The stylistic range of left-field pop artist Kali Uchis is reflected in the variety of her collaborators -- an extensive genre-crossing list that includes Tyler, the Creator, Gorillaz, Daniel Caesar, Juanes, and BadBadNotGood. A singer, songwriter, and producer, as well as a video director, Uchis truly arrived on her own with the self-released Por Vida (2015), an EP that led to a deal with Virgin EMI. By the time Uchis released her lively debut full-length, the Top Five Billboard R&B/hip-hop hit Isolation (2018), she had already been nominated for Grammy awards through her featured appearances on Caesar's "Get You" and Juanes' "El Ratico."

January 2018 saw the release of the BadBadNotGood-produced single "After the Storm" (featuring Tyler and Bootsy). Uchis released her debut album, Isolation, three months later. It debuted at number 32 on the Billboard 200 and entered the R&B/hip-hop chart at number four. An EP, To Feel Alive, arrived in April 2020 and included the song "i want war (BUT I NEED PEACE)."

This story thanks to Ben Groote:

In 1962 two brothers Andre and Henk Groote from Apeldoorn the Netherlands started as a two piece band performing songs of the Everly Brothers, Hank Locklin etc. After two years brother Ben Groote joined them playing drums and also added a third voice to their music. The band named Goldstar Brothers was completed by Willem Anthonius on bassguitar. The Goldstar Brothers recorded three 45 rpm before they changed their name into Geebros in 1967. Willem Anthonius was replaced by Cor Mestebeld from Zwolle and Lol Nijhuis became the organ and piano player.

In 1969 Lol Nijhuis left the band and was replaced by the Hennie Backers, a Hammond player from Zwolle. The musical style changed into more progressive rock . They changed their name into Crying Wood.

In 1974 drummer Ben Groote formed a band with the name Crying Wood again. Other members Will Meurs --later forming a band with Vandenberg bassplayer Dick Kemper- on vocals, Jan Veldkamp later replaced by Otto Fledderus, leadguitar, Cor Lievers keyboards-also doing gigs with Vandenberg later- and Gert Kozijn bassguitar. This line-up stopped in 1976 after many live gigs in the Netherlands and Germany. Some of their recordings are on youtube.

In 1976 the Andre, Henk and Ben Groote together with Geebros bass player Cor Mestebelt formed Airbubble. Their first recording Racing Car/ Dj´s Blue jeans, written and produced by the later BZN producer Roy Beltman )and co/writer Ilja Gort was a huge succes in the Netherlands and Europe. Airbubble recorded several 45´s till 1981, when they stopped as a band.

In November 2010 Geebros was asked to perform at the yearly Apeldoorn sixties festival Soos ´ 59 reunion. After a very successful gig of 50 minutes the band decided to continue.

Line-up Geebros 2011
Henk Groote- leadvocals and guitar
Ben Groote- leadvocals and drums
Max Tack- guitars,bassguitar and vocals
Jeroen de Haas- guitars and vocals
Kees Jan Caron- keyboards
Gert Kozijn- bassguitar, slide and steelguitar.

The repertoire is a mix of old songs of Goldstar Brothers, Geebros, Crying Wood and Airbubble and songs from the Everly Brothers, the Beatles, the Beach Boys etc. Strong close harmony again!

Stratovarius - "Black Diamond (Under Flaming Winter Skies Live)" [Metal & X-Core]

Description : Stratovarius - Under Flaming Winter Skies - 15 Black Diamond (Live)

Listen to the full album:

Stratovarius - one of the most famous symphonic metal bands in the world, managed to establish themselves as one of the top names in the metal scene and have since influenced bands all over the world.

The Finnish band gained international success with albums like “Fourth Dimension” (1995), “Episode” (1996) and their epic project “Elements,Pt.1” (a peak in their Progressive and Symphonic style of Power Metal) and “Elements, Pt.2” - to name just a few of the band‘s milestones.

At the latest with their fifth album “Episode” Stratovarius had found their sound and followers like “Destiny” (1998) and “Infinite” (2000) helped expanding their fame and fan-base.

After 2005‘s “Stratovarius” the band released “Polaris” in 2009 - this at the time being their 12th studio album, but also a brand new start after guitarist and band leader TimoTolkki had left the band after ongoing fights. Instead of being a difficult re-start “Polaris” showed Stratovarius on top form and still able to captivate people all over the world: “Polaris“ became a hell of a comeback and charted higher than the previous releases around the globe. 2011 not only marked the release of the band‘s 13th, most successful and best album to date but also the announcement of long term member and drummer Jörg Michael‘s withdrawal who left the band after 15 years for personal reasons.

The news of Jörg‘s withdrawal in September 2011 was a shock for all Stratovarius fans.

To say goodbye to a friend, hero and member who characterized the band‘s sound for over a decade, the band headed to a 5 show spanning Farewell Tour in Finland in November.

