Fluidly switching between tough rapping and yearning, sentimental crooning, GASHI delivers personal, introspective lyrics over hazy, atmospheric synths and trap beats.

Born Labinot Gashi in Libya to Albanian parents, he spent his childhood in several African and European countries before moving to Brooklyn in the late '90s. Rap music helped him learn English, and eventually he decided to pursue a career in music. After dropping out of college, he started working on a mixtape as the Kid Gashi. Later, he shortened it to just Gashi, and then modified the formatting to GASHI. Following the 2011 mixtape Last of a Rare Breed, he formed the group Moxy in 2012, in addition to releasing the single "Rocket." Mixtapes I'll Be Right with You (2013) and 4Play (2014) followed. GASHI's Stairs EP appeared on the Order Label in 2016. He also made two appearances on DJ Snake's Encore album, including "Oh Me Oh My," also featuring Migos and Travis Scott. GASHI's 2017 "Disrespectful" single ended up being his biggest hit so far, racking up millions of streams.

The following year, his singles included "Creep on Me," featuring French Montana and DJ Snake. He released several singles throughout 2019, including "My Year" with G-Eazy, "Roses," and "Safety," again featuring DJ Snake. GASHI's self-titled debut album arrived that September via RCA Records. After featuring on Felix Jaehn's "Sicko" in early 2020, he released his own single, "Cabin Fever."

Official Site:

A prolific Montreal-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, Yves Jarvis is the performing name of Jean-Sebastien Audet, whose experimental pop songs combine disparate elements of soul, psych, folk, post-punk, and lo-fi indie. Under the name Un Blonde, Audet found critical acclaim for his independently released 2016 album, Good Will Come to You, before changing his name to Yves Jarvis and signing with the Anti- label in 2018.

Originally from Calgary, Audet began recording music during his teenage years, trying out various facets of his artistic personality under a variety of names. Beginning around 2012, he began releasing music alternately as Faux Fur and Darren Wantz, though Un Blonde eventually became the creative vehicle that tied together his myriad influences. Following 2015's Water the Next Day album, Audet relocated to Montreal, where the cerebral indie soul of 2016's Good Will Come to You brought him critical accolades. Originally released by Montreal-based cassette label Egg Paper, the album was picked up for more widespread release by Canadian indie Flemish Eye in 2017. Near the end of that year, Audet announced his intention to forge ahead as Yves Jarvis, a combination of his middle name and his mother's surname. A deal with Anti- was announced, and in 2018 the ethereal "Fruits of Disillusion" single was released in advance of his full-length debut under the Jarvis name. Several other singles appeared before the 22-track album The Same But by Different Means was released in early 2019.

Two gifted singers, guitarists, and songwriters teamed up to create Striking Matches, a Nashville-based duo whose music is a fresh combination of country, blues, rock, and pop, with an approach that respects roots music traditions while making room for new musical thinking. The group offered up a lean but lively sound that often focused on acoustic instruments for their first album, 2015's Nothing But the Silence, but on subsequent releases, such as 2017's Shameless and 2018's Retrograde, they took on a more contemporary approach, embracing pop and R&B production tropes and adding electronic flourishes.

Nothing But the Silence was well-received, but I.R.S. closed their Nashville office the following December, which put Striking Matches in limbo. The group made the move to Capitol Records for the 2017 EP Shameless, which found them adding prominent R&B and pop accents to their music, without skimping on their harmonies or blues-infused guitar work. (Adding to their pop leanings, a follow-up single featured three dance-friendly remixes of "Shameless.") In February 2018, Striking Matches dropped another EP, Retrograde, and the title track became a major success, played over three million times on major streaming services. Those fans who missed the more rootsy sound of Striking Matches' early releases welcomed their next release, Acoustic, which featured unplugged performances of "Shameless," "Ghost," and "Medicine." In December 2018, the duo celebrated the holiday with a seasonal single, "Melted," released through the Lightning Glasses imprint, and a bluesy five-song EP, Morning, followed in May 2019. The duo gave fans a wide-ranging look at their eclectic influences, including a greater emphasis on their pop influences, with a trio of EPs: two were released in 2019 -- Morning and Noon -- with the final installment, Night, issued in 2020.

