Stratovarius - one of the most famous symphonic metal bands in the world, managed to establish themselves as one of the top names in the metal scene and have since influenced bands all over the world.

The Finnish band gained international success with albums like “Fourth Dimension” (1995), “Episode” (1996) and their epic project “Elements,Pt.1” (a peak in their Progressive and Symphonic style of Power Metal) and “Elements, Pt.2” - to name just a few of the band‘s milestones.

At the latest with their fifth album “Episode” Stratovarius had found their sound and followers like “Destiny” (1998) and “Infinite” (2000) helped expanding their fame and fan-base.

After 2005‘s “Stratovarius” the band released “Polaris” in 2009 - this at the time being their 12th studio album, but also a brand new start after guitarist and band leader TimoTolkki had left the band after ongoing fights. Instead of being a difficult re-start “Polaris” showed Stratovarius on top form and still able to captivate people all over the world: “Polaris“ became a hell of a comeback and charted higher than the previous releases around the globe. 2011 not only marked the release of the band‘s 13th, most successful and best album to date but also the announcement of long term member and drummer Jörg Michael‘s withdrawal who left the band after 15 years for personal reasons.

The news of Jörg‘s withdrawal in September 2011 was a shock for all Stratovarius fans.

To say goodbye to a friend, hero and member who characterized the band‘s sound for over a decade, the band headed to a 5 show spanning Farewell Tour in Finland in November.

Stratovarius released a 2h spanning live show filmed and recorded in Tampere, Finland, November 19th 2011. This is one of the very last shows with drummer and key-member Jörg Michael.
“Under Flaming Winter Skies - Live In Tampere“ marks the end of an era as well as a new beginning.

Bishop Briggs is a Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter of dark, rock-influenced pop. Born Sarah Grace McLaughlin, she was briefly known as BISHOP before reverting to the full form of her branding inspiration, her family's hometown of Bishopbriggs, Scotland, in order to avoid confusion with a heavy metal band of the same name. Following the release of a pair of EPs in the late 2010s, she issued her official studio debut, Church of Scars, in 2018.

She quickly moved on to a new album cycle following a difficult breakup, which resulted in 2019's Champion, an empowering set of angst-filled anthems that included the singles "Champion" with Tom Morello and "Jekyll & Hide." The following year saw Briggs issue the anthemic single "Higher," as well as a cover of Queen's "We Will Rock You."

Cut from the same cloth as fiery crooners Jana Kramer, Miranda Lambert, and Carrie Underwood, country singer Maggie Rose was born Margaret Rose Durante in 1988 in Potomac, Maryland. Durante took to the stage at the age of 16, performing frequently with the B Street Band, a Bruce Springsteen cover group, before heading off to Clemson University. She left school in her sophomore year to focus on music, eventually relocating to Nashville, Tennessee on the advice of industry icon Tommy Mottola. Mottola helped her ink a deal with Universal Republic, which released her debut single, a 2009 cover of Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody." She left the label the following year and signed with Emrose Records, releasing a pair of singles and an EP under her birth name before assuming the moniker Maggie Rose for the 2012 single "I Ain't Your Mama." A debut fell-length album, Cut to Impress, produced by Blake Chancey, Stephony Smith, and James Stroud, appeared from RPM Records in the spring of 2013. The following year, she received an Emmy Award for "Get Ya Game On," a track she wrote for Comcast SportsNet's coverage of the Baltimore Ravens and a handful of other football teams. Although she'd become identified with country music, Rose refused to box herself in and branched out into production and collaborations with a wide range of other artists. She launched an ambitious new project in the summer of 2015, debuting a new original song in whatever style she pleased every Tuesday from her website, www.iammaggierose.com. The project was a success with fans, revitalizing her career and resulting in the release of the 2016 double-EP The Variety Show, Vol. 1. Rose issued the single "Body on Fire" in early 2017, in anticipation of the release of her Dreams > Dollars EP, which arrived in May of that year.

