Known for its yearning, moody sound, California's Night Riots make anthemic, synth-heavy dance-rock centered on charismatic lead vocalist Travis Hawley.

Hailing from Templeton, a small town outside San Luis Obispo, Night Riots began as a high school band featuring Hawley on drums with Matt DePauw on guitar and Mikel Van Kranenburg on bass. By 2010, Hawley had moved to lead vocals with Rico Rodriguez taking over drumming duties. That same year, going under the name PK, the group released the self-produced album Into the Roaring. Two years later they returned with the Lost Boys Sessions EP. Around this time, they formally adopted the name Night Riots and released their second EP, Young Lore.

Rather than sign with a label, Night Riots built up a following by touring regularly with a focus on playing multiple shows in each town, including appearances at local high schools. The concept worked, and the group developed a loyal fan base despite its comparatively low public profile. In 2015, Night Riots released their third studio EP, Howl, featuring the single "Contagious." Debut album Love Gloom followed in late 2016, accompanied by the singles "Nothing Personal" and "Fangs." Released on the Sumerian label, it made a strong showing on Billboard's Heatseekers chart. The group adopted a brighter sound on 2019's nostalgic and eminently danceable New State of Mind.

Detroit rapper DeJ Loaf has brought powerful rhymes and R&B smoothness to multiple viral hits, beginning in the mid-2010s. Her bulletproof lyrical presence attracted the attention of stars, earning a co-sign from Drake for her breakthrough single "Try Me" in 2014 and a featured verse on the Eminem-led all-star Detroit anthem "Detroit vs. Everybody" in 2015.

DeJ Loaf was born Deja Trimble in 1991. She grew up on the east side of Detroit and started writing lyrics at a young age. In high school, after she quit playing basketball at the junior varsity level, she began to take music more seriously. At some point she established her stage name, with DeJ pronounced similar to "beige" and Loaf a reference to her footwear preference. Through a period that included a few semesters of attending Saginaw Valley State and working as a janitor at a Chrysler factory, she continued to develop her talent but didn't gain much traction. In July 2014, two years after she released her first mixtape, she uploaded "Try Me," a low-key, melodic track produced by Ypsilanti native DDS, which caught the attention of Drake, who referenced it on Instagram. The platinum-selling star's acknowledgment increased DeJ's profile exponentially and set off a wave of unauthorized versions from fellow rappers. (She did approve of a version that featured a verse from Wiz Khalifa.)

DeJ Loaf signed to Columbia, issued a second mixtape, and appeared on the Aftermath release "Detroit vs. Everybody" beside fellow Detroiters Eminem, Royce da 5'9", Big Sean, Danny Brown, and Trick Trick. Columbia's official release of "Try Me" reached the Top Ten of Billboard's Hot Rap Songs chart. "We Good," also produced by DDS, was issued as her second major-label single. After a handful of headlining gigs, she closed out 2014 by opening for fan Erykah Badu at Detroit's Fox Theater. In 2015, Loaf released the #AndSeeThatsTheThing EP along with the hit single "Back Up" featuring Big Sean. She issued the mixtape All Jokes Aside in 2016, followed by Fuck a Friend Zone, a mixtape created in collaboration with Jacquees, in 2017. Later that year, a pair of singles, "No Fear" and "Big Ole Boss," from her forthcoming debut album appeared. That record was slow to materialize, and in 2018 she released the six-song EP Go DeJ Go Vol. 1. The next new music from Loaf would be the low-lit R&B-dazzled single "Bubbly," which arrived in February 2020.

Beck - "Hyperspace (AI Exploration) (Album Stream)" [Rock & Alternative, Album Streams]

Hyperspace (AI Exploration) (Album Stream)

"Hyperspace (AI Exploration) (Album Stream)" music video by Beck
Added: 12-08-2020
Genre : Rock & Alternative, Album Streams
Description : Hyperspace is the fourteenth studio album by American musician Beck. It was released through Capitol Records on November 22, 2019. The album was primarily produced by Beck and Pharrell Williams, as well as Cole M.G.N., Greg Kurstin and Paul Epworth. It was preceded by the release of the lead single "Saw Lightning" on April 15, 2019, the track "Hyperlife", as well as the second single "Uneventful Days" on October 17, 2019, and the third single "Dark Places" on November 7, 2019.