Melding the rich harmonies and melodic sweetness of '60s sunshine pop and the Beach Boys with a looser, more intimate contemporary indie pop, Shy Boys hail from Kansas City, Missouri. While they received attention from the national indie music press for their lower-fi 2014 debut, they sharpened their sound and spotlighted vocal harmonies on 2018's Bell House.
Brothers Collin and Kyle Rausch grew up singing together in their church choir and played separately in a variety of other bands in the Kansas City area before forming Shy Boys with Kyle's ACBs bandmate Konnor Ervin in 2012. Revealing an affection not only for '60s-style harmonies but surf rock, the group's jangly self-titled debut also established their knack for melody and nuanced chord progressions when it arrived via Kansas City's High Dive Records in 2014. Ross Brown and Kyle Little were added to the lineup over the next couple of years. Shy Boys stepped up the production while retaining the human elements of their sound for their second album, leading to a record deal with Polyvinyl in early 2018. Named for the building that acted as the band's longtime base, Bell House arrived that August. In 2018, the band also toured in support of Cut Worms and labelmates STRFKR, and opened a show in North Carolina for Fleet Foxes.

Blending a background in experimental composition with a love for pop culture and a penchant for absurdism, Dan Deacon has gained an enthusiastic following and critical acclaim for his highly energetic performances and elaborate recordings. Much of his best-known material, such as 2007 full-length Spiderman of the Rings, contains electronically manipulated vocals and buzzing, neon-like synth tones, and is overwhelmingly giddy and joyous. However, he has also written more nuanced, reflective pieces, such as 2012's America, and is involved with the contemporary classical world. Deacon is highly active as a soundtrack composer as well; among other films, he wrote the music for the acclaimed 2016 documentary Rat Film, which he also appeared in. An advocate of D.I.Y. culture, he is a co-founder of Wham City, a Baltimore-based collective of musicians, performance artists, comedians, and filmmakers who have organized numerous events and tours. Various Wham City members often accompany Deacon on his tours, with upwards of a dozen musicians performing his compositions. Deacon's performances place a heavy emphasis on audience participation, typically involving dance contests and comedic elements.

Mystic Familiar, his first studio album in five years, was released in 2020.

An international heavy metal group featuring current and former members of Wales' Bullet for My Valentine, Canada's Threat Signal, and the United States' Still Remains and Throw the Fight, Kill the Lights emerged in 2019 with a sound that marries the relentless pace of metalcore with classic NWOBHM influences.

The group was formed in 2018 by drummer and Bullet for My Valentine co-founder Michael "Moose" Thomas, vocalist and Throw the Fight frontman James Clark, Still Remains guitarist Jordan Whelan, and Threat Signal guitarist Travis Montgomery. Employing a muscular style built on a foundation of neck-snapping post-hardcore that propagates huge anthemic choruses, the group began releasing punishing, hook-driven singles like "Shed My Skin" and "Plagues" in early 2020 via Fearless Records, with plans for a full-length effort to arrive later in the year.

"Snowblood" music video by Erra

Description : ERRA - Snowblood [Official Music Video]

Welcome ERRA to the UNFD family!
Snowblood is out now:

Blood starved machine in a feeding frenzy. Don’t look now, but the floor is collapsing. No escape, the plummet is everlasting. Sound awake in the bed I've made. Pull out the pin, sanity is a grenade. Dead and sound awake. You could lose yourself in the absence of loss. Reset and wander far away. Dead and sound awake. Ambitions thrown away. Spirits washed away. You should know. Nothing lasts forever. Following footprints in circles, going snowblind. Exits overgrown inside the maze of my mind. Crawling out of the crypt to bleed the living dry. In this fantasy, the villains win, the heroes die. Slow diving to despair. Fuck it, I’m done. This is a waking nightmare. Blood starved machine in a feeding frenzy. Dead and sound awake. You could lose yourself in the absence of loss. Reset and wander far away. Dead and sound awake. Ambitions thrown away. Spirits washed away. You should know. Nothing lasts forever. Black moon rising. Glimpse of madness. Blossom black rose. Withered. Abandoned. Sorrowed. Sleepless. Alone. Sleepless nights, hearing voices. Faint whispers expand like disease. The dead are not dreaming. Can’t you hear them screaming? This is a waking nightmare. Crawling out of the crypt to bleed the living dry. In this fantasy, the villains win, the heroes die. Slow diving to despair. Fuck it, I’m done. This is a waking nightmare.