Yesterday's Papers is a song by the Rolling Stones from their 1967 album, Between the Buttons. It was the first song that Mick Jagger wrote by himself for the group. It appears as the opening track on the UK version of the album and on the US version as the second track.

In the song, recorded in late 1966, Brian Jones's vibraphone and Jack Nitzsche's harpsichord are prominent: Keith Richards plays a distorted guitar with Charlie Watts on drums and Bill Wyman on bass. A bootleg recording exists of an alternate backing track that includes strings. There is also a stripped-down demo version with an early vocal track known.

Whereas the stereo mix fades after one chorus, the mono mix continues for one more full chorus. Additionally, the mono version is at one point near the end missing some of the backing vocals heard on the stereo version.

The song is supposedly directed at Jagger's ex-girlfriend Chrissie Shrimpton, whose relationship with Jagger at the time turned sour. It is noted for suggesting a negative treatment of women, comparing "yesterday's girl" to "yesterday's papers", as something that can be just thrown out, in similar fashion to a track on their previous album Aftermath, "Under My Thumb".

Chris Farlowe recorded the song, which was released as a single.

Florida rapper Ace Hood has achieved chart success with his major-label full-lengths and singles, in addition to releasing dozens of mixtapes and street albums. A brash, determined emcee, his songs reflect his life struggles and constant hustling, while allowing him to indulge in his taste for flashy cars and sexual pleasures. Signing with DJ Khaled's We the Best Music before he turned 20, Ace released four successful albums, including the Top Five-charting Trials & Tribulations (2013), which included the platinum-certified single "Bugatti" (with Future and Rick Ross). He became an independent artist in 2016 and continued issuing mixtapes, with a more mature, R&B-influenced project titled Mr. Hood appearing in 2020.

Architects are a British metalcore band from Brighton, East Sussex, formed in 2004 by twin brothers Dan and Tom Searle. The band now consists of Dan Searle on drums, Alex Dean on bass guitar, Sam Carter on vocals, and Adam Christianson and Josh Middleton on guitars. They have been signed to Epitaph Records since 2013.

Strongly influenced by bands such as The Dillinger Escape Plan, the sound of their first three albums was coarse, chaotic, and rhythmically complex. In 2011, Architects went in a more melodic post-hardcore direction with The Here and Now, alienating some of their fanbase. The following year, they returned towards their original style with Daybreaker, establishing a balance of melody and technical harshness while introducing more politicised lyrics. With the release of their sixth album Lost Forever // Lost Together in 2014, the band achieved lasting popularity and critical acclaim.

Soon after the release of their seventh album, All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us, in 2016, guitarist and principal songwriter Tom Searle died after three years of living with skin cancer. In September 2017, the band released the single "Doomsday"–the last song he was working on before his death–and announced Middleton as their new lead guitarist. The single is featured on Holy Hell, their first album recorded without Tom Searle, which was released in November 2018.

On October 20, 2020, the band released the single Animals off their upcoming album, For Those That Wish to Exist.

A musician and visual artist based in Los Angeles, Missouri native Lawrence Rothman began writing songs and making home studio recordings at the ripe old age of nine. Around that time, he also started wearing costumes for different characters or, more precisely, versions of himself ("alters") depending on what he was working on, a practice later conspicuous in promotional images and performance. The young artist also eventually grew into a distinctive, ripe baritone that made its recording debut on the single "Montauk Fling" on Mamaroma in 2013. The label released a few more songs, including "Kevin" and "#1 All Time Low," before Rothman signed with Downtown Records/Interscope in 2015. The plaintive single "California Paranoia" featuring Angel Olsen followed later that year. It was one of a series of tracks released from his full-length debut, The Book of Law, before its arrival in the fall of 2017. Reflecting personal struggles with issues like gender identity and social alienation through a mix of piano balladry and lite synth pop, the album was produced by Justin Raisen (Charli XCX, Santigold) and Rothman's brother Yves. In addition to Olsen, collaborators included Marissa Nadler, Kristin Kontrol, and a diverse list of notable backing musicians not limited to Pino Palladino (the Who, John Mayer Trio), Duff McKagan (Guns N' Roses), and Stella Mozgawa (Warpaint).