Beck stated that he "had a few things" after concluding the tour for Colors, and "wanted to seize the moment" by working on his own project with Williams after Williams had asked Beck to work on a N.E.R.D album, also revealing that their collaboration was initially "going to be a single or an EP, but I think we were both surprised when there was a body of work here".

Hyperspace received mostly positive reviews from music critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album has an average score of 77 based on 19 reviews, indicating "generally favorable reviews". Variety writer A. D. Amorosi wrote that "Beck and Pharrell Williams find new life in minimalist, cosmopolitan synth-pop" on the album, surmising that "the hard-to-hold hooks and spaciousness of 'Hyperspace' are what makes it so intriguing".

Description : Hollies - Daddy Don't Mind • TopPop

The Hollies continued to have singles chart hits during the rest of the seventies, but mostly in Europe and New Zealand. In 1976, for example, the group released three singles in three different styles, none of which charted in the UK or the US. "Star," an uptempo harmony number reminiscent of their sixties hits, charted only in New Zealand and Australia, the hard rock number "Daddy Don't Mind" charted only in The Netherlands and Germany, and "Wiggle That Wotsit," an excursion into disco territory, charted only in The Netherlands, Sweden, and New Zealand. Especially popular outside of the US, always very professional in their continuous concert engagements, the Hollies had album chart successes with compilation albums in 1977 and 1978, which kept them going through the late 1970s.

"End of the Attention Span" from the "Punching the Sky" album.
Bassist Joey Vera comments: "We've teamed up with video director Robert Graves for our first single, 'End of the Attention Span'. Robert got the lyrical content right away and together we delved into society's ongoing fascination with electronic devices and the insidious disconnect it creates. The irony is that most of us feel connected together through our phone and computer screens, but the reality is that we have created a wedge between ourselves. Our human interactions have been infected with an intense need for information. We're always 'looking' for more. The end result is a very damaged attention span."

Although many associate hard rock from Los Angeles in the early '80s as all glossed up and pop-based (Mötley Crüe, Ratt, Quiet Riot, etc.), there were a select few true metal bands to emerge from the same locale, such as Armored Saint. Formed in 1982 and originally comprising John Bush (vocals), David Pritchard (guitar), Phil Sandoval (guitar), Joey Vera (bass), and Gonzo Sandoval (drums, brother of Phil), the group specialized in a style of straight-ahead metal that was compared to such New Wave of British Heavy Metal acts as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Saxon, among others. The quintet issued a three-track self-titled EP on the Metal Blade label in 1983 before signing on with Chrysalis. They put out such underappreciated releases as 1984's March of the Saint, 1985's Delirious Nomad, and 1987's Raising Fear, and built a fanatical following in their native region, but failed to break through to the big time elsewhere.

Saints Will ConquerShortly after a switch back to the Metal Blade label in the late '80s, Armored Saint issued their first live recording, 1989's Saints Will Conquer, but bad news was lurking right around the corner. Founding guitarist Pritchard was diagnosed with leukemia and passed away in 1990. The group pressed on (with newcomer Jeff Duncan taking Pritchard's spot in the lineup), issuing Symbol of Salvation in 1991. But the band decided to call it a day a year later when Bush accepted an invitation to join New York thrash metallists Anthrax. By the late '90s, Armored Saint decided to reunite once more and Bush remained a member of Anthrax and Armored Saint simultaneously (Vera was also doing double duty, as he'd become a member of prog-metallists Fates Warning). The newly re-formed outfit issued an all-new recording in 2000, Revelation, while a double-disc anthology, Nod to the Old School, surfaced a year later. A decade later in 2010, the band released La Raza, their sixth full-length studio album, on Metal Blade, followed in 2015 by Win Hands Down. In 2017, the band issued the PledgeMusic-funded Carpe Noctum, a concert LP recorded at the band's 2015 Wacken festival set, as well as their headlining show in Aschaffenburg, Germany.