Combining the frontal assault of extreme metal with an adventurous sense of melody and precise stop-and-start arrangements -- they are often described as "the spearhead of the whole modern progressive metalcore movement -- Erra are a technical metalcore band from Birmingham, Alabama. Influenced by acts such as Misery Signals, As I Lay Dying, Born of Osiris, and Saosin, Erra were formed in 2009 by guitarist and clean vocalist Jesse Cash and scream vocalist Garrison Lee. Eager to move their musical ideas forward, Cash and Lee recruited their friends Adam Hicks and Alex Ballew to play bass and drums in the new group. The lineup was finalized when they discovered guitarist Alan Rigdon through his MySpace page, and they adopted the name Erra, a word referring to mayhem that can be traced back to the mythology of Akkad. In 2010, the group self-released its debut EP, Andromeda, and good reviews and an enthusiastic response from fans led to the band signing with indie label Tragic Hero Records. In 2011, Erra released their first full-length album, Impulse, which along with extensive touring helped raise their profile on the independent metal scene, leading to high-profile tours alongside August Burns Red, Born of Osiris, and Tesseract. In 2012, bassist Adam Hicks announced he was leaving the group to focus on his education, but he stayed with Erra long enough to finish work on their second album, Augment, which was released in the fall of 2013. The following year saw the release of the Moments of Clarity EP, with their third studio long-player, Drift, dropping in early 2016. When not on the road with Erra, Jesse Cash records and performs with his side project, Ghost Atlas.

Coming on with a staccato delivery like 2 Chainz, but with material that is much more hardcore, Detroit MC IceWear Vezzo was a member of the Green Guyz crew who went solo in 2012. Born Chivez Smith in Detroit, some of Vezzo's close relatives and siblings lived in Minnesota where they formed the hip-hop group the Green Guyz. Vezzo ran his own Detroit-based version of the Green Guyz with the blessing of the original crew, but after a few regional hits, the MC decided to go it alone. In 2012 he dropped his debut mixtape The Clarity, while 2013 saw him release Clarity 2: Can't Stop the Count, featuring the breakout single "Money Phone." The track also appeared on his 2013 album The City Is Mine, and The Clarity 3 landed in 2014 and featured Vezzo's fellow Green Guyz cohort Webbo among its guests. He also issued the Solitaires album that year on his birthday, which happened to be Halloween, while the release of The Clarity 4 kicked off 2015, a year that saw him hit with the single "Moon Walken." The album Moon Walken followed in 2016. 2017 saw the release of the Price Goin' Up mixtape, which featured collaborations with Philthy Rich, Mozzy, BandGang Lonie Bands, Rocaine, and more.

Live On Kexp At Home

"Live On Kexp At Home" music video by Shamir

Genre : Pop, Live In Concert
Description : Shamir (Live on KEXP at Home)

Shamir shares an exclusive set of songs recorded at home in Philadelphia and joins Cheryl Waters live on KEXP. Recorded Wednesday, August 26, 2020.