A Canadian duo whose music recalls the glory days of British folk-rock, Kacy & Clayton feature the talents of vocalist Kacy Anderson and guitarist and vocalist Clayton Linthicum. While their music has a recognizable country influence, their strong harmonies, evocative but sweetly sad melodies, and Linthicum's guitar work recall the U.K. folk sound of Fairport Convention and Richard & Linda Thompson, although the homespun tone of their lyrics owes more to the work of Canadian folk icons Ian & Sylvia. The moody but powerful sound of Kacy & Clayton's updated take on vintage folk was memorably captured on 2015's Strange Country, while 2019's Carrying On founding them turning up the country accents in their sound.

The duo of Madeline Follin and Brian Oblivion, Cults' twinkling experimental pop combines gauzy sounds with moods that hit surprisingly hard. On their 2010 breakthrough "Go Outside," dream pop haze and '60s girl group harmonies provided the perfect backdrop for Follin's sweetly empathetic vocals, creating the template for Cults' sound. On the albums that followed, the duo gave different nuances to this style. They added Technicolor vibrancy to 2011's Cults; darkness that echoed the end of their romantic relationship on 2013's Static; and a streamlined approach that reflected the electro-pop purveyors that sprang up in their wake on 2017's Offering. On this album and 2020's Host, Follin's growing creative input reinforced the delicate yet enduring appeal of Cults' music.

"The song also has a very melodramatic feel to it, and wanted to experiment with that feeling in the live session by inviting Felix Havsta to play violin on the performance. I also really liked the combination of violin and a digital synthesizer, playing in a room with such special acoustics." - Late Verlane

A Brooklyn, New York-based experimental metal outfit that blends bleak post-rock minimalism with the ferocious attack of sludge and classic black metal, Tombs emerged in 2007 and found critical and commercial success in 2011 with their sophomore effort, Path of Totality. Citing a wide array of influences that includes Swans, Darkthrone, Black Flag, and Bauhaus, the group continued to hone their unique brand of blackened extreme metal on subsequent releases like Savage Gold (2014) and The Grand Annihilation (2017).

Formed in 2007 as a collaboration between Mike Hill (Anodyne), Dominic Seita (Speedloader), and Justin Ennis (the Heuristic), Tombs' dark proto-industrial sounds were first put to wax that year in the form of a two-song EP simply entitled Tombs, and by the time the group got around to unleashing a proper full-length for Relapse, 2009’s Winter Hours, Seita and Ennis had been replaced with Carson James and Andrew Hernandez (Asra), respectively. The band’s sophomore outing, 2011’s acclaimed Path of Totality, was produced by John Congleton (Baroness, Explosions in the Sky), and featured prominently on many critics’ year-end metal lists. 2014's Erik Rutan-produced Savage Gold marked the debuts of guitarist Garett Bussanick and bassist Ben Brand, and 2017's savage The Grand Annihilation proved to be the group's most experimental set of material to date. The band inked a deal with Season of Mist in 2019 and released the Monarchy of Shadows of EP the following year.

