The confrontational Sauce Walka is a Houston-based rapper with an exuberant, sporadic delivery similar to Young Thug. Among his releases are the Sorry 4 the Sauce mixtape series (2015-2017) and highly animated tracks such as "Sauce Overload" (2018).

Born Albert Walker Mondane, the rapper makes up one half of Sauce Twinz, along with Sancho Saucy. He began releasing tracks and mixtapes in 2014, as well as appearing on releases by Slim Thug and DJ Holiday. Sauce Walka gained notoriety in 2015 when he accused Drake of using Houston's hip-hop culture, stealing its dance moves, and not supporting the local hip-hop scene; during the year also released the first two volumes of the mixtape series Sorry 4 the Sauce. The cover of his 2016 mixtape Holy Sauce targeted Drake, as well as other rappers such as Famous Dex and Future. Across the next couple years, Sauce Walka's rate of output remained consistent with Sorry 4 the Sauce 3, additional tapes including Drip God and Sauce Ghetto Gospel, and loose tracks highlighted by "Sauce Overload."

Conceived a year before Damon Albarn's Gorillaz burst onto the scene, but signed only four years after, Shaka Ponk are the French electro-punk collective best-known for their digitally animated monkey character, Goz. Formed by web designer Frah and guitarist CC in 2000, the pair experimented with various visual techniques before recruiting bassist Thias and drummer Bobe-OD to complete their lineup. The band quickly earned a reputation as a must-see live outfit thanks to their multi-lingual fusion of rock, funk, hip-hop, and punk with inventive imagery, which they perfected on their own online channel, Monkey TV. In 2005, they signed a deal with Edel Music, and a year later, released their debut album, Loco con da Frenchy Talkin, which was followed by 2009's Bad Porn Movie Trax, and 2011's The Geeks & the Jerkin' Socks, the latter of which featured new recruit, Samaha Sam on lead vocals.

The Symphony No. 14 (Op. 135) by Dmitri Shostakovich was completed in the spring of 1969, and was premiered later that year. It is a work for soprano, bass and a small string orchestra with percussion, consisting of eleven linked settings of poems by four authors. Most of the poems deal with the theme of death, particularly that of unjust or early death. They were set in Russian, although two other versions of the work exist with the texts all back-translated from Russian either into their original languages or into German. The symphony is dedicated to Benjamin Britten (who gave the UK premiere the following year at Aldeburgh).

Besides the soloists, the symphony is scored for a chamber orchestra consisting only of strings and percussion. The strings consist of ten violins, four violas, three cellos, and two double basses, and the percussion section (three players) includes wood block, castanets, whip, soprano, alto and tenor tom-toms, xylophone, Tubular bells, vibraphone, and celesta. The percussion section does not include common instruments such as timpani, bass drum, cymbals, or triangle.

The Fourteenth Symphony was a creative response to Modest Mussorgsky's Songs and Dances of Death, which Shostakovich had orchestrated in 1962, as well as to the Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia following Alexander Dub?ek's Prague Spring reforms there. Like Mussorgsky, Shostakovich brings back the subject of death in various images and situations. The Mussorgsky cycle contains only four songs — too few to do justice to Mussorgsky's concept, Shostakovich felt. He proceeded to expand it by selecting 11 poems by Federico García Lorca, Guillaume Apollinaire, Wilhelm Küchelbecker and Rainer Maria Rilke.

Shostakovich attached great importance to this work, commenting in a letter to Glikman: "Everything that I have written until now over these long years has been a preparation for this work." He added that he intended the symphony to prove a counterweight to the positive presentation of death in music:

"In part, I am trying to polemicise with the great classics who touched upon the theme of death in their work.... Remember the death of Boris Godunov. When ... he dies, then a kind of brightening sets in. Remember Verdi's Otello. When the whole tragedy ends, and Desdemona and Otello die, we also experience a beautiful tranquility. Remember Aida. When the tragic demise of the hero and heroine occurs, it is softened with radiant music."

Tim Burgess inherited Mick Jagger's rock & roll swagger and big lips before Oasis' Liam Gallagher became famous for them. When Burgess debuted with his group the Charlatans in the late ‘80s, he looked and sounded almost interchangeable with many of the Manchester, England artists at the time -- bangs, baggy pants, and detached, lazy vocals -- but by embracing other musical styles and moving forward, he has actually outlived his contemporaries.

During the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic quarantine, Burgess held a series of social media events called "Tim's Twitter Listening Party," where he played ringleader for sharing memories and opinions on classic albums. Artists also participated in the parties, ranging from Oasis' Bonehead to Throwing Muses. The listening parties would set the stage for the May 2020 release of I Love the New Sky, the first proper Tim Burgess solo album since 2012's Oh No I Love You.