Las Vegas' Shamir is an eclectic artist whose music spans lo-fi indie rock, the confessional style of country singer/songwriters, and witty electro-pop. Growing up in the city's Northtown area, Shamir Bailey listened to music ranging from rock to jazz and found inspiration in his songwriter aunt. After getting a guitar from his mother, he taught himself to play it (albeit upside down). With his friend Christina Thompson, Bailey formed the indie pop duo Anorexia, who released the 2013 EP Bedroom Songs and played South by Southwest. He also began writing songs with dance beats, and sent some of his work to writer/producer Nick Sylvester, who helped shape Shamir's new approach into pulsing yet affecting songs that drew on '90s house, pop, and R&B and earned favorable comparisons to the likes of Grace Jones and the DFA Records roster. The first fruit of their collaboration, "If It Wasn't True," arrived in February 2014 via Sylvester's God Mode label. That June saw the release of the Northtown EP, which included that song as well as a cover of Canadian country singer Lindi Ortega's "Lived and Died Alone." Shamir signed to XL soon after the EP arrived, and released his breakthrough single "On the Regular" -- a cheeky mix of house and hip-hop that he wrote within minutes -- in October. His debut album, Ratchet, arrived in May 2015. After parting ways with XL, he released the free album Hope, a return to his lo-fi roots, in April 2017. Not long after its release, Bailey was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and spent a short amount of time in a psychiatric hospital. He returned to Las Vegas to recover, and wrote and recorded the bulk of his second album, Revelations, on a four-track recorder in two weeks. Father/Daughter Records released the album in November 2017.

Nashville-based duo Brothers Osborne make earthy, passionate country-rock.

Raised in Deale, Maryland, siblings John and T.J. Osborne grew up listening to their father's country and rock records. Encouraged to write and play their own music, the brothers began to practice in a shed behind their house. By their teens they had formed the cover band Deuce & a Quarter, playing songs by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Merle Haggard, Bob Seger, and others in local bars. John eventually moved to Nashville, followed two years later by T.J., and Brothers Osborne were born.

In 2011, the brothers signed a publishing deal with Warner-Chappell/King Pen Music, and a year later they signed a record deal with Capitol. The duo's debut single, "Let's Go There," appeared in 2013, followed by the single "Rum" in 2014. A year later, they released a re-recorded version of their EP track "Stay a Little Longer." Produced by Jay Joyce (Emmylou Harris, Keith Urban, Faith Hill), the single eventually peaked at number four on Billboard's country chart and eventually went platinum, also earning the duo their first Grammy nomination.

In 2016, Brothers Osborne released their debut full-length album, the Joyce-produced Pawn Shop. The album included both "Stay a Little Longer" and "Rum," as well as subsequent charting singles "21 Summer" and "It Ain't My Fault." Industry recognition followed quickly; the brothers took home Vocal Duo of the Year at both the CMA and ACM awards, and "21 Summer" and "It Ain't My Fault" were both nominated for Grammy Awards. The duo's sophomore album, Port Saint Joe, appeared in April 2018 and included the whiskey-soaked single "Shoot Me Straight" as well as "I Don't Remember Me (Before You)." Port Saint Joe earned Brothers Osborne Grammy nominations for Best Country Album as well as two for Best Country Duo/Group Performance, for "Shoot Me Straight" in 2018 and "I Don't Remember Me (Before You)" the following year. In October 2019, the pair issued the concert LP Live at the Ryman.

Australian outfit Tired Lion channel the essence of '90s alt-rock through their guitar-driven, gutsy blasts of indie rock. The brainchild of vocalist and guitarist Sophie Hopes and guitarist Matt Tanner, the duo had originally joined forces while still at school, but the addition of drummer Ethan Darnell and bassist Nick Vasey bolstered their sound. 2013 saw the release of their debut EP, All We Didn't Know, and the group became regulars in their local scene in Perth. The follow-up EP, Figurine, appeared in 2015 and featured the track "I Don't Think You Like Me," which had helped the band earn themselves a considerable fan base. That same year, national radio station Triple J awarded the band their Unearthed Artist award. The following year saw the group tour with fellow Aussies Spiderbait and Violent Soho, as well as heading to Europe to play a handful of summer festivals and headline dates. The group recorded their debut album in 2017. Produced by Luke Boerdam from Violent Soho, the resulting record, Dumb Days, was issued in the September and debuted on the official Australian charts.