Sweden's Mörk Gryning (which means "dark dawn") was formed in the early-'90s by the multi-talented duo of Goth Gorgon (guitars, bass, keyboards, screams) and Draakh Kimera (vocals, guitars, keyboards, drums), who set about recording their ambitiously complex black metal on 1995's Tusen År Har Gått... and 1997's Return Fire. Unable to find capable musicians to round out a reliable touring lineup (among other problems), Mörk Gryning's career stalled for a few years leading up to 2001's long-awaited third opus, Maelstrom Chaos. Counting with the aid of guitarist Avatar, bassist Jonas Berndts, and drummer Nagys, the album's grand sonic vision did not disappoint, and countless new fans were converted to the group's cause during their powerful performance at the next year's Wacken Open Air Festival. Come 2003's equally diverse fourth effort, Pieces of Primal Expressionism, Mörk Gryning had returned to a more economical duo format, with only Aeon (synths, mellotron) added for support.

A melodic death metal quintet based out of Stockholm, Sweden, the Unguided was formed in 2010 by Richard Sjunnesson, who had previously played with Falkenberg-based metalcore unit Sonic Syndicate -- he was eventually joined by Cipher System bassist Henric Carlsson, former Sonic Syndicate vocalist Roland Johansson, and guitarist Roger Sjunnesson. The group issued a debut EP, Nightmareland, in early 2011 via Despotz Records, followed by a full-length outing, Hell Frost, later that November, also via Despotz. The band signed to Napalm Records in advance of the release of their sophomore long-player, 2014's Fragile Immortality, with Lust and Loathing arriving two years later. Original co-frontman and guitarist Roland Johansson left the fold shortly after the LP's release, and in 2017 they dropped And the Battle Royale with new vocalist Jonathan Thorpenberg.

The Washboard Union is a Canadian country music group from Vancouver, British Columbia led by principal members David Roberts, Aaron Grain (aka Brett Ellis) and Chris Duncombe.

Duncombe and Grain eventually moved to Vancouver, where they met David Roberts, who was living in a Point Grey mansion. The three began writing and singing together. They originally performed under the name Run GMC. Their debut album, The Washboard Union, was released in 2012 and produced by Garth Richardson and Bob Ezrin.

In January 2015, The Washboard Union recorded an extended play, In My Bones, at RCA Studio A in Nashville, Tennessee with producer Trey Bruce. It was released by Slaight Music/Warner Music Canada on July 10, 2015. The first single, "Some Day", went top 40, and the second and third singles, "Maybe It's the Moonshine" & "Shot of Glory", reached the top 10 and top 5 respectively on the Billboard Canada Country chart. In October 2015, The Washboard Union won the British Columbia Country Music Association Award for Roots Canadiana of the Year.

The Washboard Union's next album, What We're Made Of, was produced by Matt Rovey (Zac Brown Band, Dean Brody) in Nashville and Jeff "Diesel" Dalziel in Toronto and Vancouver over the winter of 2017/18. The album’s first single, “Shine”, was the band’s third Top Ten Country Radio hit which they performed live on the Canadian Country Music Awards and walked away with a CCMA Award for 2017 Roots Artist of the Year.

In 2018 the group performed in Liverpool, Nova Scotia at the Queens Place Emera Centre.

Dublin-based modern rock quartet Kodaline specialize in soaring, radio-ready guitar rock that's drawn comparisons to Coldplay, Keane, U2, and Oasis.

Formed in the working-class town of Swords, Ireland, around the talents of Steve Garrigan, Vinnie May, Jr., Jason Boland, and Mark Prendergast, the band released an eponymous EP in 2012, with plans to unleash a full-length outing the following year. At the end of the 2012, Kodaline were shortlisted for the BBC's Sound of 2013, but they were beaten to the top spot by HAIM. The group issued their debut album, In a Perfect World, in June 2013, which was preceded by the singles "High Hopes" and "Love Like This." The record was a major success in Ireland, going platinum twice, and it also did well in Britain (it peaked at three and went gold) as well as portions of Europe. Kodaline's second album, Coming Up for Air, followed in early 2015. The LP peaked at number four on the U.K. charts and spawned the singles "The One" and "Honest." In the summer of 2017, the band returned with the single "Brother" and the I Wouldn't Be EP. The next year, they issued the single "Follow Your Fire," which landed on their pop-leaning third full-length, Politics of Living, again topping the Irish charts. Kodaline's output remained steady, first with the concert album Live from Irving Plaza, NYC, 4 Dec 2018, followed in 2020 by their fourth album, One Day at a Time, a more stripped-down, back-to-basics, set that bassist Boland produced himself.
