The Sound AU)

My jazzzzy people, myself and some buds played HYPERFINE in an empty arcade for The Sound Au and it aired last night, if ya missed it here it is legends

As G Flip, Melbourne's Georgia Flipo makes emotive, anthemic synth pop. After gaining attention with her 2018 debut single, "About You," she polished her sound on the following year's full-length About Us.

Flipo grew up in a music-loving family: Her father introduced her to the Clash and Green Day, while her mother passed on her affection for pop and R&B. Flipo began playing drums at age nine, when her uncle gave her a kit as a present. A few years later, she learned piano and guitar and played with bands ranging from metal to reggae acts. She idolized her high-school drum teacher, Jenny Rose Morrish, whose support and instruction helped Flipo get into Box Hill Institute, where she majored in drums and earned a Bachelor of Music. When Morrish died from cancer at age 31 in 2015, Flipo made it her goal to fulfill her teacher's dream of touring America. She became the drummer and backing vocalist for the band EMPRA and eventually toured the States with them.

When EMPRA disbanded in late 2016, Flipo dedicated herself to making her own music. She spent much of 2017 working on her production and vocal skills, teaching herself with online tutorials. She also built an audiovisual screen for her kick drum head that she named the Je Re Mo in honor of Morrish. When she wasn't working on her music, Flipo gave drum and guitar lessons to schoolchildren in her studio space.Early in 2018, she signed with the Future Classic label; that February, she released her debut single, "About You." The track earned widespread acclaim as well as chart and streaming success, and Flipo made her live debut a few months later at SXSW. To make her debut album, she collaborated with Scissor Sisters' Scott "Babydaddy" Hoffman, Melbourne-based producer/songwriter Joel Quartermain and producer Ariel Rechtshaid. About Us -- which was inspired by the on-again, off-again relationship Flipo was in during G Flip's early days -- appeared in August 2019.

Australian rapper Illy defied the "haters" to make resolutely commercial, pop-influenced hip-hop that eventually snagged him a major-label deal and a number one album. Born Alasdair Murray on September 6, 1986 and brought up in the beachfront Melbourne suburb of Frankston, Illy was a teenage tearaway who barely scraped through school. He got his start in hip-hop at just 13 with the local Crooked Eye Crew, with whom he released his first "mixtape" CD. Illy held down a succession of low-paying jobs before deciding to finally knuckle down -- he applied to law school and emerged some years later with a degree. Eventually, the Crooked Eye Crew split up after each of its members became too busy with their own projects, and Illy decided to pursue a solo career. He signed to the Obese label and released his debut solo album, Long Story Short, in 2009. From the outset, his music was based on strong melodic hooks and his louche, laid-back, sing-speak flow. The album hit the urban chart but did not bother the pop chart. However, he built exposure by embarking on a nationwide tour, and his sophomore effort, The Chase, released the following year, did much better, going to number 25 on the main chart.

2012's Bring It Back was his breakthrough album, going to number 15 upon release and winning him an ARIA Award (the Australian Grammys) for best urban album. Following its release, he left Obese to set up his own label, OneTwo, and signed a licensing deal with Warner Music for the release of his fourth album, 2013's Cinematic. The album was largely produced by his former Crooked Eye crewmate M-Phazes, who had since become a big name in his own right, contributing beats to the likes of Eminem. It was more "pop" than ever before, as Illy broadened his songwriting palette, and featured collaborations with numerous guest vocalists including the Hilltop Hoods, Drapht, Daniel Merriweather, and Scarlett Stevens. The album hit number five on the chart and went gold. Illy's streak of success continued with his 2016 album Two Degrees. His most pop-oriented to date, it gave him his biggest hit yet, going to number one and producing the number two single "Papercuts," featuring Vera Blue. Produced once again by M-Phazes, it also featured Rudimental's Anne-Marie on the track "Catch 22" and was nominated for no fewer than six ARIA awards.
