Graham Central Station - "Feel The Need (TopPop)" [R'n'B, Soul, Funk]

Feel The Need (TopPop)

"Feel The Need (TopPop)" music video by Graham Central Station
Added: 26-09-2020
Genre : R'n'B, Soul, Funk
Description : Graham Central Station - Feel The Need • TopPop

Graham Central Station was an American funk band named after founder Larry Graham (formerly of Sly & the Family Stone). The name is a pun on New York City's Grand Central Terminal, often colloquially called Grand Central Station.

The band's origins date from when Santana guitarist Neal Schon formed the band Azteca in 1972 along with Larry Graham (bass guitar) and Gregg Errico (drums), both from Sly & the Family Stone, and Pete Sears (keyboards), from Hot Tuna and Jefferson Starship. Santana bass guitar player Tom Rutley would move into the bass spot with Azteca. That band, like Santana with heavy Latin influences, would eventually morph into Graham Central Station, while Schon would form Journey.

The invention of electric slap bass is attributed by many (including Victor Wooten and Bootsy Collins) to Graham, which influenced many musical genres, such as funk, R&B and disco.

Broadcast date: 21 March 1975

"Feel the Need in Me" is a song written by Abrim Tilmon and performed by The Detroit Emeralds. It reached #4 on the UK Singles Chart, #22 on the R&B chart, and #110 on the Billboard pop chart in 1972. The song was featured on their 1972 album, You Want It, You Got It.

The group re-recorded the song and re-released a disco version in 1977 as "Feel the Need". This version reached #12 on the UK Singles Chart, #14 on the U.S. dance chart, #73 on the R&B chart, and #90 on the Billboard pop chart. It was featured on their 1977 album, Feel the Need.

Graham Central Station released a version of the song as a single entitled "Feel the Need" in 1975 which reached #18 on the R&B chart and #53 on the UK Singles chart.

All That You Can't Leave Behind is the tenth studio album by Irish rock band U2. It was produced by Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois, and was released on 30 October 2000 through Island Records and Interscope Records. Following the mixed reception to their 1997 album, Pop, All That You Can't Leave Behind represented a return to a more mainstream sound for the band after they experimented with alternative rock and dance music in the 1990s. U2 brought back Eno and Lanois, who had produced three of the band's previous albums. The album was originally named "U2000", which had been a working title for their PopMart Tour.

Dutch progressive trance artist Sander van Doorn was one of the most prominent DJs and electronic music producers to arise during the first half of the 2000s. His style has ranged from tech-house and progressive house during the mid-2000s to more vocal-driven electro-house and EDM throughout the 2010s. Although he is known more for DJ'ing -- since 2006, he's been a regular presence on DJMag's Top 100 DJ surveys -- he has also released studio recordings, including Supernaturalistic (2008) and Eleve11 (2011). He has issued dozens of 12" releases on labels like Oxygen and his own Doorn, as well as numerous DJ mix CDs for labels like Ministry of Sound and Central Station. Among his most notable remixes are Armin van Buuren's "Control Freak," Tiësto's "Dance4Life," Yello's "Oh Yeah," Sia's "The Girl You Lost to Cocaine," and Lady Gaga's "Marry the Night."

German rock band Unisonic were founded in 2009 by ex-Helloween frontman Michael Kiske and the Pink Cream 69 rhythm section of bassist Dennis Ward and drummer Kosta Zafiriou. The three musicians, who had already worked together in the AOR project Place Vendome (which has resulted in two albums, 2005's Place Vendome and 2009's Streets of Fire), then recruited ex-Gotthard guitarist Mandy Meyer and began their first tour in June 2010, playing at the Sweden Rock Festival and the Masters of Rock Festival in the Czech Republic. The band gathered some steam when former Helloween guitarist and co-founder Kai Hansen joined the lineup in March 2011, turning Unisonic into a Helloween reunion project of sorts (even though Kiske had already guested on two albums by Hansen's band Gamma Ray, 1995's Land of the Free and 2010's To the Metal!). After the release of a four-track EP titled Ignition in January 2012, the group released a self-titled full-length album two months later.