Singer/songwriter Liam Bailey may have discovered Amy Winehouse, but his soulful delivery and highly individual songs stand on their own. Born in Nottingham in 1983 to an English mother and Jamaican father, Bailey grew up listening to his parents' Bob Marley, Stevie Wonder, and Jimi Hendrix records. As a member of hip-hop collective 1st Blood, who were briefly signed to Tricky's now defunct Brownpunk label, he appeared on the album Eat Defeat by Bloodleech and recorded an LP, There Were Wolves, as one quarter of short-lived folk outfit the Accidental in 2008. After moving to London to carve out a solo career, his emotive and heartfelt brand of acoustic guitar-driven soul soon attracted the attention of Winehouse, who tracked him down after hearing one of his tracks through a mutual friend. In addition to teen singer Dionne Bromfield, Bailey became the second artist to sign to her Lioness Records imprint and released two EPs through the label, 2AM Rough Tracks and So Down, Cold, in 2010. While working with her producer Salaam Remi on his debut album, he supported Ellie Goulding on her U.K. tour and provided vocals for Chase & Status' Loleatta Holloway-sampling number four hit "Blind Faith." After signing to Polydor Records, he released his debut single, "You Better Love Me," and its parent album, Out of the Shadows, was scheduled to follow later in 2011 but it was pulled at the last minute. Bailey spent the next few years in record label limbo, but he re-emerged in 2014 on Flying Buddha/Sony with his long-delayed debut album, Definitely Now.

Atlanta-based quintet Sevendust were one of the most prominent late-'90s nu-metal acts, rising above contemporaries with an aggressive blend of bottom-heavy riffs and soulful, accessible melodies delivered by vocalist Lajon Witherspoon. Over the years, the band would balance the raw energy and brutality of early albums like 1997's Sevendust and 1999's Home with increasingly atmospheric production and even late-era acoustic sets on releases like Time Travelers & Bonfires (2014) and Kill the Flaw (2015), home to the Grammy-nominated single "Thank You."

In 2020, the band returned with Blood & Stone, which included the emotionally charged single "The Day I Tried to Live."

An R&B singer and songwriter with a casually commanding voice, Ella Mai wasn't exactly an unknown artist before DJ Mustard signed her to his 10 Summers label, but the U.K. native hit the mainstream in 2018 with breakthrough single "Boo'd Up," a sparkling slow jam that increased in popularity throughout the year. The single led to her Top Five self-titled debut album, which arrived that October and was followed shortly thereafter by a Grammy win for Best R&B Song.

Raised in southwest London, Ella Mai Howell moved to New York at the age of 12, then returned to England after she graduated from high school. In 2014, while attending the British and Irish Modern Music Institute in London, she competed on The X Factor as part of a trio named Arize, but the group didn't advance beyond the initial audition and subsequently broke up. The following year, Ella Mai uploaded a solo EP of originals to SoundCloud and clips of covers to Instagram. The latter caught the attention of producer DJ Mustard, who in January 2016 announced that Mai had signed to his Interscope-distributed 10 Summers label.

Mai made her proper debut the following month with Time, a poised EP of sleek, contemporary R&B. Featuring the Ty Dolla $ign collaboration "She Don't," the six-track release introduced an artist who could sing of fierce loyalty and ruthless spite in an incisive manner. Mai quickly followed up with two more Mustard-assisted EPs: Change, a November 2016 release, and Ready, issued four months later. Ready highlight "Boo'd Up," a love ballad reminiscent of R&B's pre-new jack swing era, cracked the Billboard Hot 100 in April 2018 and three months later peaked at number five -- an unusually long period of ascent. "Trip" arrived as "Boo'd Up" began its slide off the chart and reached number 11 in October, the month Ella Mai released her self-titled debut album. Containing her two biggest hits to that point, Ella Mai debuted at number five on the Billboard 200. "Boo'd Up" was nominated for Grammy Awards in the categories of Song of the Year (one of "the Big Four") and Best R&B Song; at the early 2019 ceremony, she took home the prize for the latter. She received a Grammy nomination later that year for Best R&B Album for Ella Mai.

Amid work as an actor, dancer, and choreographer along with other creative pursuits, Teyana Taylor has had a labyrinthine career as an R&B recording artist, highlighted by the forthright Top 20 entries VII (2014) and K.T.S.E. (2018), and The Album (2020), her intensely personal and wide-scoped third LP for Kanye West's Def Jam-supported G.O.O.D. Music.