Stratovarius released a 2h spanning live show filmed and recorded in Tampere, Finland, November 19th 2011. This is one of the very last shows with drummer and key-member Jörg Michael.
“Under Flaming Winter Skies - Live In Tampere“ marks the end of an era as well as a new beginning.

love always,

An American singer, songwriter, and rapper with a motivational message and a devoted social media following, Lauren Sanderson first gained fame via her YouTube and SoundCloud channels -- her video cover of Maroon 5's "She Will Be Loved" drew a significant amount of traffic. In 2016 she released her debut EP, Center of Expression, followed by a sophomore extended player, Spaces, in 2017. Signed to Epic late that year, Sanderson released "Written in the Stars" featuring PnB Rock, which was included on her 2018 EP Spaces. Another release, the six-song Don't Panic! EP, also appeared that year. Sanderson kept up a steady stream of releases over the next year including the 2019 EP Hasta La Vista and the singles "Hotel Room" and "Upset."

Madrid's Danny Avila spins and produces a wide range of big room dance sounds, including electro-house, trance, and trap. Originally from Marbella, he started DJ'ing at the age of 12 and producing soon after. He moved to Madrid in order to become a DJ, and began spinning in the city's clubs before he was old enough to be admitted into them. His DJ skills and youthful energy caught the attention of superstar DJ Tiësto, who invited Avila to share the stage with him at Pacha Ibiza. Soon after, Avila began touring across the world with Tiësto and Calvin Harris, in addition to appearing at countless major EDM festivals. DJ Magazine included Avila's Big Room Mix CD with its September 2012 issue, making him the youngest artist to record a mix CD for the publication. He released a series of singles for labels like Big Beat Records, Spinnin' Records, and Dim Mak, as well as mixing the second disc of the 2013 double CD Ibiza Calling. Residencies in Barcelona and Las Vegas followed, as Avila frequently produced episodes of his Ready to Jump podcast series. Successful remixes for tracks by Gavin James and Tiësto were released in 2017, as well as "LOCO," a collaboration with Nervo.

Jesu is another musical project spearheaded by Birmingham-based musician and producer Justin Broadrick -- a fixture of England's extreme music scene since his membership in the earliest recording lineup of Napalm Death in the mid-'80s. Also an occasional member of several other bands (Head of David, Techno Animal, etc.), he is probably best known for his decade-plus leadership of pioneering industrial ensemble Godflesh. Finally having officially laid that hallowed institution to rest following a reported nervous breakdown in 2002, Broadrick turned his attention to a new entity, Jesu, which he named after the last song on Godflesh's swan song, Hymns. Essentially a solo project with Broadrick handling vocals, guitars, bass, and programming, Jesu's 2004 debut EP, Heart Ache, consisted of two 20-minute-long meditations melding uncompromising sonic textures with seemingly abstract musings and a few hard-won melodic rewards.

Released in 1990, "Time" was the second single from Kim Wilde's seventh studio album "Love Moves". And a pretty good tune it is too. This clip was directed by Greg Masuak.

Lost Horizons is a collaboration between former Cocteau Twin Simon Raymonde and drummer Richard Thomas, whose past résumé includes Dif Juz and the Jesus and Mary Chain. Fashioning a haunting, low-key indie pop that combined elements of dance-rock and Bowie-esque singer/songwriter folk, their debut album featured nearly as many guest vocalists as tracks, among them Marissa Nadler, Tim Smith (Midlake), and Ghostpoet. Titled Ojalá, it arrived in November 2017 on Raymonde's own Bella Union label, which was then celebrating its 20th year.

Incorporating wide-ranging influences including but not limited to R&B, jazz, and hip-hop, Xenia Rubinos' eclectic style is guided by agile, expressive vocal performances inspired in part by the likes of Nina Simone and Billie Holiday. Her debut album, 2013's Magic Trix, delivered an inventive indie rock patchwork of jazz, hip-hop, funk, Caribbean rhythms, and electronics.

Raised in Hartford, Connecticut in a household with Puerto Rican and Cuban heritage, Rubinos sings in both English and Spanish. While her parents weren't musicians, they were music fans who encouraged her not only to sing but to start on the piano at the age of four. By eight, she was using a karaoke machine to record songs and make mixtapes. A scholarship to the Berklee College of Music resulted in formal voice study, but after an instructor compared an assigned horn arrangement she had written to Charles Mingus, she studied up on his recordings and was inspired to shift her focus to composition. Following graduation and a move to Brooklyn, Rubinos sang and played keyboards on her debut album, which included performances by drummer (and former Berklee classmate) Marco Buccelli and bassist Adam Minkoff. The resulting Magic Trix was self-released in 2012. Ba Da Bing Records gave it an official label release a year later, and Rubinos went on to tour the U.S. and Europe as both as a headliner and in support of acts including Battles, Deerhoof, and CocoRosie. Produced again by Buccelli, and with Rubinos playing bass on some tracks in addition to keys, her equally ambitious follow-up, Black Terry Cat, arrived on Anti- in 2016. While working on material for her third album, Rubinos recorded a Spanish-language cover of the Clash's "Should I Stay or Should I Go" for the 2018 documentary I'm Leaving Now (Ya Me Voy). It was released as a single by Anti- in 2019.
